  1. Well, before everyone overreacts, Bruce Smith had drug issues early in his career and he was just inducted to the Hall of Fame. It should be legal anyhow or, at the very least, decriminalized and treated as alcohol is treated. Of course, the gun thing complicates this, but again, he wasn't shooting people. He may not be very bright, but he can run the ball and execute his plays for the most part. However, he may not be so fortunate with the league -- I suspect the league won't be so easy on him this time.
  2. I hope Ralph does right by Freddy Jackson and pay him what he deserves to be paid. I know he's required to play for Buffalo one more season, but it would sure be nice to see the Bills get a long-term deal done with him. The situation with Lynch just makes this all the more important.
  3. Bingo! That's what I'd like to see also. I don't know why Johnson wasn't utilized more last season.
  4. Sure, a coach that doesn't make a lot of demands, admits that its hard to win in the NFL, and constantly praises his players whether they deserve it or not -- what's not to like from the player's perspective? Seriously, it would seem that there must be SOMETHING to the fact that the players love this guy. However, if they really want to show their devotion to him, then some players need to STEP UP and LEAD this team to a Super Bowl or at least make the playoffs.
  5. Leadership. Leadership has been missing since Kelly left. There has not been a take-charge guy like Kelly since he left. Also, remember how Thurman wrote "Super Bowl" on his shoes during training camp in 1990?! Where is that guy today? Who's the guy that dreams big? Whitner? Ha. He promised the playoffs and the team couldn't even make it. Thurman Thomas writes two simple words on his shoes and what happens -- they make it to the Super Bowl. It has to start with a goal, with a vision. That team really wanted to go to the Super Bowl. Today's teams just flounder. They have no leadership or direction. There's no guys stepping up to lead this team.
  6. Yes, but which one? We could start with Joey Porter. Maybe we could toss the big Tuna, himself, over the falls. I'd hate to harm a REAL dolphin.
  7. Well, if they move, they've got to change the name from the Bills to something else. Bills *ONLY* goes with Buffalo -- anything else just wouldn't make sense.
  8. Absolutely. The guy is a playmaker, plain and simple. He's done it two years in a row now behind a suspect O-line. He's the real deal and not some fluke. Time to pay up and keep this guy a Bill forever.
  9. It's the "West Ghost Offense" -- kind of see shadows, but it never really materializes.
  10. Yeah, I remember that one well, too. Then he was wide open the next play, but Kelly wasn't going to throw to him again after that.
  11. Andre Reed's critical drop of a 3rd-down pass in the 2nd quarter in XXV, killing an important drive. The Giants defense was hitting hard and they had successfully rattled Reed. It was a game-changing play, IMO.
  12. Unquestionably DE. Not going to go far without rushing the opponent's passer.
  13. What does everyone think about the pickup of Buddy Nix? It's at least good to see that they are not standing pat in that area -- they need some help with scouting talent. http://www.buffalonews.com/452/story/560635.html
  14. Exactly! There is no comfort in coming "close". It's Brandon's job to get guys like this signed and if he can't do it, then maybe someone else can. Results are all that matter -- this isn't horseshoes.
  15. Yeah, amazing stupidity to run a play like that with so little time remaining -- not even giving your QB a chance at a spike and getting at least 3 points out of the deal. I thought only Jauron was this stupid, but it looks like he has a little company this evening.
  16. Yes, that was nice! Great to see that play get some more coverage. It was brilliant. What happened?!?!?! Why did this season have to unravel?! Crap.
  17. Does anyone know what percentage of the total work force of the Buffalo News that the 300 employees represent?
  18. Yep, Fred Jackson for sure. Comes ready to play all the time. Gotta get this guy resigned *AND* during the offseason -- none of this distracting crap of signing a guy in October like they did with Evans -- get it done in the offseason. The season is a time to focus on football and the opponent and not on contracts.
  19. Bullough, hands down, worst coach this team has ever had. Players had no respect for him and didn't want to play for him. Buffalo's had some bad coaches over the years, but none hold a candle to Bullough.
  20. Great memories of snatching victory from the jaws of defeat instead of the other way around. Thanks!
  21. Kelly was quite immobile toward the very end of his career. He was great, but he retired about the right time. Maybe he could have extended his career a year or two with a more disciplined workout routine -- who knows -- maybe he was already trying to, but the bottom line is that his best years were easily behind him when he retired.
  22. I agree about the pass rush. Center is critical -- probably #2 need on this team, but DE is #1 need IMO.
  23. Yep. "Our guys work hard. They really work hard". How many times has Dick told us this? Problem is that Dick's definition of work doesn't really match his opponent's definition of work and it's fairly clear most Sunday afternoons. Well, if team is stuck with Dick for HC, then some players had better step up and start providing some leadership because they're not going to get it from their coach.
  24. Yeah, you're probably right here. I'm just so fed up with this team right now.
  25. Cut him. Bye bye Ko. What an idiot. It's truly amazing how NFL players don't understand when they have a good thing (e.g. Michael Vick, Plexico Burress, many, many, many others -- FAR too numerous a group of people to list them all). It's as though their emotional intelligence stopped growing at the age of 7. Too bad it's such a lightweight charge. He'll just basically walk away from it with a bigger head than ever.
