  1. There's a good reason for this. The Pats have/had a 30,000 wait list for season tickets and stadium security were like the Gestapo with unruly fans. Any infraction and you lose your seasons. Happened to my buddy's company. They used Pats tickets to schmooze clients. One game a client did something and boom! Tickets pulled. They were STH'ers for over 40 years. Kraft don't care. Worst drunks I've ever seen were Canadians in the Jim Kelly Club. Cleveland game 12/18/16. Literally falling over people in seats. That was also the game I ran into Bill Fichtner. He had a buzz.
  2. Good news, Sabres come back and beat the Flyers. Bad news, reports say Ullmark will test free agency. So Adams has to move him tomorrow.
  3. That Trenton stadium is only a few years old. Very nice minor league facility. Still shocked MLB dumped them.
  4. He really ought to try and open one in Buffalo. I mean just for name value.
  5. Jays are at their spring training facility in Dunedin. Raptors in Tampa at the Lightning's arena.
  6. Can't recall disliking any Bills player while they played, but I have a healthy dislike for Fred Smerlas for the crap he talks about the team and the city on Boston radio.
  7. This will be fun. 20% capacity is expected to be allowed. About 3500-4000 per game.
  8. 10K, sure, no Buffalo. But Buffalo often gets regional gatherings. This article cites that conventions and conferences in Buffalo account for 30,000 hotel bookings a year. Is that a lot? I have no idea. But if you divide that number by 52 weeks, 577 hotel bookings a week come from conference and convention business. https://www.wkbw.com/rebound/what-does-the-future-hold-for-the-buffalo-niagara-convention-center
  9. Look at the post you responded to again. I quoted Lambeau prices for 2021. Cheapest seats are $118. (I don't know if that's ST or Single Game price.) But that is more than double what the Bills are charging. I believe cheapest ST is $45/game. So holding up a renovated Lambeau as an example for the Bills to keep ticket prices low doesn't jibe.
  10. Just curious if you priced tickets at Lambeau or Arrowhead? Retractable roofs are a waste of money. An extra $300-500MM for what amounts to a sunroof. Better to build something like US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. Glass roof with walls that open.
  11. I hope Terry & Kim have the right people crunching those numbers. It's a big decision.
  12. I would think a dome would be favored if only for our awesome passing game.
  13. I guess they were done waiting on the Texans.
  14. Unless studies show there is more revenue to be made in the long run locating in downtown.
  15. You can't get around the fact pro sports are expensive and a luxury.
  16. One reason to replace what we have is what we have is getting old. I know I was surprised to learn that Highmark (meh) Stadium is older than War Memorial was when it was replaced. And those of us old enough to remember that dump believed it was built by the Romans. But the real reason for a new stadium is money. It's why the NFL has been pushing for one for what seems like forever. As far as the league is concerned, Bills tickets are too cheap. And you can't simply double prices in your current stadium. You have to build a new palace. And it's more than just ticket prices. Other than charging you for parking, teams don't make money off tailgating. Instead of acres of people eating food they brought with them, replace it with bars and restaurants in and around your new palace, some of which the team owner might have a stake in. So get ready for change.
  17. Something that @Kirby Jacksonpointed out that matters here: you can't create a new pricing structure without a new facility. That alone makes a new stadium a given.

  19. Actually Buffalo was passed over for Miami in expansion. But then Bob Rich was offered the Expos for $190MM instead. He passed. He never had to pay a franchise fee but he know he could never afford to compete in MLB.
  20. There was talk of burying the 190 under downtown ala Big Dig. But it would be easier to do if they dug out the highway next to the current one.
  21. I'll just put this here. Could be another April Fools prank.
  22. They have been pretty good, though the last Rangers game was their worst effort of the year. Ullmark single-handedly stole that point. The most disappointing player so far has been Eichel. Could be lingering injury or not having a full camp. But he's been very meh this year. I'm hoping the good play isn't another early season mirage like the last few seasons.
  23. He was a Covid opt-out.
