Tua ruled out vs Buffalo, Skylar Thompson expected to start
stlbills13 replied to Process's topic in The Stadium Wall
Miami will clearly do whatever they can at this point to keep the Bills offense off the field. Lots of runs, screens, jet sweeps, etc. For them, a 6 minute drive that even ended in 0 points is going to be a win on Sunday. They have to hope this is like a 17-10 game in the 4th quarter. If they fall behind by 14+ early, this game could turn into an all-time rout -
Yeah I think the Chargers may have a legit shot in that game. They are a team where you never know what you'll get on any given week and the offense is not as good as it should be when you consider the skill players they have but that defense is nasty with Bosa back
-
We'll see what happens in practice but if Marlowe or whoever is going to play the whole postseason, he needs as many reps as possible. If Hyde is coming in and taking reps, the team clearly feels like he has a chance to play and play a big role. I have no concerns about his ability to jump in and play after so much time off. And just him being out there next week will give Burrow and the Bengals something to think about it at least to start. As far as Crowder goes - man that is going to be a tough role to step in to but you're asking for a lot less out of that WR than you would be asking from Hyde

Obviously my only hope is to win the Super Bowl but this is a fun topic so here are my 10 hopes other than winning the Super Bowl 1. Playoff Josh - which also includes averaging less than 1 turnover per game throughout the playoffs 2. Cook gets 12+ touches per game 3. Deep ball offense is here to stay but we don't get attached to it 4. Rousseau moves himself into the elite competition with a dominant playoff run 5. Highmark Stadium is the hardest/loudest place to play this postseason 6. We stop letting teams march down the field on the opening drive 7. Elam plays more than 60% of the snaps 8. Romo continues to make his love for Josh known to the world 9. Get off the field on 3rd and long 10. Tre White gets a pick six

I'm hoping that Davis is still a little banged up and that Allen's elbow took away some other chances he had this year and that we can extend Gabe on an extremely affordable deal and he blows up next year when everyone is healthy and all of a sudden we have a stud #2 WR on a #3 WR deal. Back as I come back to reality, I just hope he scares the Chiefs and Bengals this postseason and Diggs, Knox, etc dominate underneath

A 30% Micah Hyde might be an upgrade for us. I hope it's about him but these things never seem to be what people think they are and really never seem to be that significant at all. I could see it being something like Hamlin is getting a Pro Bowl invite or the Bills are giving out #3 shirts at the game or something. I would assume the gatorade comment refers to dumping gatorade on the coach at the Super Bowl though so maybe it is big

Do we see an end of QB Mega Deals?
stlbills13 replied to WhitewalkerInPhilly's topic in The Stadium Wall
Like others have said, the only thing that could go away is trading a ton of draft picks and then giving that QB a megadeal The Bengals will be interesting. Burrow and Chase may eat up the most cap space of any QB/WR combo ever. They're going to have some tough decisions to make elsewhere and they'll have to draft well. Which unfortunately I think they will -
The secondary is not playing well. The front 4/front 7 is not generating enough pressure either. I would actually go as far to say that Rousseau is the most important player not named Josh Allen this postseason for us. I think you'll see a lot of 4 man rushes so he's gotta get to the QB. Burrow, Mahomes, Herbert, Chase, Higgins, Kelce, Keenan, Williams. Even if you drop 7 back, those guys are gonna make plays if the QB has time in the pocket. A coach once told me 5 is a magic number for defense. If you get a combined 5+ sacks/turnovers, you have done your job

Davis should see the field because he's a legit run blocker. But the targets may need to start going elsewhere. Maybe he flips the playoff switch again though. I still think he has a big moment in him in the playoffs

If they go with this proposal and KC wins on Saturday, how long do you play the starters on Sunday? Obviously you still want the 2 seed but health is also important with no bye and it's been a weird week. -
Yeah kind of. They still practiced and prepared for a game so they didn't get the typical rest involved with a bye week. I would also say the emotional drain from the game makes it less like a bye week too. But there's no doubt the players came out more physically healthy than other teams (minus Taron and Hamlin of course)

Playoff Solutions Assuming they don’t replay the Bengals game.

With the Hamlin news from today, this team is going to steamroll everyone, everywhere. But yeah it's be amazing if it happened in Orchard Park -

There are no solutions that will be completely fair but that suggestion is horrendous -

The NFL never should have had the Chiefs game on Saturday. It never made sense other than to try to jam a popular player into an otherwise boring time slot. Now depending on what happens with the Bills/Bengals game, it could give the Bills no incentive to play their starters on Sunday which then could give the Patriots a win and a playoff spot all while eliminating the Dolphins, Steelers, and potentially the Jags. I know the Hamlin situation is unexpected and a one-in-10 million scenario but it still never made sense to have KC play on Saturday. -

The Bills don't owe anything to anybody to operate under a normal schedule/situation but I do think the NFL owes it to everyone to communicate a definitive plan well before this weekends games are played. The NFL is king of the Friday afternoon news dump though so I expect it Friday at 4:30 -

The NFL can't wait until to see how the weekend games turn out even if that's what they would rather do. I say don't play the game but I see good and fair arguments on either side. I just think every team in the NFL should know what is at stake when the games start on Saturday. If the NFL says they aren't going to play the game and they're gonna seed based on win %, then if KC wins on Saturday, I am in favor of resting almost everyone Sunday against NE. -

Plus Georgia and TCU do get 9 days off. Not a full bye but it's not played in a normal timeframe either The week off before the Super Bowl is a big deal. But getting rid of it may still be the best solution. I just don't think the NFL will do it. I also am not so sure having the Bills/Bengals play a standalone week 19 game is a good idea for the emotional well-being of the teams. And I definitely don't like the idea of all the other playoff teams getting a bye. -

Yeah I truly believe the best way to seed the teams would be to rank them based on the number of losses each team has. I know that's unfair to Cincy since they could have given the Bills a 4th loss but somebody is going to get screwed here no matter what you do. So if all teams won this weekend, I would group KC and BUF together (3 losses) and BUF gets the 1 seed based on H2H. Then Cincy gets the 3 seed due to 4 losses. BUF or CIN are going to have a legitimate complaint in almost any scenario and that includes making them finish the game.
