  1. Asked him if Harvard has any easy classes, he said some...asked him to name a class that was easy, he did "wife helped him" he said...Talked about him playing Lafayette, and Northeastern, and easy schools and what made him think he could be in the NFL. He said "nobody gave him a real big school look" and it wasn't until he was done with college that agents started to tell him he could play. Asked about being 2-0 "renewed optimism, talked about starting 0-8 last year, and said it was great how excited everyone is now. Then he got dropped from the call. Herd said he was a Ram, Bengal, etc...described him as a Kurt Warner story...then asked if a team could build around him. "It's all about winning games, and if I can prove to anyone that I can win games, there's no reason I can't be a long term quarterback" People saw him as a Harvard guy, not an NFL QB, now that's changing. He mentioned about the upcoming Pats game that they have had our number, and it starts with beating the best teams, that they were excited about playing the games. He was asked about Jason Campbell's hail mary and what he was thinking on the sidelines. "There was no way we were gonna lose that game, with all that we had been through" - Herd called him the "ultimate chest bumper" that he "brings a ton of energy to the stadium" and he's going to bet them at 9.5 and may even pick 'em to win the game. Then he digressed and said he'd definitely pick them to win. New England "can't get anybody off the field on 3rd down" Then on to Tennesse and Matt Hasslebeck... Very short interview, didn't miss much, but Fitz is a stud and I'm a huge fan.
  2. Brady in the Boston Globe today "I don't drink" - I don't think he drinks at all.
  3. I think Cleveland sacked him just the one time last year. What Cleveland did very well, was rush for over 180 yards by Hillis alone and leave Brady on the sidelines most of the game. If we make a couple special teams plays, generate a turnover or two, and get some pressure on him - we will be fine. However, the no huddle he runs against teams really does wear a defense down. It's good we have such a young defense!
  4. Hue Jackson was asked in his post-game new conference if his team was over-confident...haha..he said "I don't think there's ever over-confidence in the national football league" I think he's WAY off - their defense started to sleep in the second half after having that big lead This is how the Bay area newspapers spin it: "Whatever the problem is, it is most likely mental. It appears as though the Raiders get overly confident after playing well in the first half and start to get undisciplined in the second half. 5. I thought on a couple of the big gainers - McKelvin was actually draped all over the receiver - on a slightly less perfectly thrown ball he would have come up with the pick. And, he's a good teammate and tackler. I think the guy is a gamer, and everyone here on the board is too hard on him. Now, as far as running that kick out of the end zone against the Pats - that's another story haha...
  6. If you had already used San Diego in a "pick 'em" league last week, what team would you take this week? I am leaning toward going to the Bill at home because of Oakland's Monday nighter and them having to travel here, but they are big and physical and will probably not get in a situation where they have to abandon the run like KC did. Who else do you like this week? Maybe the Steelers bouncing back at home against the Seahawks?
  7. You are correct - that was the Bills 5-1 start in 2008 when a very talented Chargers team came to Buffalo and lost on a great late game play by Kawicka Mitchell I think??
  8. The win over the Chiefs when Thurman Thomas went off for like 180 yards was HUGE - I was living in Missouri at the time and Joe Montana was so over-hyped, the Chiefs were hungry, and our offensive line man-handled them. It was amazing!
  9. Steve Tasker's last game, a game against Green Bay with the BS ejection was a downer as well for me for sure...
  10. Given all of the optimism and promising start to the season (let's hope the bad lows are in our rear view) - what was your lowest moment of your history as a Bills fan? I'm 34 years old, grew up a Bills fan in southern Missouri of all places. I was 12 years old, volunteering at a food pantry during the summers, and I had a Jim Kelly/Thurman Thomas shirt I used to wear to that job all the time. I always talked about Bills news and happening with my boss (the director of the place). He knew I was a fan, and oddly enough, he was a displaced western New Yorker and his younger brother worked as a scout for the Bills. My boss calls his brother, asks him if he can get the Bills to do something nice for me - and I end up getting a huge package in the mail with an autographed picture of Jim Kelly - and a bunch of Bills stuff in 1991. Of course, when I was 13, 14, 15, and 16 years old - the Bills lost superbowls. Every single one of them stung like hell. But...I have to say - in 1997 I went to my first Bills game ever. I had moved to Boston right out of high school - and was at the Bills/Pats game in the fall of 1997. The game was a home game in Foxboro for the Pats, and first place in the division was on the line. Jim Kelly had retired, Thurman was still on the team - and there I was, decked out in Bills gear - and Todd Collins gets injured, the Bills get blown out (with Billy Joe Hobert who later admitted he didn't know the playbook) and it was an ugly year. The end of that game was the lowest point for me as a fan (yes, even lower than the Gregg Willams era) For some reason, being there, seeing it live, getting heckled, etc...sucked worse than the home run throwback in January of 2000. Not to be a Debbie downer, but out of curiosity - what was your lowest point?
  11. I know, I know...ignore the Pats until we dispatch the Raiders, but it's hard for me not to be fired up about the upcoming Pats game, especially living in Boston and listening to all the Brady fans around here talk about how it's their year because nobody from the division will challenge them. I actually have the Ravens and Packers in the superbowl as my early predictions, the Pats defense will be their undoing again. At least we have a respectable unit on the field for once, and I'm so excited about the opportunity to have a changing of the guard in the AFC East.
  12. Pressure on Brady and RUN THE BALL! Last year in the playoff loss for the Pats (losing to the Jets) - Brady was 29-for-45 for 299 yards, two touchdowns and one interception, and was sacked 5 times. Brady did throw a pick, and remember Belly-chick did something crazy where he tried to fake punt and Patrick Chung fumbled. When they lost 28-14 in week 2 against the Jets last season, Jason Taylor sacked him and knocked the ball out of his hands with just over 4 minutes left and Bryan Thomas recovered it for the Jets to put it away. Again, it wasn't bad reads but rather pressure that caused Brady's 2 interceptions in that game - even though they only sacked him once. But...there's another way to beat the Patriots - get stops on third down (even if it comes on drops and sloppy play by the Pats) and RUN THE BALL. When the Browns beat the Pats last year, they threw it 19 times, and ran it 44 times, with Peyton Hillis running for over 180 yards. They were way more physical than the Pats...and I think WE ARE TOO!
  13. I just don't think Spiller's recognition of the kind of run that is required is quite there yet. He sees each handoff as an opportunity to break one, rather than just a chance to move the chains (especially in short yardage)... These plays are designed for a specific hole, it's not zone blocking in short yardage. I'd love to see him cut back when the DT blows up the primary hole, but instead he hesitates and dances. I think Chan will start faking the handoff to him in those spread sets and then dump it to him in the middle before the season is out, he had great hands in college.
  14. I make it there a few times per season, it's been really tough for me to make the 1:00 games in recent years because I've had boys playing Pop Warner football and I've been there instead - but this year my son is an 8th grader and his games at at 9:00 AM all season so I'm free to go where other Bills fans congregated again
  15. That whole era of the early 90's was so special to me. I was the biggest and only Bills fan in Missouri that I knew of anyway
  16. Felt it in Boston, and was on the phone with a coworker who is located in DC and it really shook the building there
  17. He did have to pay 250 dollars to the victim's fund...Poor guy, how will he ever come up with that kind of dough?
  18. EndZoneCrew, I was referring to the power being out on Sunday at the game. We were sitting about 20 rows down from the scoreboard, and it was off much of the game as well as the PA system. The officials were keeping the game clock and time on the field, although a couple of times the play clock was working while the scoreboard was still off. Apparently there were some helium balloons that got caught on some important electrical wires and that caused the whole problem. It was a great day to tailgate - we stayed till about 6:30 PM just playing football in one of the dirt lots...
  19. I can't believe that Defensive End wasn't added as an option. How bout a real pass rush, not with numbers and disguised blitz packages, but with a knock you on your arse stud defensive end.
  20. Beerball, you are the man! haha... I will try to show up early...hopefully there are some hot lil' 20 somthing's hanging out there....
  21. Anybody ever see the games at this bar? It's supposed to be the Boston Bills Backers club. I was thinking of going there as I live in Boston. What is the place like? I just got back from Buffalo, saw the Bills/Chargers game on Sunday. Wacky stuff with the power there! -Thor
  22. No kidding... The Pats look COMPLETELY overmatched and are really being outplayed. As much as I like to see the Pats lose - now is not the time for them to fall apart..
  23. I am currently enrolled as a student in their online Information Technology degree track - and it is a legit University - with numerous campuses. It is a huge school, actually - and the degrees are very desireable from an employer's standpoint. Tons of good football fans enrolled as well - I always ask in the class.
  24. Thsi was the classic game of a team that is not quite ready to get over the hump, evidenced by the the fact that we outyardaged the opponent 475-256, having 26 first downs to the Jets' 15 and haveing over 33mins in time of possession. The turnovers tell the story, and as he gets more starts under his belt the turnovers should be few and far between. A good effort all around, but no pass rush - that really was the difference in this game and the last 2 efforts.
