fine. but the criticism should be above grade school level nonsense screaming he is a turnover machine because they heard it on espn or some dumb twitter guy who watches the all 22. Also view the games and the result in its entirety and do not cherry pick the spots where some peoples mistakes are catastrophic and others equal mistakes are just part of the game or in most cases simply forgotten because they don't do closeups of those guys when they make mistakes. Was allen's int before the half really a poor decision. Yes. did it cost them the game? NOPE. Does it warrant obsessing over and being used to scapegoat all the other problems....NOPE. Did a whole bunch of other people make mistakes in the game, YEP. Were there actual crucial mistakes made that cost them the game YEP.

its not true in any way. This offense will add a second wr next year and maybe a young center but the rest of it will be ready to go. Its a plug and play situation with a new coordinator and potential new scheme. The defense will be in transition because of the 1 year contracts....but even that is not that out of the ordinary in todays league. anyone who thinks the Bills are starting from scratch next year have no idea what they are talking about. also the other thing that no one mentions here about next year is that if this ship stays on the path its on....For the first time in a while it will not play a first place schedule. That is going to be a huge positive for a new staff...or new coordinator. Ironically next year the bills are scheduled to host the winner of the AFC West....its almost a travesty that it might be the chargers and not the chiefs.....the chiefs who they would not play. They could end up going to the 2nd or 3rd place finishers of the AFC North and NFC North. Playing the afc south next year along with the nfc west will be just what the doctor ordered for a turnaround. An away schedule that includes a bad pats team, the rams, colts, texans....possibly cleveland and GB or Minnesota is perfect. Home games vs the jags, niners and again potentially the chargers or raiders is a setup to a winning season. when the misery of this season is turned around...hopefully during the year or mercifully at the end of the year....The positivity towards this team should be off the charts. Possible new staff or just an offensive coordinator....the draft, free agency and favorable schedule will lead to all the positives coming back. A situation where they get a new OC with a proven system, a new #2 wr, maybe a new center and backup rb along with some new defensive players is going to be fun. I do not like it. -

Who was behind the decision to fire Dorsey?
MikePJ76 replied to The Helmet of's topic in The Stadium Wall
Trevon Diggs. He is a new hire in the personnel department. -
The first TO was a fumble by cook that led to a field goal. The Allen INT. in the first quarter led to no points for Denver and would have been a minimum of 3 for Buffalo. yes the interception vs new england led to a pats TD....then buffalo got the ball back and allen threw a TD pass that was negated because of an offensive pass interference call. they kicked a field goal. In the fourth quarter in the 4 minute drill Allen leads a go ahead scoring drive by running it in for a td to give buffalo the lead. The defense then blows the game......now the offensive pass interference call on Murray cost the bills 4 points.....they lost by 4 points, allen hit kincaid on the play for a td. At the most crucial times Allen led the team back to take the lead. You can make the case that the OPI was just as harmful as the int vs new england. No one will though because the narrative is Allen is a turnover machine because they heard it on espn. Turnovers are a part of the game, if you are going to have to pass to survive because you refuse to run the ball then the odds of turnovers happening is going to go up no matter who the qb is. you know what else are a part of the game? Takeaways. Yes the defense has killer injuries but allowing teams to control the clock and push them up and down the field and make big plays when they want is just as bad as any turnover from the offense. The defensive gaffes and penalties late in these games whether its missed tackles, dead ball mental mistakes or The P.I.'s are every bit and maybe more a problem than a few first quarter interceptions.
-
Great. So go ahead and get rid of Josh Allen because of some interceptions and ignore all the other stuff he does, including playing hurt all the time. When this team turns into a ball control running team and limits possessions and plays lights out defense with the intent to win 17-14 like the 90 Giants you can get back to me about ball security. for now, the turnovers are something that is happening amongst a bevy of things that have been out of whack. They are not back breaking mistakes and for the most part, sans the jets game are not late ints to end the game. Even with the interceptions the team has not lost directly because of them. The jets game was lost on a kick return, the pats game because the defense can not get a stop late same with Denver coupled with another special teams mistake. Denver was dropping 7 in coverage monday night on every damn play seemingly begging allen to try to fit balls in. That is a tough ask of any quarterback.....in the end he led a game winning drive inside 4 minutes and ran the damn go ahead score in. The defense let them down again.

My thoughts are this, Josh Allen is the villain and the reason for the losing narrative is making me mental. An interception in the first quarter is no more harmful to the outcome of the game than a Pass Interference penalty on the most crucial play of the game or an inexcusable 12 man penalty on a field goal, Its just easy for the narrative to be fed to the simpletons who watch football that the qb is the problem. Pass goes right through the hands of Gabe Davis and is intercepted in the redzone costing the team a minimum of 3 points and more realistically 7 points......Davis is the culprit yet the tv cameras show close up shots of Josh Allen, then they show his interception numbers and Joe Buck and Troy Aikman say he is the reason for the teams troubles and say he throws the ball too hard. The simpletons at home gobble it up and take the easy road and blame him. in the most crucial moment for the offense in the fourth quarter Allen made a huge pass play and then ultimately ran in the go ahead score. Just like vs NY, Tampa, New England, the playoffs at KC, playoffs vs Miami...etc. John Elway once said "they pay me to win on third downs and score td's in the red zone" Its time this organization lines up behind him and stands with him. When star players brothers are saying he is nothing without his brother.....this is a serious red flag. This type of stuff needs to be stopped. Everyone on the staff and most of the players here are replaceable....think you can't find another stephon diggs? James Cook? Ed oliver? etc.....nonsense.....Josh Allen....you might wait 25 years or more for another one. Allen will outlast the staff, the front office and the roster. The organization needs to end all this talk in the media and the BS narrative about this player. He needs to know he is not going to be leveraged here into new jobs for coaches and as a scapegoat for other players to shed their share of blame. To quote Bill Parcells, "This is a replacement business" another quote from parcells on qb's...."you can't just dial 1-800 quarterback and get another one" Bills fans and the local Bills media need to really take that to heart. What is going on right now with the narrative is insanity to me.

The hot candidates are all going to be defensive coordinators except Ben Johnson. The old school era of head coaches are all retired. There are only a few of the guys left who were coaching in this league when it was different in the late 80s and 90s. Reid, Belichick and Carroll. Having a young energetic staff like the eagles two years ago is really appealing at the same time it is so risky going with the unknown inexperienced who have limited exposure to other coaches and no gameday or season experience of being in charge. I believe above all else if their is a vacancy in Buffalo every available coach will be lined up ten deep to coach Josh Allen and this team with this fanbase. The new stadium coming and a really solid group on offense that can be molded to whatever the new coach wants make Buffalo an incredible position to obtain. The Bills should not wait and miss out. The front office should be quietly finding everything they need to know about each of these candidates so they can make a swift change and get on with the business at hand of the salary cap and the roster while preparing for the draft. I am fan of Brian Flores but he would have to completely redo the defense, the retreads like Jim Schwarz, Dan Quinn etc...are not as appealing to me. You will not get one of the younger OC's. The Ben Johnson thing because of the upbeat environment, the blue collar environment of Dan Campbell who he has been around for all his pro career essentially is really really appealing. He could bring that running game here, with the know how of what it takes to create that mindset while also bringing a new energy. Pairing him with a veteran DC and Veteran ST coach along with maybe an assistant HC who is a Veteran would be a great situation to me. A scenario like Ben Johnson HC_OC_Play caller with Brandon Staley as DC and A vet ST coach could be something interesting. The flip side, someone like Mike Macdonald would bring that young energy to the team and the defense and could be paired with a veteran OC like Pete Carmichael JR. or if Kevin Stefanski becomes available or maybe even Todd Monken if baltimore would allow it...make him OC/Assistant HC. The final option is probably the most realistic, Mcdermott hires a new OC. If the browns go in a new direction...( I don't think they will) Kevin Stefanski makes perfect sense. Great job with Qb's in the past, has coached every position, been a head coach and called plays. Has a scheme. He worked with Leslie Frazier in Minnesota. again, to me Coaches will be lined up ten deep to coach allen and this offense. The Bills have to get it right.

Fire McDermott - 12 On the Field INEXCUSABLE
MikePJ76 replied to WEATHER DOT COM's topic in The Stadium Wall
Tomlin is so overrated. He has basically no post season wins since Bill Cowhers players left. He is always put in that category of great coaches yet never gets any scrutiny for lacking post season success. They have won like 3 playoff games in 10 years and he has had a ton of above average players. -
Dan Orlovsky….. Bills offense is fundamentally broken
MikePJ76 replied to The 9 Isles's topic in The Stadium Wall
Good grief now you are comparing Allen to Winston. That is enough of this place for me until sunday. -
seemed the only road was the division before last nights game and now it seems they would need the dolphins to completely fall apart to catch them. Its still possible of course and I think Buffalo will play well against Dallas, KC and Philly but its a long shot for the division. I honestly think with the quality of play from the offensive line that we are seeing they can attack Dallas and Philly's weakness. Dallas can be beat in the running game and Philly is going to get beat in the second half of the season when teams start throwing more on them. You can throw on the eagles. I guess we have to root for the dolphins to fall apart somehow.

MikePJ76 replied to The 9 Isles's topic in The Stadium Wall
It was the most frustrating thing about the season so far to me. A light should have been going off in the staffs mind last night when seeing Denver line up down after down. It should have been run the ball until they commit to stop it. instead they killed drives trying to throw the ball. -
New coaches come into organizations and improve the results with the current roster and a few changes all the time. Look at how much better the minnesota vikings defense is this year with Brian Flores. Geez, look at Denver yesterday. Sean Payton came in with a plan and a proven track record of how to operate and they look to be getting better. McDermott's time has run its course here. There is no shame in it and they have a good team and a good roster. Coaches will lineup ten deep outside the facility if their is an opportunity to come here and work with Josh Allen, Stephon Diggs a good offensive line and a solid defensive roster. The Bills should have their pick of any coach they want. they have to get it right. Allen and this team deserve a coach on the level of a Belichick, Reid or a Sean Payton. Lions offensive coordinator is going to be the big name this winter. I bet he would give anything to come and get to coach this unit. He would bring the toughness element that is missing also to a good group. A guy like Jones could then go hire a veteran defensive coordinator to be his guy. this has worked in SF, KC, MIA, CINCY, MIN etc.... Or go the other way, Hire a guy like Mike Macdonald in baltimore and then bring in another like minded young OC. This kind of setup would bring a lot of energy to the team. These guys are 37 years old. and there are always the retreads.

The over reaction is calling him this childish simpleton Hollywood garbage. yes he needs to improve as all quarterbacks strive to do but the reality is a better offensive with a better coordinator making the decisions is what is needed. He should have thrown like 10 to 15 passes last night and they should have run it about 45 times. and i love the fact that Allen again is a villain here this morning. He made one bad pass for an INT and missed a wr for a first down. The ball slipping out of his hands on the handoff is just a fluke thing and happens all qb's at times, much like a bad snap, or a lineman stepping on the qbs foot when he is dropping back etc.. I think there are people here who think he is the reason they lost last night or something. meanwhile the defense was given another lead late in the game and came up small yet again. Put the Jets game on Allen. His turnovers in the second half were critical mistakes. he is not doing that week in and week out however. Bottom line, you want less turnovers Run the ball more. Get diggs open in space quicker and play better defense in critical 4th quarter situations. for all the problems and troubles of the team, if the defense gets a stop vs New England and Denver they are 7-3 with a bye in a few weeks to get refreshed and make some changes on offense if they want. Instead critical penalties, missed tackles and dead ball penalties have made them 5-5. When the head coach is a Defensive Coordinator (who has never won a championship by the way with his defense) and most of the resources go to defense, you can not blame the quarterback when said defense can not make the critical game winning plays late. Tom Brady made a career of going down and scoring late to get leads for the first 6 or 7 years of his career before they became a passing team and the defense would play smart and get stops and they would win. this is how the nfl goes. its a 60 minute game, you can not tell me that an interception in the first quarter is more of a critical error than a terrible penalty and a brain dead, dead ball penalty giving the other team another opportunity to kick a game winner in the most critical moment of the game. So keep calling him Hollywood Allen all you want its a reflection on you and not my over reaction to it.
-
ice the kicker is modern reasoning for it after it started 15 year ago or so. It was always in the past though in these situations to make sure you can get out of a 12 man penalty or some other alignment issue. the thing is had they had the Timeout and called it maybe they don't miss the field goal anyway. It doesn't matter at this point I guess.
-
that makes sense. I just personally would not have called the timeout after second down. It probably helped them get setup and run that pressure package that worked though. Probably would have had one if Gabe Davis could catch a perfectly thrown ball.
-
yes but they called two after the first and second down play
-
in regards to the 12 men penalty. Most coaches in this scenario when the broncos were getting the ball back to go score and win would really hold onto that last timeout for this exact situation. You want to have that timeout to prevent this kind of thing. Once Denver lined up there was nothing anybody could do because they would never be able to get off the field in time.
-
i just want to add something here that is not being talked about. there is a lot of this aww shucks the defense is hurt and they try hard stuff. Well, if you really watch the game last night Denver didn't even attempt to challenge the defense. They knew they were outmatched and on the road so they ran it a ton and accepted punting. They also buried themselves with drive killing penalties. In effect the defense had to stop the run. They did a good job of it. Over the next few weeks teams are going to throw it all over when we play KC, Dallas, Chargers and even philly. Last nights game was winnable because of Denver taking that philosophy. The next few weeks will be different. The flip side is we are going to face the same defensive look. The thing with those teams and the jets this week is that they can play the two deep look and even drop 7 guys into coverage and still get pressure unlike Denver. Denver couldn't get pressure really at all last night rushing four and they were totally fine with it. The jets can stop the run with their defensive line its so good...same for KC, Philly and Dallas. Its going to be a long road to the end of the year.
-
For the people who call josh hollywood and say he is hollywood and doesn't work hard. Congrats. You are a simpleton and you are the reason sports broadcasting and journalism is where it is at. You buy into nonsense and then repeat it. The fact that Allen is a villain on this message board is completely absurd.

Dan Orlovsky….. Bills offense is fundamentally broken
MikePJ76 replied to The 9 Isles's topic in The Stadium Wall
The Bills could have run for 350 yards last night. Denver was giving them the numbers in the running game up front every time. Even late in the game they said go ahead. All because they know they would not just run the ball. The bills media and the fanbase want this team to play 10 or 11 personnel all the time. This was elementary football, NFL 101 last night. They were rushing 4 and dropping seven every down. They were begging buffalo to pass and giving them the run and the bills tried to pass over and over. They should have had two backs with over 150 yards, won the T.O.P. and forced Denver to attack the run which would have given diggs and kinkaid one on ones all night. They just wont do it. It seems the head coach had his hands in everything this offseason and I thought they were going to be a smarter team that ran the ball better because of this but instead it seems they are just all over the place. How could mcdermott not demand they run the ball after the looks they were seeing and the early second turnover. Now the season is lost and the Bills will have to play the role of the spoiler and hope guys like Diggs do not create a situation where Allen and the Bills are public enemy number 1, the national media has been preparing for that all year. The week Dallas comes to Buffalo I imagine is the week the crap could hit the fan. Also Trevon Diggs talking about his brother needing to get up out of there like he is something special makes my head explode. I hope the team remembers he said that in a few weeks. McDermott has been outmatched against good coaches this year. They have beat him at the fundamentals and in the critical moments of the games. There is no reason he or any member of the staff should be back. I am not sure that happens though because it appears the General Manager works for him. The bills have a setup like KC, Denver, New England etc....without the proven head coach who deserves all that credibility. and for anyone who says the defense will get worse without him he is a good coordinator....well teams turn it around with good coaching hires every year. Look at Minnesota's defense, Houston's defense. There are plenty of good coordinators around. This team needs to hire a head coach and two real coordinators with real systems in february. I can't believe the season is over before thanksgiving and we have to sit through another year of our lives just hoping they don't screw up coaching hires, the draft and free agency before we get to camp where we have to hope key players do not get injured. It just plain sucks. One more thing, that P.I. at the end of the game is the reason Baseball is the best sport. In Baseball you have to earn every win. In the NFL you can actually make the play up front and make the qb retreat and just throw a lollipop because he knows its one on one and then not make the play only to be rewarded with a first down at the spot which ensured a field goal attempt. It is just an awful penalty and stuff like that happens every week. the league wants these games this way and they will always have them. I cant wait for Yankees spring training. -
Will a win over the Jets to get to 6-5 bring everyone back in?!?!
MikePJ76 replied to DBilz2500's topic in The Stadium Wall
no. the only thing that can save the bills is a dolphin collapse and they are too good on offense and talented on defense to fall apart. its over. I just hope they continue to put effort in. -
andy reid plays guys who punch their pregnant gf's. sean mcdermott is teaching life lessons in critical games.
-
allen threw one bad pass. My god one play. add up all the other guys who made one bad play tonight. I mean through all 0f it if you don't get a 12 man penalty u win.
