It boils down to how much credit you want to give Joe Hines-Brady and how much you want to give Josh. In light of the data, it's unfair to not give Hines-Brady high marks. Even if you want to give more credit to Josh than to Hines-Brady, you have to ask yourself: Why is Josh playing so well, especially compared to how he was playing under Dorsey? Give credit where it's due.

12/29/24 GAMEDAY Week 17 Bills vs Jets Post Game Thread
Sierra Foothills replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
To the bolded, it's been mentioned in passing (pardon the pun) but only incidentally so here goes: Josh has a consecutive games started streak of 110 games... 120 if you count playoffs. Either way this is 12th longest streak in the history of the NFL. Yesterday Josh said the streak is important to him. But then he hopped into the stands, thereby jeopardizing his good health. It was also important that Josh had an excellent game with another unforgettably great play, therefore not conceding the MVP to Lamar... which would have been the case had he not played so well. As we all know, the difference between success and failure is often one-tenth of a second or sometimes even less. That's why a defense can play lights out one week and very poorly the next. The physical fits and timing of the entire unit is critical for success. I thought Rodgers handled the question well. At some point yesterday (and for the first time ever) I almost started feeling sorry for him... but then I remembered that he's made over $380 million from football, not including other income streams related to his celebrity. -
To the bolded... I agree a QB shouldn't show up his WRs by publicly gesturing to them in a corrective way. Actually no player should do that to a teammate. That's what the huddle/sidelines/dressing room/meeting rooms are for. As for your talent assessment of the Jets, not a fan of Quincy Williams?

The QB Class of 2024 is looking awesome but the other story is the QB Class of 2018 which was viewed as potentially the greatest class ever at that time. Lamar and Josh are established superstars and Mayfield and Darnold have resurrected their careers to where they're now considered franchise QBs. I can't imagine what goes through the mind of Josh Rosen these days.

Coleman shows up Allen on first TD target
Sierra Foothills replied to BillnutinHouston's topic in The Stadium Wall
1) I don't care what the "vast majority sees." 2) Me consistently disagreeing with you does not mean I'm making it a big issue. In fact I called it a "violation of etiquette" and an act of "immaturity." That's not making it a big issue. The reason this topic has reached this many pages is because people are arguing against those with different opinions... I'm not going to change my opinion because people want to argue with me. So for the greater good, you can have the last word. I don't care to repeat myself again. -

You'd be mistaken if you thought I cared if I was in the minority of anything. I'm not cowed by the opinions of others. Your first sentence, yes Josh isn't oblivious which is why Coleman's gesture was self-serving. Your second sentence, I didn't say you can't give feedback. I said what Coleman did was unnecessary. We can go back to talking about the quietly improving WR corps or the inability of our defense to stop the run if you'd like. I actually find this to be an interesting conversation. So you're making my case for me. I've said numerously that gesturing on TV in front of everyone is NOT the way you communicate that it was an imperfect throw. They talked about it in the huddle. That's how it should have been handled in the first place. -

You can... if you think it's really important for you to state the obvious in front of the entire stadium and viewership. -
I think the broadcast showed that with a loss, Atlanta has a 15% chance of making the playoffs.

Coleman shows up Allen on first TD target
Sierra Foothills replied to BillnutinHouston's topic in The Stadium Wall
I judge things on a case by case basis. But if I wanted my QB to throw the ball higher, I wouldn't be gesturing to him from a distance. But again, what was there to communicate? Nothing. Josh knew he missed the throw. -
I'm trying to remember if I've ever seen a better game pitting two rookie QBs. What a great showcase for the league.

Coleman shows up Allen on first TD target
Sierra Foothills replied to BillnutinHouston's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'll agree to disagree. Coleman wasn't communicating anything because Josh already knew what had happened. Coleman was essentially saying "it's not my fault I didn't catch the ball." -
As a sports fan there are few things more exciting than having a talented rookie QB showing flashes of greatness.

Even though it was a big loss, Penix did an excellent job of damage control (after letting the snap go over his head). WOW Dude just drips with talent. The potential is on full display.

And Browns fans watching Baker light it up for 359 yards and 5 TDs today. That would be the great clincher for the MVP... Josh setting an NFL team record. Those are called McTOs. That's very disrespectful of Josh towards Keon. -
Six QBs taken in this draft. The only one we haven't seen yet is JJ McCarthy. The other 5 all have shown excellent potential... 2024 could very well go down in history as the best QB draft ever.

You guys are speaking in code... why so circumcised... I mean, circumspect? For the click adverse... McAfee's rant: I’ve said what I believed to be the truth about the team.. & a bunch of “Colts fans” on the internet were trying to get me booed out of the city.. Current players, who have won nothing during their entire tenures, started using me and my face to try and paint me as the enemy in the city I’ve committed my life to. And in the end… everything went.. just like I ***** said it would In the biggest moments everybody with a brain knew they’d crack.. and they did. A blind person could see the red flags on this team.. Work ethic questions, NEVER happens on good teams.. Preparation commitment questions, NEVER happens on good teams.. Late to meetings, NEVER happens on good teams.. Late to/skipping treatment, NEVER happens on good teams.. The franchise QB tapped out of a game.. on 3rd down.. in the red zone.. because he was tired… NEVER HAPPENED in the history of the NFL. That’s literally the only thing you need to tell someone (who knows ball) and they could tell you everything about this team… “Hey the franchise quarterback, who’s a professional athlete getting paid millions of dollars, and the face of a multi billion dollar franchise tapped out of the game because… because… because he was tired in the middle of the season” “Oh wow.. that team has no chance” would be the immediate response.. And to the surprise of nobody.. that was the response by everybody who’s ever played/coached the game before but.. Colts blogs and fans who have been covering the Colts since 2020 and more recent knew better than everybody… Started personally attacking me and trying to kick me out of town. When I said Joe Flacco gives us a better chance to win than AR immediately after the tap out.. I would’ve said whatever backup QB we had on the roster. That can’t be what the face of your team is doing.. just can’t be.. and to a bigger aspect of it all, somehow AR thought it was ok to do that. That’s a locker room issue.. that’s a culture issue.. thats an indicator of a loser attitude radiating thru a building that was built by greats. I have no idea how they fix it.. I don’t think it’s like a light switch. “Alright, we’re gonna become Pros now” but… maybe it is, but what do I know? Oh wait….. how this was all gonna work out. I knew that. As a multiple year season ticket holder (not renewing).. and someone who has actively, daily, attempted to be an additive to this beautiful city. I hope they become a good franchise again.. this city deserves it.. the OGs in the Colts building deserve it (equipment managers, trainers, ticketing, PR, sales).. and on the flip side the players/coaches in that building deserve whatever happens to them. Your unwarranted arrogance, laziness, and lack of professionalism has lead you to ANOTHER early vacation… which is probably what most of you entitled bums have been hoping for. I don’t speak for the city.. and I don’t speak for all ex Colts players because I was only a punter.. nominated for the HOF 3 times now but nonetheless.. I speak from my own perspective.. I’ve never seen a group waste opportunities/talent/money more than this group.

I'm enjoying this game. Pretty good watch.

Coleman shows up Allen on first TD target
Sierra Foothills replied to BillnutinHouston's topic in The Stadium Wall
Which strengthens the argument that Coleman's gesture was totally unnecessary. Even people who've never watched a football game can figure out that the ball should have been placed higher. Thank you. I have gone to great lengths to defend the selection of Coleman. That doesn't change the fact that he has dropped a disconcerting number of catchable balls... or that the gesture under discussion was immature. -
Coleman shows up Allen on first TD target
Sierra Foothills replied to BillnutinHouston's topic in The Stadium Wall
It was a horrible throw? Josh threw 27 passes on a very windy and gusty day. The ball missed its ideal placement by 12-18 inches. You know it's funny when I posted this opinion in the live game thread, someone asked me if I ever played sports... It's just as real as the endless topics about our wide receivers and our run defense... except actually a lot more interesting. I guess people here are averse to this kind of discussion. -
Coleman shows up Allen on first TD target
Sierra Foothills replied to BillnutinHouston's topic in The Stadium Wall
Agree. I mentioned this in the live game thread and a a few people took issue with my judgement that Coleman's action was immature and unnecessary. The idea that an act can be judged by someone's reaction to it and not on the merits of the act itself is interesting. Josh is a great guy and I agree that he was not bothered it. In fact, throwing a TD pass to Coleman later in the game shows that Josh didn't give it a second thought. But that doesn't change my view of the act. It's not a felony but it's a violation of etiquette... a rookie showing up a future first-ballot HOFer on a national broadcast... for zero justifiable reason. Coleman's gesture was compelled by the sort of defense mechanism that a mature person no longer possesses. I also found it disrespectful. And also pointless. Coleman's gesture was basically a "it wasn't my fault I didn't catch the ball" response. Here's a Yes/No question: Do you think that Josh didn't understand that he should have thrown the ball higher? Allen "took his advice?" Josh needed it pointed out to him that the ball placement was too low? This is what I posted in the live game thread: 1) You guys think Josh didn't know the pass needed to be higher? 2) Couldn't Coleman have pointed this out discretely/later instead of in front of the entire world? I don't think you can even argue what the answers to those questions are. -
