1. so does this offically make this draft  the worst draft in the tom donahoe era?

    406359

Just the unluckiest. In fact, our draft class was unlucky last year too. Seriously - this is quite a spate. No first round pick last year, no first, second or third this year. Makes it tougher - I'm pissed. Not at Donahoe tho, this stuff happens.

  2. I don't get why it makes everyone so angry. TO's interviews provide more unintentional comedy than anything else in recent memory. He's hilarious. He's just an immature celeb who had a broken life and never really had to grow up properly.

I'm assuming people hate him because of his attitude, not his position re: his contract, no? I mean, the "honor your contract" idea is garbage - NFL players really just have an at-will contract, even tho it's not worded as such. My employer has promised me a nice salary - but it can fire me whenever it wants, for whatever reason, and I'm screwed. For the same reason, I can leave whenever I want.

No one is mad at Hines Ward for not "honoring his contract."

Again, it must just be that people react with venom to TO's imbecilic (is that a word?) rants - try just laughing.

  3. I have to agree - was thinking the same thing. But, I don't think that he was running behind the starting o-line (was he?) - he certainly didn't seem to have too many holes to run through. He needs open space to be effective.

  4. The weak link in your thesis actually may be point #2. Neither Jennings nor Smith/Tucker were "maulers" in the run game. Jennings was great in pass protection (except against John Abraham), but did you ever see him pancake anyone? By contrast, Bennie is a real "road-grader", and either Gandy or Peters (pleaseGodnotTeague) probably would provide more push in the running game than Jennings did.

Also, relax. Willis has more speed to turn the corner this year. And, we all saw what he can do with our own eyes last year - stats notwithstanding. I ain't worried.

  5. How many more years do you all think Adams is going to play? How many with the Bills? I think not more than 1 or 2, tops. Corey Simon, when healthy and on top of his game, is close to unblockable - in the Marcus Stroud mold. Putting him next to Adams for a year would make our line nearly impossible to run up the gut on, and teams would have a ton of trouble accounging for our passrush. We already use a ton of blitzes to overload the line - now imagine what it would be like with a line of Schobel, Simon, Adams, and Kelsay, plus our linebacking crew and the occasional Milloy/Clements blitz. It would be, in a word, a massacre.

Give me the top D in the League over the top O any day - especially a Sunday in January. I just can't complain about this move if it happens, and the rumor sure as hell excites me.

  6. Anyone else watch last night? I know there has been a lot of hype this offseason about Williams being in the best shape of his life, etc. etc., but I was not at all impressed watching him last night. Not only is he leaner (having less power as a result), but he seems to have developed a case of "happy feet." Granted, the Dolphins' line didn't seem to be opening too many holes (although Sammy Morris was able to find some holes), but Williams seemed just to be dancing rather than bursting through the LOS. I always thought that what made RW special was his quickness to the line - he seems to have lost all of that, at least for the time being.

  7. DUDE ARE YOU NUTS?

    She's 19!!!!

Here's what your weekend should look like:

    Friday afternoon:

"Hey baby! Let's jump in the sack!"

    (two hours later)

"Hey, mind if I turn on the baseball game?"

    (two hours later)

"Hey baby! Let's jump in the sack!"

    (two hours later)

"Hey - so, um, I'm gonna go out for a few drinks with the guys, wanna come? Oh, that's right - well, you'll be here when I get back, right?"

    Saturday:

    see Friday, repeat.

    Sunday am:

"Hey baby! Let's jump in the sack!"

    12:49 pm:

"What time is it? Damn - gotta run to the bar. Listen, if the Bills win, and I'm sober enough, let's go out for a nice dinner, just the two of us, mkay?"

  8. Thoughts? My thoughts are this isn't Madden 95. You can't take a bunch of crap and trade it for an all star.

Would you trade a Bills franchise player for a low pick and a back-up? Please.

    399109

You can't? Remember what the Eagles gave up for Owens? A bunch of crap (backup d-lineman who would later be cut, plus a low draft choice). The Eagles are absolutely desperate for a WR. I don't think this is that far-fetched.

  9. Josh Reed and a low pick for Simon.

Hear me out - I don't usually propose these wild trade scenarios, but this one makes perfect sense. The Eagles NEED a WR, especially with Owens hurting again. Reed would be a good fit in that offense - he's an excellent blocker and he's tough (he has stone hands and no confidence, but let's not tell them that). Simon wants out of there - he's one of the better "penetrating" d-tackles in the league, a real quick, disruptive force when he wants to be. You can't turn down the opportunity to get a player like that.

    Thoughts?

  10. Interesting - good work.

I think they keep one more RB - probably Burns (he surprises us every year by making the team), and release Jonathan Smith, who has become expendable with Parrish.

I also think Leonhard somehow makes it (perhaps on the PS), and Ezekial makes the practice squad.

There is no way Bannan makes the team, IMO.

  11. Are you implying this is Bush's fault?

Damn that didn't take long.

It's Bushs fault the plane crashed, it's Bushs  fault this lady is a B word and it's Bushs fault it was raining and the passengers had to get wet trying to flee.

Wow, that pretty much goes up there with some of the more stupid things I have seen implied.

    397339

Nope, wrong poster. I'm more likely to blame the Sunnis.

  12. You know what, guys? Flying sucks. Ever tried to deal with an airline after you've missed your connection because of some stupid crap, like they didn't have flight attendants in the airport for your first flight? They could give a crap - they act like they're the customer, not you. These passengers just had their airline crash into a ball of flames and nearly kill them. They're entitled to vent a bit. I'm not gonna argue that people don't suck - they do, but how about a more pertinent, salient example - from, oh, say, the Middle East?

  13. Check out this little (totally inaccurate) blurb from this weeks' Don Banks column:

    http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2005/writ....rebirth/1.html

After the Browns had already released Jeff Garcia following his doomed one-year stint as the team's starting quarterback, it was Dilfer's unexpected availability via trade that prompted Savage and Crennel to let veteran QB Kelly Holcomb join Buffalo during free agency and deal second-year passer Luke McCown to Tampa Bay.

Ridiculous. The Browns dropped the ball on Holcomb and he bolted, prompting them to panic and trade for Trent Dilfer. Is Banks becoming a Browns' homer now? This guy's reporting has slipped steadily since he guaranteed Damien Woody to Buffalo.

  14. The Saints are a HORRID franchise. Last year they were complaining that Deuce wasn't tough enough and wasn't in good enough shape. Then they turn around and give him a bloated contract. It's always the same thing with that team - one day they're bitching about their coach, quarterback, prospect, etc., the next day they're shelling out $$ to these guys.

BTW - this is exactly the contract McGahee will get - he's a very similar back. Whether it's the Bills that give it to him remains to be seen.
