Trading down in the draft?
dollars 2 donuts replied to The Now Moment's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I've responded previously in this thread, but not necessarily to the OT. That said, in my opinion and respectfully, enough is enough. The start must be with a new QB and you must do whatever it possibly takes to get the best QB that you think is the long term future of this team. Doesn't mean that QB will be the long term future, but that is what you must have to start with after most 18 years of futility at the position. They had hopes for EJ, but I believe those were simply hopes, even if you ask them about it. They just needed somebody at that point. Our last winning season Kyle Orton's stats projected over 16 games (and I am not saying he was great by any stretch) would have been 4,000 yards passing, 24 TDs and 14 picks. Man, we need at least that production regardless of any back and forth we do on these boards. I always liked Tyrod. However, I need 3,500 yards and 24 or so TDs from him and if the ONLY WAY I get that from him is having the best options at receiver/TE and one of the best OLines in football, then I just don't think he's that guy. We need a change and it should probably come from the best possible option in the draft. -
Trading down in the draft?

I'm sorry, I mis-typed and I will correct. I meant to say I am really not interested in Jackson. -
Trading down in the draft?

I'll tell you though, BFM, I have this feeling that we may even be looking at the 5th or 6th QB if we don't move. I used to like him a lot, but right now I am really not interested in taking Jackson. ...as I've stated before I would have loved Watson last year, even reaching at 10...which obviously now would have been fortuitous. -

IF we do what you suggest, BFM, some early mock draft (a couple of weeks ago, can't remember which) had us taking that DLineman from Ohio State, I believe at 18. Again, I stress if we don't move up, I would be fine with a QB (pick 12-15?) /DL first round. Still, my druthers would still be to end up with one of those picks in the top 10. I know some here (including me) have talked about tank mode in the first round, but I have no problems with KC finishing 6-10! -
Why don't the bills get more Monday night games?
dollars 2 donuts replied to Steptide's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Since every team now gets a Thursday night game it became an easy-excuse dumping ground for the League to put a team there that doesn't play well in the evenings and isn't that interesting to watch...box checked. "Go away, Buffalo and your fans." NFL: "...wait, wait, wait. We apologize. Here's a London game for you, too. Hey, howzabout you play half your games in Toronto?!" -
It it is not enough. We need to lose out and trade up with the team's first mentioned above. If we get to 9 there is not going to be a qb left to do the things you want him to do. For the love of all get out Cleveland, Giants, Denver all taking qbs and all ahead of us right now. they have to hit the top three, and even that may not be enough.
-
Please, Vince, you are making me sick. I wanted him at 10, regardless of him still being around if you moved down.
-
He'd have to want to play for us considering there will be other offers, and he better be the real deal especially for this team, because 5-6 years, 125-150 million, with about 75 million guaranteed is tough to walk away from than 5 years and maybe 25 million that a top three rookie qb might cost us.

I am so into tank mode right now, after today's game. I'm closing in on 50 years old, been to more than 200 games in my life, including wide right and th comeback and I am ready for this. Would love both picks in the top 15, preferably 1 in the top 10 and I would be romancing the 49ers (if they hold at 3) like they are the girl I couldn't live without. "You want 10, 15 and 42? Let's talk, baby."

72 Hours of Buffalo Sports Hell Coming Up
dollars 2 donuts replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Is there any chance Satan and the Patriots decided to break-up in the last few days and now Satan has a bone to pick? -
Man, Cuddy, I am being master of the obvious, but did you see Ducasse just get blown-by on that play on Sunday? How are they not working on quicker feet with him 24/7? I know, I know, "he was double teaming with the tackle...yeah, not good enough.
-
Respectfully, and please know I love the Bills, I think it is more likely that both KC and Buffalo are 8-8 by the end of the season, putting us right in there from 14-16th for both picks, I believe based upon last year's finishing records. EDIT: Man, we should already be playing nice with the likes of San Fran and Chicago...those are the potential trade partners if we want to be high up. ...if we want to be high up.

How do we pull the impossible and beat the Pats?
dollars 2 donuts replied to Steptide's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Guys, you know the only thing that is going to bug me on Sunday? Is if it is 24-0 in the third quarter and they are just doing the same old-same old. If you got to 24-0 because you were taking chances and it didn't work, fine. You tried something knowing what you were going against and what you had and it didn't work. I am OK with that. As well if you were down 10-0 doing what you're used to doing...keep going, at least something may come of it and you are in your wheel house. Having the gun fire at the end of the fourth as I first laid it out with the halftime score, and a final tally that ends up being 37-14 becuase you didn't try anything...honestly, that will just p*** me off. -

B Dubs, I'm with you buddy. I know how important this one is. It is weird, though, because I can't get stressed out over it...man...it's the Pats. What do you do? -

B Dubs, I agree with killing the clock as much as you can, but I honestly think you can and should do that through the air, too. Heavy doses (maybe) of Clay, O'Leary, Shady and Matthews and don't give their Defense that comfortable feeling of just being able to Tee-off on the run or on Tyrod. -

My one thing with the above is that man isn't necessarily in the wheel house of our DBs, is it? -

plenzmd1, honestly, I hear you and that was part of my point. I just can't make a big counter argument to what you suggested above. Now, if this were the Ravens we were playing, maybe things are different and my strategy would change. However, it is the Pats and I think both strategies have merit and whatever the coaches end up doing with the game plan, I can't envision complaining about it afterwards...I mean jeepers it's the Pats and Brady. Therein lies the beauty and ease in going into a game against a guy you are 2-26 against. Where we are on the exact same page? Praying for miracles. -

Is this game house money? In other words is it just a no win scenario, so do whatever? If so, then I think that it is actually liberating. I mean you can either do what you have always done and game plan the way you always do (and lose, may be close) or you can go for broke, take chances and gamble on offense (and lose spectacularly). I just really don't think this is one of those games where it will be "would have, could have, should have" afterwards. Me? I think I'd go for it. I think I would try and light it up in the first half. I would have Tyrod moving all over the place. If I am going to take a chance against the Patriots, I am going to do it against their defense and not worry myself on how I beat Brady. -
...or Petterman did.
