1. We might lose and not score any points...and how is that different from what we have now?

Everyone seems pretty confident that Shane Matthews would not be an improvement over Drew Bledsoe. That opinion is based on his pedigree more than anyone actually seeing him play. Of course, these are the same people who thought Drew Bledsoe was a quality QB!

Losman is not ready to play, but I'm sure sick of watching Blew Dredsoe kill this team week after week. I say start Matthews until Losman is ready. At least one damn game, just to see if it makes a difference! I'll bet they sell the rest of the 7,000 tix for Arizona if the announced Matthews and McGahee were starting.

  2. Fault #1 - Tom Donahoe for assembling a bunch of a$$clowns, Drew Bledsoe being a$$clown #1.

Fault #2 - Drew Bledsoe for sucking

Fault #3 - Offensive line for sucking

Fault #4 - Troy Vincent for breaking JP Losman's leg

Fault #5 - Coaching for blindly sticking with a$$clown #1 at QB

Fault #6- Tom Donahoe becuase he deserves to be on the list twice.

  3. There is absolutely nothing Matthews could do right now that would help this team get better. Putting in Matthews would simply allow a handful of people to say "I was right, you were wrong" on either side of the coin, and that does nothing to advance your team.

Two more losses and we're done. If Losman is healthy, see what he can do. If Losman can get six, seven or even eight games under his belt this year, THAT advances your team.

Matthews does nothing but appease those who need immediate gratification.

Considering how people feel when the Bills win a game, isn't it worth a try? I'm not saying that Matthews will lead them to victory, but I can guarentee the Bills lose every game Bledsoe starts! You can always put Drew back in if Matthews plays worse, although that's hard to imagine. This is "garbage time" now people. The season is O-V-E-R!

  4. Is Matthews going to rattle off six wins in a row for the Bills.  Probably not.  And Bledsoe won't either.  Either guy might win a game here and there, but they're not going to ignite a playoff run.

We're all hanging fire right now waiting for Losman to get healthy.  He needs to follow the Leftwich program this year.

Right now switching Matthews for Bledsoe is nothing more than a cosmetic change.  Bills fans should be preparing to take their lumps with J.P. in hope of better things to come.

Right...let's not mess with the "team chemistry"...let's just lose with Drew until JP is ready.

there's the list, bledsoe-#11 soon to be #10

This has nothing to do with how he is playing now, I'm just responding to a post about his career as a whole. you have to give hime some credit for having a solid career as a quarterback.

Stats lie. Look at that list. Yeah, there are a lot of Hall of Famers, but there are a lot of journeymen as well who racked up big numbers by playing from behind their whole careers. The only stats that matter are wins and rings, baby.

  6. We can end this Matthews vs Bledsoe debate by letting Shane start a game and see what happens. I think what people fear more is Matthews outplaying Bledsoe. Bledsoe's performance is a huge black mark on Tom Donahoe's "genius" resume. Every week he looks more like rube for getting swindled by the Patriots. If Shane Matthews threw for 3 TD's and 300+ yards with the same Bills offense, that would just be the cherry on the sundae.

  7. I can't comprehend why Matthews has not seen some playing time. Is he that bad? If he is, why did we sign him? The rap on Matthews is that he lacks arm strength. But aren't the Bills trying to run a ball-control dink-and-dunk offense now? An offense that Drew Bledsoe is incapable of running becuase Mr. Cannon-Arm has to fire a 3-yd screen pass like it was fired from a Howitzer?

We are 1-5 and Coach M acts like Matthews would be any worse than Bledsoe? I don't understand.

  8. yeah but RJs line was much better then Drews

Marcus Spriggs, Jerry Ostroski, John Fina, Jamie Nails  and we went to the playoffs.  How come people did not shower RJ with excuses like they do our sacred cow?

I seem to recall people saying that O-line sucked too.

  9. Just you wait. As soon as Losman has a bad game, everyone will B word because he's not playing like Rothlesberger. Then he'll be called a bust, and Donahoe will be frankenstein's monster. Trust me.

    83366

We will never get to see that because they are going to stick with Bledsoe the rest of the year. He'll just have to suck all by himself.

  10. 1. Zero rushing TDs. - Bledsoe's bad play lets defenses to key on our run.

    2. Penalties - certainly not defensive penalties, but lack of mobility, lack of pocket presence, and taking too long to throw contributes to holding calls.

    3. WRs with hands of stone - Bledsoe can't hit a WR in the numbers from 5 yards away. It's not a question of hands of stone, it's a matter of accuracy and touch, which Bledsoe has neither.

    4. Poor playcalling - If Drew could see more than one receiver, maybe some of those plays would work.

    5. Crappy o-line - Even when the O-line protects him, Bledsoe misfires because he's shellshocked.

You are right...benching Bledsoe would solve a lot of problems!

  11. Mularkey sucks as coach he doesn't know how to coach a team.  We need an experienced coach to coach these guys.    also sit Bledsoe for Losman!!!!  McGahee needs to start.  Also Mularkey shows no emotion!!!!!

    82946

That's the LEAST of our problems. What do you want him to do? B word-slap Bledsoe...hmmmm.

I would rather have the Bills win, but I do think the game made my point. Everyone was giddy they won. But they were still making the same dumb plays they always do. They just happened to beat a worse team. But I had to get crap from you because I was negative after a win. I mean people were talking 12-game winning streaks!! There's being positive, then there's being absurd.

  13. Fine....be honest and critical of your team....but the basis of this thread sounds like you are questioning the loyalty of other fans just because they dont agree with you....I PROMISE YOU THAT I AM EVERY BIT A FAN OF THIS TEAM AS YOU ARE.......whether I pay 1 dolllar or 1000 dollars.....

That being said...it sounds like that 500 mile drive and watching the team lose is eating away at you inside....might I suggest being charitable with the tickets to someone else would like to go see an NFL game?  You could save yourself the drive.

    83140

You misunderstand...I did not question other people's loyalty. I was accused of not being loyal because I was critical of the way the Bills played against Miami, even though they won the game.

  14. Promo, you are too smart too simplify this game as you have.

Did Reed drop 2 easy passes in a row? Did Bust Williams give up numerous sacks? Did Moulds/Evans cause interceptions? Did Travis Gump gain any yards? Did he throw a blocK?

As for the Defense, how many 3rd down conversions did they give up? Please, focus on something other than Bledsoe once. Then, post this thought so we all will know that you are capable of doing so.

    83125

Thank you for the complement, but you have to look at Drew Bledsoe's complete body of work. Yes, you can dissect each game and show where someone didn't do something they were supposed to. But week after week after week, the result is still the same. The only constant is Drew Bledose. He's the only part of the offense that hasn't changed the last 25 games. There somes a point where you have to admit the man is losing games for you.

  15. What about the running game, they deserve some credit for the loss, too. They did absolutely NOTHING for us in the red zone.  We were forced to pass in situations that are not at all conducive to passing. Baltimores defense was also amazing. What lost this game for us was a combination of three things: A) Poor quarterback play B) Poor running back play, most especially within the endzone, and C) A defense that attacks relentlessly.

    83118

When a defense knows they have nothing to fear from a QB, they can stack against the run. DB's bad play hurts the run game, especially in the red zone.

  16. drew didn't light it up today for sure, but he sure as hell didn't lose the game for us.  he made ONE mistake (the second deion int).  good teams throw one interception and still win.  wide receivers aren't supposed to drop balls though.  that is where the other picks came from.  the line didn't block for stevestojan today either (but what's new  )

    83059

I'm not sure which Ravens/Bills game you watched. The one I watched had Drew Bledsoe lose the game for us.
