Speculative article on friction between McDermott and Staff?PromoTheRobot replied to BillsMafi$'s topic in The Stadium Wall That's where a reporter's credibility comes in question. Anonymous sources are critical in reporting and many important stories were broke with anonymous sources. Then again, you can fling a lot of garbage that way. So how much do you trust the writer? Does he/she have a record of solid work or throwing bombs?

I'm not entirely sure why either. I had heard UB for got with a $100K bill for snow removal at the last game they played there. There is also a belief they want students on campus to be able to walk to games. But I don't understand why they don't play one game when students are off from school, like the season finale. As for the Pegulas, didn't they invite UB to share the be stadium and the school said no?

The NFL has a long history of ignoring or avoiding rules from rival leagues or college, only to give in and adopt them later.
-
The last round of conference changes showed me that UB is stuck in the MAC forever. Here you have Conference USA get gutted by two rival conferences, The AAC and Sun Belt, and rather than even consider UB they add doormats like New Mexico State and several FCS schools moving up. Neither of the AAC or Sun Belt even considered UB either. Then you have two C-USA schools offered spots in the MAC; Western Kentucky and Middle Tennessee State. Both chose to stay on the sinking C-USA ship than join the MAC. Besides the obvious problems of UB like stadium and attendance, the bigger problem is Buffalo itself. Pro sports town in the north. Not a college sports market. The northeast, outside of Syracuse, is considered a college sports dead zone. So as long as UB is a D1 school it will always be a MAC school because no one else will have them.

Bills interested in signing Rob Gronkowski, per Tim GrahamPromoTheRobot replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall He'd probably like that.

I hope/expect PSLs to be somewhat reasonable. If they average $2000 for 50K, that's $100MM total. A drop in the bucket but it's something. I also expect the option to pay over time, say a $200 surcharge over 10 years. I don't think it's goes to anything but stadium financing. If the above tweet is correct, PSLs would be ¼ to ⅓ of the $400MM Pegulas share. The NFL will kick in some and the rest will come from Terry. If the plan includes some retail development, (shops, restaurants, hotels) that will add some funding as well.

No it wouldn't. Start at 75 yards out instead of 25. Like I posted above, in 37 FBS games that went to OT, all but 6 went beyond two rounds. That would be fine. Only 6 FBS games out of 37 went longer than 2 rounds. Most end after one.

That happens like how often? Once in a hundred games? https://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/college-gridiron-365/os-sp-college-football-overtime-0130-story.html

College OT is fair and doable. I don't get the opposition to it.

To make room for the skyline outline.

Same here. I thought they had some of these original USFL folks involved. There's no question the old USFL nostalgia has value. Much of Fox's promotion of the new league is rooted in nostalgia. The names, logos and colors of these teams are 99% based on the originals. It will be interesting to see what a judge thinks. My conspiratorial mind can't help but think The Rock called in some favors.

Those where the sinks. But when in Rome... That at least partially explains how an open air stadium will end up costing as much as a dome. Most stands covered, heated field and concourses, It's basically a dome with a donut hole. I will concede on the downtown dome thing, but I hope the Pegulas look at adding commercial development to the stadium campus. A scaled down Patriot Place. And for heaven's sake, build some hotels!!

Sorry it's a paywall. https://theathletic.com/3153981/2022/02/28/bills-stadium-faq-financing-agreement-for-new-orchard-park-project-likely-to-be-announced-soon/ Basically saying the reason for silence lately is both sides are close to getting it done. Could be announced right before state budget vote. Definitely will be open air, natural grass, in OP. (Congrats @Hammered a Lot)

Just say John Wawrow. The Sabres are run by Kevin Adams and Jason Karmanos. They actually need to learn how to play in their end. How to defend and how to leave the zone without turning the puck over.

	Going around the rumor mill
-
The first step to respectability is getting out of rock bottom. The Sabres can't just buy their way out with free agents. They have to develop their picks. It takes time. Bringing up the last ten years doesn't make things go faster now.
-
Absolutely WRONG! Buffalo is a hockey town and belongs in the NHL. Any franchise we let leave is gone forever. I have watched every single second of Sabres hockey this year, and pretty much every year. If all you do is check the scores and standings it's easy to think they are a basket case. But actually they are where the Bills were in 2018. They blew up the old core and are cultivating a new one. They are a very young team and players that need to develop. But I can tell you this team is already much better than the s##t show they were last year under Krueger. In many games they are playing well only to screw up in their end and give up a goal.
