I'm all in favor of safety nets in society. But IMO they should a) be reserved for natural born citizens, b) limited in duration and c) just enough to give you the bare necessities to get by. It should be something you want to break free from, not a lifestyle.

Poor families are already heavily subsidized with welfare snap benefits, section 8 housing, etc. If you're suggesting they should be living some posh lifestyle at taxpayer expense until they make it on their own, I will strongly disagree with you. They just become addicted to it and cancel any efforts to break themselves of the culture and cycle of poverty.

What are these mythical barriers? I grew up in poverty but I realized the only barrier to finding success was myself and how hard I wanted to work for it. Trump is a supporter of school choice. So if a kid is growing up in the hood and wants a better education there are options. Literally anyone can get government grants for higher education.

And when a gun isn't available, they can use a knife as seen in the Charlotte Train murder of Iryna Zarutska just a few days ago. When a knife isn't available they can just use a Ford Escape like at the Christmas parade a few years ago. When can we start blaming the people who commit the crimes instead of the tools they used? BTW, I'm all in favor of reopening mental institutions across the country to get some of these people help before they end up committing atrocities.
