"....Here we are at Bills camp and you can smell the failure in the air...or is that urine from the used Depends of the geriatric General Manager Marv Levy and fossilized owner Ralph Wilson. We'd love to tell you about what's new here at the Bills training facility, about what players expect to break out, but why bother? We all know the Bills stink. We're just listening for the sound of the moving vans to pull up to take this fart of a franchise to L.A. Back to you, Rich Eisen!"

I personally think you're seeing the Marv and Jauron hype machine at work right now. Planting stories in the press from sources within the organization about how JP is working hard and winning the job. I think this was their plan all along. And they were trying to undo the handed the job problem the vets had last year and some fans did, also.
This is just the first of a series of little stories you'll see. Losman will soon be named the starter and start to become the leader. I am also not saying this is bad, it's probably smart. But the winning the job in practice was all a farce IMO. They knew he would win the job. You don't have the pressure on you in practice to show if you can handle the live bullets.
And what can veterans like London Fletcher say? They aren't at the OTA's. You could say the same thing about vets that skip OTA's. Are their starting jobs being "handed" to them?

Americans are used to watching the best play in their sports leagues. MLB: best baseball. NFL: best football. NHL & NBA: tops in their sports. MLS? Somewhere below English beer leagues.
I can prove it. Check the ratings for World Cup in the USA. It's not NFL ratings but it's a lot better than MLS. Why? Best soccer in the world and a rooting interest in Team USA.
I suggest instead of the MLS, have just two teams. New York and L.A. The New York team would play European teams. L.A. plays latin teams. Recruit top soccer talent and pay them obscene bucks to play here. I bet you'd get some interest then.
Don't you think the European and Latin leagues would love to have teams in the USA?

I watched some of the first game. The guy from Germany kicked the ball...then a guy from Costa Rica kicked the ball to his teamate, who lost it to a German guy...who kicked it out of bounds...
....I changed the channel.PTR

These are the doldrums for football. It can't be easy to fill a 24-hour football talk channel when there is absolutely nothing going on. These guys are just polishing Saban's knob because he's the sexy coach right now. As soon as another shiny object distracts them, they will move on.

I personally could give a crap what they say but I also think there is going to be some crow eaten:
Last year we were predicted to make a playoff run based on a dominating D, a ground oriented attack riding the back of McGahee and a conservative apporoach to allow a young qb to cut his teeth.
Well, D had some key injuries and underachieved. Mcgahee sat on 3rd downs and whatever that offense we had was called, it was not conservative. We left Losman hung out to dry imho.
My point is this: we were competetive last year in most games and now we seem to have direction. There is still talent here and, although anything is possible, in my opinion we will be anything but horrid.
When we aren't getting kicked around like predicted those m'fers can kiss our collective asses.
The bar for hiring sports writers is getting lower all the time. Right now all you need is a pulse and a Wonderlic score above 6. I would not take anything any of them say seriously.

Exactly, you see, I can see where he gets his other opinions from, and it is possble for the bills to be the worst team in the division, but when he states that Raplh voted against it because he didnt understand it.. well, he lost me there, this guy OBV does not understand it! He is repeating what he heard from other people...
Again...see the source....PATRIOTS FOOTBALL WEEKLY!!!! WHat do you think they are going to say? They get all their Bills info from Fred Smerlas.

So teams probably pass in rounds 1-3 and might pick one 4th or later. Then they lose that pick in 2007?

I kind of wish the Pats had won that competition.
Price had a career year in 2002 but is gutless when it comes to going over the middle and won't block. He'd have 150 more catches if he didn't have alligator arms and hear footsteps.
I don't miss his half efforts at all. This was the one off-season signing I couldn't understand.
You can bet that if the Pats signed Price, it would have been called another masterstroke by the genius Bill Belichick. Since the Bills signed him, it's just another blunder by Team Senile.

That's a funny post, since Chris Brown has been saying in his Bills Blog that Nall has been the odd man out in the OTA's and that Losman has been tremendous. But you must have some inside scoop that even Chris Brown doesn't have, so I defer to your post.

They forgot to mention music by Mark Mothersbaugh Devo, and the Residents! One of the best TV shows ever. Too bad Paul Ruebens couldn't keep little Pee Wee under wraps. I forgot about Lawrence Fishburne. Was he Cowboy Curtis?
Show trivia:
Ranked #10 in TV Guide's list of the "25 Top Cult Shows Ever!" (30 May 2004 issue).
It is often assumed that the main reason for the cancellation of the series was Paul Reubens' indictment for obscenity in Florida, but in fact Reubens and CBS had mutually agreed to end the show in 1991. CBS did, however, choose not to air the reruns of episodes they had planned for August of that year, and the final network telecast was 27 July 1991.
The theme song was sung by Cyndi Lauper, but is listed in the credits by her real name, Ellen Shaw.
The concept for the show actually came from Andy Kaufman with his co-writer Bob Zmuda, who dubbed it "Andy's Funhouse". It was based of Kaufman's experiences doing children's birthday parties and performing for children. But he developed lung cancer and was unable to do the show. Before Kaufman's death, Reubens got permission from Kaufman to do it himself.
Rob Zombie was a production assistant on the show.

Did Fred Smerlas let everyone know how much he hates the Bills and how he thinks everyone associated with the team are a bunch of tools? Oh wait, he only says that stuff on his radio show.

Not to mention the Edmonton fans in their building for games 1 and 2. It will be 50% Oiler fans I predict.

Buffalo was in the final draw with Florida and Denver back in the days. Since then the Rockies have struggled but the Marlins have won TWO World Championships (granted one was via spend-spend-spend, but the other was via a bunch of no-names). There's no guarantee they'd fail out of the gate.
On a similarly tiny budget the Oakland A's have achieved constant success.
I'm not saying Buffalo should even TRY to get a MLB team (it would NEVER happen), but the fact the city is a "small market" does not necessarily equate to failure. Sure, the Bisons could be the next Royals or Pirates, but bring in smart enough talent evaluators and quality coaches/management and they could be the next A's. I'm pretty sure most Buffalo sports fans would take making the playoffs four out of every five years?
I can see us trying to sign free-agents. "I swear to God, A-Rod it doesn't snow in April...okay maybe once in a while. Will another 100 million change your mind?"

I dont get it. Why blame any veteran if the camps are voluntary. And this horseshit about Willis missing out on all the new terminology is insane, Why are new techniques being taught at voluntary camps? They should be taught at mandatory meetings when all players are present. Dont blame any veteran for not attending these voluntary meetings. I agree with Willis. Let him enjoy his time off in Miami. if he does not perform in minicamp, then cut him.
Union rules make the OTA's optional. But there is an unspoken expectation between teams and players that if you are serious about playing, you'll be there. It's sort of like that scene in the movie Office Space between Jennifer Anniston and that dork restaurant manager

IIRC, not only were they in the running, they were leading the way.
MLB wanted a baseball only stadium. Buffalo had one in recently built (at that time) Pilot Field. The seating capacity is small now, but the stadium was designed so that seating capacity could easily increased to around 50k.
The Bisons lead the nation in attendance for AAA baseball for two years, and were better than some pro teams, despite having a smaller stadium.
The pitch job to MLB was best among the candidates. The Buffalo delegation was prepared, polished, and blew away the MLB committee.
So why didn't Buffalo get a team? Rich finally saw the light, and realized it didn't matter what Buffalo or Washington, DC did or was going to do, neither city was going to be awarded a franchise. MLB was bent on putting a team in Florida and somewhere in the Mountain time zone. That pretty much left the competition to Miami, Denver and the Tampa area.
Rich pulled the plug for his quest of a MLB team, citing the financial future of BB player salaries as being out of control.
Just as well, too. The MLB Buffalo Bisons would have been bottom-feeders, losing what few prospects we'd have to the Red Sox and Yankees, kind of what KC and Pittsburgh are now.

Most Bills choose to live in Orchard Park or East Aurora. Most Sabres seem to wind up in Clarence, although a few did live in the Bidwell Park/Elmwood Ave area. There are many nice parts in Buffalo with gorgeous homes, and some mansions, that you can buy for a steal.

Mark Cuban, the luckiest human being alive

He sold a dot.com for $5.7 BILLION to Yahoo!
Cuban cornholes Yahoo
I was researching internet radio royalties and came across that article about Mark Cuban. Considering his team, the Dallas Mavericks, are about to go 2-up on the Miami Heat, I was just contemplating how this guy literally **** gold!
In the 90's, during the dot.com craze, he had a website called Broadcast.com. It was were you could hear and see any radio or tv station online. Great idea, right? Of course this was all during the wild west days before internet streaming royalties. (I should also point out that in the 90's there was no such thing as high-speed internet, so everything came down a piss-poor 56K dial-up. You can imagine what that was like!)
Anyway, in 1999 Yahoo felt like they had too much money, and decided to give Mark Cuban $5.7 BILLION for his crappy little website. I'm sure Mark had to wait almost a nanosecond to accept their offer.
No sooner did Yahoo buy Broadcast.com, the whole internet royalty thing exploded, nearly killing online broadcasting I might add. Needless to say, Broadcast.com was rendered worthless. In fact, if you try to go to Broadcast.com now, all it does is redirect you to Yahoo. $5.7 BILLLION for that!!!!
Mark Cuban has since devoted his life to finding out how much fun he could have with $5.7 BILLION dollars, including buying an NBA franchise to play with.
Mark Cuban is the luckiest mofo in the world. He didn't just win the lottery, he won the biggest Powerball jackpot 20 times over!! And he did it by selling nothing but a domain name, and an idea that turned to crap.
All hail Mark Cuban!!
