  1. I doubt it. I don't think the Chiefs wanting Worthy or the Panthers wanting Legette was a surprise, so if Beane coveted either of those guys he would have taken them. Maybe Pearsall was a surprise but I don't believe they brought him in for a visit
  2. I was generally in favor of a trade back before the draft began, and I liked the first trade to move down and get back in the 3rd round. From there I wish we had stayed put and drafted Legette, but I also feel pretty good about where we're at. I'm glad Beane didn't give away next year's draft to trade up
  3. I find myself largely agreeing with Joe Marino here, Legette at 32 would have been nice but if you told me before the draft we could move down 5 spots and get back in the 3rd round (and upgrade a day 3 pick) I would have taken it. If we wake up tomorrow with DeJean, Franklin and somebody else I'll be thrilled. I can get excited for Mitchell but I don't understand the McConkey love - maybe someone who watches more college football than I do can explain the appeal behind a guy with his mediocre production and good but not elite tools
  4. Agree with this. As we come out of the Hyde/Poyer/White/Diggs/Davis/Morse era, the focus needs to be on maximizing the next 5 year window (where Josh will be 28-32) instead of maximizing just next year. Maybe that involves getting Odunze at all costs, but I'm firmly in the "don't reach/overpay for a WR" camp. Obviously we need WRs, but it's more important to hit on impact players now and in future drafts. Ideal draft for me would be trading back to pick up a 3rd (Rich Hill chart shows the LV's 44 and 77 as roughly equal to 28), getting WRs in the second round and day 3, then still having 2 day 2 picks plus the rest of our draft to shore up the rest of the roster
  5. Not saying it makes him worth his contract but I think Knox's leadership and locker room fit will be crucial this season with so many captains leaving. I could even see Dawson wearing a C next year. Also Joe Marino speculated that one reason Knox reworked his contract was to get less money but more security, partly yeah so he wouldn't get cut but also because he loves Buffalo. If that's the case then I doubt they'd do him dirty like that after he helped the team's cap situation As for his play on the field, well it seems like really leaning into 12 personnel and being creative with getting Knox looks will be important because he'll be one of the 5 or 6 best pass catchers on the team next year. I agree with OP that he's shown great powerful YAC ability so I do like the thought of using him creatively and getting him the ball in space
  6. With the Diggs trade I definitely feel that a window has closed, but another one is opening. It's sad that we'll never have a SB with Hyde, Poyer, White, Diggs, Gabe and Morse - especially Hyde and Poyer, I wanted one for those guys so bad. But with the 2022 draft looking like a really good one, we have another young nucleus to look forward to, with a fully in his prime Josh Allen. Outside of Allen our next window with have a core of Oliver, Bernard, Rousseau, Benford, Kincaid, Shakir, Cook and Brown (with Dawkins and Milano still around), plus whoever we draft this year. Here's hoping that those guys can step up the way we expect them to both on the field and leadership wise, and Beane nails the draft this year. I certainly expect some kind of step back in 2024 (ofc with Josh Allen you're never out of it), but if we can land a few impact players in the draft we're set up really nicely from 2025 on.
  7. I'm firmly in the Packers model camp of adding WR talent through the draft. I would love to draft the best WR at 28 or even trade back into the 2nd, and then pick up another in the 4th to compete with Shorter for the last active roster spot. I wouldn't be opposed to Beane getting aggressive if there's a guy he really likes and he's only giving up one of our first or MIN 2nd next year, but with the roster retool we just went through the focus should be on maximizing Josh's 2nd window which to me means putting rookie-scale WRs around him. I think even without a true #1 next year, between Kincaid/Shakir/Samuel/Cook/rookie WR there is solid enough depth for Josh to work with if he can perform at the level we expect him to. I mean hell Mahomes just won 2 SBs without a top WR. Shakir Samuel 1st or 2nd round WR Hollins 4th round WR Shorter/Isabella
  8. In theory our pass-catchers should be better next year with internal improvement: - Shakir improvement and more involvement - Cook improvement and more involvement - Knox growth - Davis growth and getting his **** together (he was dropping passes he was catching his first 2 years) - Dorsey actually using his pass-catching RBs for checkdowns and YAC I still want a WR in the first 2 rounds. I think the WR depth should be better but we still don't have a good WR2. Diggs is turning 30 and we need to think about talent in the room in a few years. Would like to see something like this next year: - Diggs - Davis/Rookie WR - Rookie WR/Davis - Shakir - McKenzie or Beasley - Kumerow With Knox, Cook and Hines, and hopefully better playcalling, that should be a solid group. But the reality is with Allen and Diggs getting paid as much as they are, we need them to carry the passing offense with a less expensive cast
  9. McKenzie definitely has value to the offense, that said I’d like to see Shakir ramp up as WR3 after the bye
  10. Guessing this means Spector has been doing well in practices
  11. Depth WR for sure, but I like that he profiles more on the outside vs our current 3-5 WR who are best in the slot. Our outside WR depth is really bad if Diggs or Davis misses time
  12. I know McBeane loves their ST specialists…but I’ll be disappointed if we couldn’t have let go at least ONE of Jones/Matakevich/Kumerow to make room for a guy like Hodgins
  13. Howard’s money is a sunk cost. Yeah we shouldn’t have signed him in the first place, but it makes no sense not to go with the better player which seems to be Morris. We’re paying $3M for a TE2 either way, just a different guy
