  1. You don’t want it at guard either. Or d-line.
  2. Yup. Easley was a stud on Teams and was making some noise to factor into the offense but suffered a brutal injury that basically ended his career (something like ruptured patella).
  3. In Beane's post-draft session with Chris Brown, he seemed to admit that he was eying running backs with the late-round picks but then reached an oral agreement with Latavius Murray's agent and promised the agent he wouldn't draft a RB. What I said in the Murray thread - the real value he brings is that signing him prevents Beane from wasting other/more resources on the position. Seems like drafting Broecker and/or Austin was a direct result of Murray agreeing to terms... amazing.
  4. So the way he helps win games is by allowing/forcing them NOT to invest MORE resources in the position. THAT is what excites me about the signing.
  5. This kid may actually make it. He can play.
  6. The only area of the roster where the Bills are demonstrably better is o-line. And that might be enough. The struggles at LG and RT last year cascaded into constant issues for Allen and the offense. If Brown is healthy and McGovern isn’t a turnstile they’re already better - and Torrence will compete for snaps as well (I’m not yet convinced he starts week 1). Beyond that, it’s all about injury luck. On offense, any loss of Allen (obviously), Diggs, Dawkins, Knox or Kinkaid, in that order probably, will make things significantly tougher. On defense, they are thin up the middle - which is where you don’t want to be thin. I expect Beane knows that and will be adding some beef over the next several weeks. Overall they still have given themselves a small margin for error with the lack of true playmakers on offense. They seem to realize the issue but have left themselves with limited resources to deal with it, hence the lottery-ticket approach to acquiring receivers this offseason despite being connected to multiple “big names.”
  7. Higgins is the comp I made upthread - that’s his ceiling, I think.
  8. Great work Gunner I’ve enjoyed your analysis in the run-up and throughout the draft. As for Williams - as I said in his pick thread he looks like a Mike to me, and I think there’s a chance he ends up in the middle sooner rather than later. He has broad shoulders and a compact base, he squares up, sees-and-goes with little wasted movement, and is a sure tackler - when he hits you the play ends. He looks like a middle linebacker to me and I’m glad they might see it that way too.
  9. The offense was too predictable and had zero margin for error. That’s what they’re solving for.
  10. 5-star recruit Team captain Ideal measurables Fills clear need Checks ample boxes for a 5th in a weak draft.
  11. Just generally imposing their will on defenses a bit more instead of having to rely on perfect execution.
  12. At least he’s high upside and a scheme fit. Ceiling is Tee Higgins, but needs to get much faster jump off the snap.
  13. Another day 2 middling running back - this one with arthritis and no ACL in his knee - sounds spot-on 🤣!
  14. So I’ll say this - despite what Beane said last night he looks like a Mike to me. He squares up and attacks downhill and doesn’t waste a lot of movement, and when he hits you the play is over, none of that “alligator death roll” tackling that Edmunds specializes in despite having like 20 lbs on this guy. When you watch Williams he looks like a middle.
  15. Agree with all of your thoughts. The mix-and-match approach to the o-line is so confounding, is Beane one of those people who goes to the movies and dumps his M&M’s and nachos into his popcorn? That’s how they approach the offensive line but at least, as you point out, they’re making it a priority. Agree also that Milano likely mans the middle absent any further additions there.
  16. Barring any further additions I think this has to be the plan - but they’d better have a backup plan. Not sure how they expect Milano to hold up all season manning the middle spot.
  17. I mean I hope they didn’t just burn a 3rd on a future Matkevich replacement…
  18. It does feel like another Cody Ford/Boogie Basham moment for Beane - poor scheme fit, heavy-footed plodder in the second who they’ll say they “were seriously thinking about in the first.”
  19. Antonio Johnson still out there right?
  20. Wonder if Beane was hoping Mapu would last to 91.
  21. Thanks - I thought they said he’d be manning the LG in Buffalo. Again though, putting Torrence between Morse and Brown is … odd.
