  1. I've always liked "Teflon Tom" myself.
  2. Murder by Death. Great movie.
  3. Captain Lawrence E. G. Oates. He was one of the members of the doomed Scott expedition to the South Pole. On March 17th, Oates, when he knew he was going to die, left the tent that he and three others were sheltered in. He thought that by leaving he would help prolong the lives of the others by not taking any of the few supplies they had left. His only words to his companions before he left are quoted in my sig line. Unfortunately, the other three only live 12 day longer than he did. The most horrible part of the whole story is that they were only eight miles from a cache of supplies that might have saved their lives. I think it was one of the most courageous acts I've ever heard of.
  4. I guess I'm just surprised that a writer for what I thought was a reputable newspaper would so blatantly rip off such a sophomoric insult, especially when it is so obvious that he stole it from another writer. I guess I'll have add Murray to the ever growing list of "professional" sports writers who exist only to spew their vitriol and negativity (or report as news tips from "fans").
  5. When did Commander Tom become the new slander label for TD? With Weiler I expect such colorful nicknames, but now Pat Murray from Niagara Gazette has also taken to call him that. Are these two writers really the same person or is this just lazy journalism?
  6. Coxsackie, NY/36/Delmar, NY
  7. "Mr. Selig, the congressmen will see you now."
  8. SUNY Albany BA in 91 MS in 95 LA are you from Windham? I graduated from Coxsackie-Athens in 87. Small world.
  9. Only if they moved to Rochester or Syracuse.
  10. Ohhh... I thought maybe Miro was looking for work now that the NHL season is cancelled.
  11. "I wish I was Kris Benson."
  12. The game also appears on the schedule page for the Patriots. They may be wrong, but at least their consistant.
  13. I'll bet his website uses RSS to find articles that contain his name and automatically post them on the website. I once saw a environmentalist website that setup RSS for news items about Dolphins (the real Marine Mammals)... but all the articles listed were all about the Dolhags (the lousy football team). Edited 2:09PM- Its still there. If you're interested the site is: Whaling.com It's about midway down the page
  14. KRC -Have you tried Ommegang's Witte beer? They brew it in Cooperstown and I see it in a lot of beer store here in NY but I'm not sure if it's available out-of-state. Very refreshing, tastes great. Nice summer beer.
  15. "Man! I do have big feet!"
  16. Their mock draft has the Bills taking Ronald Fields (DT) from Miss. St. with their first pick. Questionable motor?? They'd never take him. The Bills only draft "high motor" player.
  17. Coating all the flat surfaces in a bar with a highly flammable substance? That's sounds like a good idea.
  18. It's too bad really. In its heyday, Empire was a great source for sport info. in WNY, especially for those of us who live out of the area. Even though things kinda dropped off after the Adelphia debacle it will be missed.
  19. I thought Mark's point was that he is worth our (late) second round pick.
  20. I listened to them for years and they never said anything positive about the Bills without following up with some kind of negative comment. Fat Mike seems to have a pathological hatred of the Bills. Mad Dog is just an idiot with a whiney voice. The entertaining thing about those two is that they really dislike each other personally and sometimes it slips into the show.
  21. He's on ESPN radio with Cowherd now
  22. Capital Region Time Warner removed it from their programming lineup yesterday. I called to complain about it 3 weeks ago (they ran a notice on Ch. 674 about it). They politely told me to go scratch. So I am cancelling my sports tier. If the Sabres ever play hockey again, it will be time to go back to DirectTV.
