What, on earth, is the DOWNSIDE to cutting Bobby Shaw? 1/2 of a positive net play per game? This is exactly the right thing to do. This team is wholly underperforming, and we ALL agree here that the players don't seem to be getting the message that their lack of focus and production is costing this team games. So, cut a guy with NO upside, who makes stupid mistakes, who makes at least the vet minimum (a present from TD to Ralph), and whom NO ONE expected to be cut - EXACTLY. Now the players know - NO ONE is safe on this roster. If you don't produce, you're gone. Maybe this is what this team needed to turn it around and realize that if they don't turn it up a notch, they could be next. I'll tell you what - the next move like this will be to demote Travis Henry. They can tell the public it's because of his injury, but the players will know the real reason - this guy has played thru cracked ribs for chrissake. Time to start sending messages - this franchise has been too soft for too freakin' long.
By the way - you know who I think this move was intended to send the biggest message to? JOSH REED.

So, I'm walking home from the subway station the other day after work, on the phone with my dad talkin' Bills "football" (or at least that's what they call it). I start screaming about how Travis Henry is a "mental midget" - lo and behold, I look down and standing right next to me, sure enough, is a MIDGET. Well, suffice it to say I used my longer stride to book it outta there...
Anyway the moral of the story is, Travis Henry is the problem.

Um, don't forget, Dallas right now has egg on its face from outbidding the Bills for Drew Henson, who has looked awful and is currently behind TONY ROMO on the depth chart. JP looked FAR better than Henson in the preseason (and Stephen Jackson looked FAR better than Julius Jones). So I'd say it's a wash - I don't care if Dallas gets a top-five pick, it's quality over quantity, people.

I used to love the guy - boy was I stupid. He is the ONLY GM in the League who does not understand the most important concept in football:
OFFENSIVE AND DEFENSIVE LINES WIN CLOSE GAMES.
How does this man have such a well-paying job and such a golden reputation? He obviously knows NOTHING about putting a winning team together. Do you realize, as bad as this line is, it should actually be WORSE? If John Guy doesn't go out and find Lawrence Smith on a scrap heap somewhere, Pucillo is the starting RG right now. That was Donahoe's plan, at least. That's the best he could do. RIDICULOUS. As someone else said here, this line breaks down EVERY THIRD PLAY. What a joke. They open NO holes in the running game, and are probably the WORST line at pass protection in the League. Yesterday they allowed sacks on MAX PROTECT PLAYS, where only ONE receiver lined up in formation, and there were EIGHT (!!!!!) players in tight to protect Bledsoe - they STILL allowed sacks. Assclowns. (As an aside, I'm tired of the term "little mistakes" being used to describe forgetting to block the other team's best defender. These are BIG mistakes - they don't get bigger, actually.)
And, the d-line sux too. How about forcing some pressure on the Jets' last drive? How much is this d-line getting paid, in total? $15 million? And we still need to blitz to get pressure (which is why other teams convert so many third downs against us).
Donahoe, you are a fraud. You are the worst GM in the League - and YES I could be doing a better job (hell, if Matt Millen can, anyone can).

OK, my opinion is no better than yours.....but can you tell me......How the hell did we pound Jacksonville? A ten point pounding? At home? Oh, yeah, I was there too, and while I think we played OK, we far from pounded them AT HOME. The Raiders.......well, we had three points. Got some garbage late, on a lucky play, and made it seem alot closer than it was.
The NE game, oh yeah, I was there too, we competed better I think. But when the chips were on the table......we failed......AGAIN. And we scored ZERO points in the 2nd half, and played like morons. Just my opinion, but it's damn near impossible to like this team. I love the Buffalo Bills, but I'm really starting to hate this group of players representing our team.
Well, obviously we didn't pound them in the scoring department, but in terms of just physically pounding them, imposing our will as you say, we sure as sh%t did that to the Jaguars. We were really wearing down their offense - at one point I was sure Leftwich just wanted to go home. Henry was running well - even though he wasn't getting yards, our line and TH were being very physical against a tough defense at the point of attack. Same thing against the Raiders, same thing against the Pats. If your point is only that this team is getting outscored and is making stupid, stupid mistakes, well, no f'ing kidding. But to say they lack confidence and lack physicality is just wrong at this point, IMO.

Hmm... you ALMOST had me with that post, I mean, I'm pissed off too by the sloppy play and the coachspeak response, BUT, your take just doesn't account for what I saw out there on the field - I was at the Jacksonville game, and I can tell you that we were just pounding the hell out of 'em on both sides of the ball. WE DID inflict our will on them. It took a miracle for them to pull that one out. The Raiders played a bit more physical, but even in that game we pushed them around a bit. Now, the Pats game you might be right on the money about, but I'll tell you, we played the Pats a lot tougher than many other teams I watched play them... I'm just not ready to buy into what you're saying...
That being said, I expect to win this Sunday, and if we don't, perhaps I'll climb aboard your theory.

I agree with most of your assessment, but I'm still not convinced this o-line is dramatically improved against good edge-rushers, whom we haven't faced yet. The interior line is better than I expected, and they have improved, but until I see MW and JJ protecting against the speed rushers I won't be convinced.
Also, the line has NOT improved in one other critical area - short-yardage situations when pure strength and determination are needed. We've failed almost all of those tests so far this season.

Is Jeff Fisher an idiot because the Titans are 1-3? How about Sherman? Is Tom Coughlin a genius because the Giants have beaten the Skins, Packers, and Cleveland? Jack Del Rio?
It's no shock to me that the offense bogged down after we lost our starting LT and Center. There were also other factors (phantom holding penalty on Shelton's run for a first down, TH tripping over his johnson again when the hole was big enough to drive a truck through, etc).
Actually yes, Mike Sherman is an idiot. I take your point though.

That's right 30dive - most people on this Board (myself included) had us at 1-2 right now. Well, we're TWO stupid miracle plays from that being the case (both on the last drive against Jacksonville). As Mularkey and George W say, "Stay the course." We will now be 1-3 (instead of the 2-2 most of us predicted).

I have NO doubt. I was positive we'd lose in Oakland and at home against NE, and I'm equally positive we'll win in the Meadowlands this Sunday. Why? Matchups. We matchup very, very well against this Jet team IMO - for the simple reason that we will be able to run and stop the run. By taking away CuMar, we can force Chad into 3d and long situations where he is not nearly as adept or accurate as Brady - we will blitz the hell out of him and make him force throws into - our defenders' hands. We also have the speed at the WR position to take advantage of a BRUTAL secondary, and their special teams don't matchup well against ours, either. Plus, I genuinely believe this team is tired of losing, is tired of making mistakes and has a HUGE chip on its shoulder after losing a winnable game against A GREAT team. The Jets are also over-confident - they've played NO ONE and they have far less talent than they think.
I know nothing from the last 3 games would lead any rational person to predict victory - but I'm not going on pure "faith" here - I really think the matchups and situation dictates a Buffalo victory.

Actually I thought MW played extremely well today, and I've been ripping him here lately. I saw him gobble people up on a bunch of running plays, a few times dominating Seymore (who is one of the best DLs in the game). I don't know who's fault it was on that 4th down play, but Mularkey did say it was "one of the offensive linemen" who blew an assignment on that play... hmmm....

I know I may be reaching here, but I've already started a *negative* thread, so here goes a positive thread. Here are your lead-pipe locks for next season:
1) Bledsoe will be given the option to come in as a backup. If he's smart, he'll accept - and I bet he does. I know he's a competitor, but he's taken a ton of hits on his body, and he's not going to make more $$ than he will get here as a backup next season. He'll see the writing on the wall (if he hasn't already - but judging by the speed at which he reads blitzes, he hasn't), when JP replaces him for the last 4-5 games. My problem with Bledsoe actually isn't his decision-making under pressure - it's his lack of accuracy. Other than the deep ball, he just can't fit the pigskin into tight spaces - something Brady excels at (and hopefully JP too).
2) We'll have a first-round pick. Travis, buh-buy. TH is a warrior and a great between-the-tackles runner, and some owner somewhere (Al Davis? remember, he used a 1st round pick on a kicker) will be suckered into trading a #1 for him - despite the fact that TH is semi-retarded and runs the wrong play 4-7 times a game. You just can' t have that going on and expect to be a great offense - he doesn't have the brain for this league, and his replacement is already on the roster.
3) JP's mobility will make up for poor protection. We already saw this in the preseason - the guy has good feet and they should only get better. Expect him to have some rough outings, but also he should be able to give the offense a greater margin for error by buying time and salvaging broken plays.
Overall, I'm excited for next year - I think having Losman, Evans, McGahee and Moulds in there will provide more excitement and give us a better chance to win games.

Only the Arizona Cardinals are worse. Can anyone honestly say this team has shown ANY improvement in 4 years? What is the difference between Coy Wire jumping offsides on that fieldgoal and Chris Watson roughing the fieldgoal kicker in the Meadowlands? We've gotten NOWHERE. We will barely, if at all, surpass the 3-13 record in TD's first year at the helm. We have an inept QB, and a vastly undertalented o-line. We have lots of talent at the skill positions but we've never had a coaching staff that knows how to use it.
We are the laughingstock of the entire league.

Isn't it the OPPOSITE? If the Sox win the Series, we're the most cursed sports franchise left (except the Cubs - are they considered a "sports franchise")? It almost makes me want to root for the Yankees.
