  1. You know I'll have some stuff. No big-ticket items as of right now, though - still thinking about that.
  2. Well, if he's going for the "foreign culture" effect again, he could stay right in Miami for that.....
  3. Dolphins | Ahanotu Signed to One-Year Deal - from www.KFFL.com Wed, 1 Sep 2004 10:22:15 -0700 Alex Marvez, of the Sun-Sentinel, reports the Miami Dolphins signed free agent DE Chidi Ahanotu (49ers) to a one-year contract. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
  4. Danny's? Where's that? I'll be there at some point.....
  5. Shaw/Reed 2003 stats: 114 catches, 1320 yards, 6 TD. Dunno, I thought he was being serious.... could be wrong, though.... estro and Tiger, you hit on something that hasn't gotten nearly enough airtime among all the "OL/backup QB/start-me-or-trade-me RBs" hysteria: in three out of three preseason games - and let's throw the scrimmage in there too, for good measure - the starting D has been allowing huge runs off cutback moves. Browns: Suggs 50-yarder Broncos: several good runs by Griffin, averaged almost 5ypc. Titans: ditto for Brown. No, worse - averaged over 6ypc. Colts: the Dominick Rhodes Show. Not as good an average as the other two, but still had a few 10+ yard runs. Not liking that trend. No, not one bit.
  6. Not quite, but he did catch 94 back in 2000, including 63 in the 11 games Rob started. As for Price - he wanted to be a #1 receiver. That's his prerogative. But with Moulds already here, it wasn't going to happen for him in Buffalo. He knew that, and knew Atlanta - already where he made his offseason home - needed a #1 WR. Read any of his quotes from that offseason, and you can tell he was already packing his bags.... just like Antoine Winfield this last offseason. Would it have been nice to keep him here? Yeah, but it wasn't going to happen. Just my opinion.....
  7. Wrong again. The alleged 2004 Bills offense includes three starters who WEREN'T EVEN ON THE TEAM LAST YEAR. (Four, if Evans beats out Reed.) I repeat: "Same ol same ol ?!? " Am I saying this is one of the greatest o-lines of the modern era? uhhh.... not exactly. -Will Jennings play 16 games this season? Not holding my breath on that one, since it hasn't happened yet in his career. -Is MW finally ready to live up to his potential? Your guess is as good as mine. -Lawrence Smith definitely seems to be an upgrade over Mike Pucillo... but that's not saying a whole lot. Is that good enough? Dunno; tune in September 12th and start finding out. What I AM saying is that pre-judging a team's entire season from 11 plays in ONE preseason game is perhaps jumping the gun a bit, "darling". If you've got a problem with that opinion, too f%#!ing bad.
  8. Didn't see the game, but it was played in Montreal, correct? Guessing that wasn't "Ole" you heard, but "Allez". (French for "Go". Never could figure out why they do the "Go Habs Go" chant in English.) Saw the highlights on Sportscenter. Glad to find out Canada wore those jerseys to honor a specific team - didn't think they'd design something that hideous without some good reason....
  9. Well then, if you mean the entire "starting unit", then they have played a grand total of 11 plays together - the first two drives of the Titans game. Think that's a valid statistical sample to extrapolate an entire 16-game season from? I don't. Spin that.
  10. Denver: Pucillo at LG, M. Price at RT. Tennessee: current starting 5. Indy: Sullivan at LT. So, since the alleged "starting unit" has actually only started one of the three games, let's look at their playing time in that Tennessee game a little closer (although even that is skewed somewhat, since L. Smith and Tucker split time at LG)..... Drive 1: Henry 2yds, Henry 4yds, DB-to-EM 7yds, Henry 22yds, DB-EM 35yds. 1st-and-10 at TEN 18, DB-EM 7yds, stupid PF on Shelton makes it 2nd-and-18. DB-JR 11yds, 3rd and 7 at the 15. Henry fumble on fake reverse (recovered by MW), FG. Drive 2: 3-and-out. MW whiff on 1st down, TH -5yds; screen to Evans, no gain (missed block by Campbell on the outside); screen to Henry, 3yds. Drive 3: Tucker in at LG. Henry 4yds; TEN penalty, Henry no gain; DB incomplete. TEN offsides=1st down. Incomplete (another MW whiff, the play TH got hurt on), McGahee 11yds, 1st-and-goal at the 6. WM no gain, DB to Campbell 4 yds, 3rd-and-goal at the 2. Bledsoe trip/grounding (threw ball away after 5 seconds on game clock), FG. Drive 4: 1st-and-goal at the 5 after McGee return. Brown in at QB, 2nd-string WR/TE, but the first-team line is still in there, as is the TEN first-string D. WM 2yds, WM 3yds-TD. Four first-half drives. Three scores - 2 FG, 1 TD (albeit on a very short field). Two bad plays by MW, in his first action of the preseason. Two badly-executed - and somewhat questionable - playcalls on 3rd downs inside the TEN 20 (fake reverse, play-action on 3rd-and-goal from the 2). Stats from those drives: Henry: 7-27 yds, 3.9 ypc, 0 TD McGahee 4-16 yds, 4.0 ypc, 1 TD Bledsoe 7-10, 67 yds, 0 TD, 0 INT, 0 sacks. That's one TD, 13 points total, in one half of a preseason game. ....and that makes one more offensive TD than in 7 GAMES last year; the 13 points ties or beats *8* games. And the 0 sacks on Bledsoe only happened once last season, vs. Jacksonville. Same ol same ol?
  11. Gotta get off that 14.4k dial-up, gflande. Yesterday was slow. Today, by comparison, is Mach 2.
  12. Well, they tried that Saturday night, anyway. We saw what happened. Could Dorenbos get cut? It's always a possibility, but I'm guessing they'd do it only if they absolutely couldn't live without that roster spot....
  13. Take three "keepers" from the following list: QB: Steve McNair RB: Priest Holmes, Fred Taylor, Kevan Barlow, Quentin Griffin, Willis McGahee WR: Darrell Jackson, Eric Moulds Combo yardage/TD league, no separate TE category (they count as WRs), can play either 3RB/3WR or 2/4. Last year's keepers were PH, FT, and Moulds. Holmes is obvious. Taylor is most likely #2. Keep in mind, I'm either drafting 11th or 12th in a 12-team league (tied for points title last season, haven't done the coin flip yet. And that means 11/12 in EVERY round, not at the top of round 2/4/6/etc....) I might try to move Barlow or Griffin to get a higher pick, but our league doesn't do a lot of trading. Conflicted as to whether to protect 3 RB and draft the best QB or WR in round 1, or maybe keep McNair. (If you believe the various "cheat sheets", my top 3 RBs are also the three highest-ranked players...) Thoughts?
  14. You really think they'll keep Johnny - Freddy - whoever? ecch. This is one time I really, really, REALLY hope youre wrong, BADOL.
  15. Paul Spicer, Lionel Barnes, Bobby McCray, Brandon Green, and Courtland Bullard (a college LB listed at DE on Ourlads' depth chart). Their 3rd-round pick, Jorge Cordova, is gone for the year with a knee injury. I repeat what I said earlier today: looking at that underwhelming list, the Jagwires must really figure Douglas is done to have cut him loose.... (As for the Iggles: watch Thomas Tapeh. He's listed as a FB, but I remember him being the "feature back" at Minnesota. Tough runner who could end up being better than Buckhalter, IMO....)
  16. Actually, they have Garrison Hearst backing up Griffin, and also drafted a kid (Tatum Bell) who could turn out to be pretty good. Besides, it's Denver. They'll find somebody to run for 1000 yards; they always do.....
  17. Nice take... even for a Pats fan.... I'm looking at what the Jags have left on the roster at DE. Not impressed. So if they think they can't get anything more out of Douglas (or Brackens, for that matter), why would any other team be able to?
  18. "Alumni Day" is scheduled for the home opener, and every living member of the '64 championship team has been invited back for an on-field ceremony. (Yup, even Lou Saban and Cookie, although don't be surprised if they're both no-shows...) Sounds like most of them have already confirmed they'll be attending. So sayeth Denny Lynch at the June Bills Booster Club meeting.
  19. I think Rockpile just did. Seriously, though, I hope we can do without any ambulance calls to Hammer's lot this year. (And I'm guessing Campy would really, REALLY agree with that.)
  20. He's from either Buffalo or the Falls, I forget which. And yeah, there are some likely suspects here. Wish I'd saved the videotape of that show - that was friggin' hysterical....
  21. Happened to catch one of the Simoncasts, middle of last week. (Before the twenty-minute "ENOUGH ALREADY!" rant to open last Friday's show.) One of his frequent callers, "Butch", was about five minutes into another why-we-have-to-trade-TH soliloquoy. I guess Howard had finally had enough, because he picked a media guide up off the desk and started smacking himself in the head with it, while Butch continued unabated.... Wonder if that actually helped. I might have to try it sometime. But after hearing some of the brilliant JP-Troy Vincent thoughts of the last few days (one guy actually called in to suggest we trade Vincent to San Diego for Doug Flutie), I might be more inclined to use a hardcover book instead.
  22. Bump this up.... ...and I agree. Far as I know, if they put him on IR, he can't practice with the team at ALL this season. Yeah, that extra roster spot would be nice to have available, but looking at the long-term view, I'd rather have my QB-of-the-future be able to start getting reps ASAP than worry about keeping a bottom-of-the-roster guy around.
  23. Nope, Pepe's definitely Argentinian. When Patricio Prato (another Argentine, now playing in Italy) was here at SBU, he talked about having known Sanchez back home.... Times Herald did a write-up on the two of them before one of the SBU-Temple games...
