Hard to watch this defense.

No it wasn’t. The conversion went to a small gap inbetween Benford and Milano, with Poyer right behind them. Hamlin would not have been there had he not blitzed.

The blitz was definitely not the problem on either 3rd down conversion.

That’s weird. “L-ong” was changed to “king” for me too.

Hate playing Zone in that situation. How many 3rd and kings are we going to give up before McD tells Frazier to play man on 3rd and long?

The o-line is being abused so far.

Going into the Bills/Jets game, Zach Wilson was 9 of 47 (yes, only 19%) with 3 yards per attempt, 1 TD and 5 INT for the season when pressured. You would think that would tell our coaching staff to put pressure on him by any means necessary, including blitzing. Instead, we played our normal defense and Wilson went 12 of 15 for 6.3 yards per attempt, 1 TD and 0 INT with a 115.3 QB rating when the Bills didn’t blitz him. Belichick, likely learning from McDermott/Frazier’s folly, blitzed Zach Wilson like a mad man. He was even sending EIGHT MAN blitzes, leaving only 3 to cover the rest of the field. That’s how important pressure is to attacking Wilson. What happened? Jets scored 3 total points and Wilson went 9 of 22.

I agree. I know a lot of fans think we have a home field advantage with the snow and cold but i’m not so sure. We are the not the 70’s Steelers. We are a passing offense that relies on crisp routes and clean fields.

Did they purposefully make the shirt as bland as possible?

Belichick pretty much always exposes bad QB’s.

McDermott has always been a good leader. There is no denying that. The question is how good of a technical coach he is.

What was his PFF grade?

Watching Dallas embarrass Minnesota on defense is amazing to watch. We made it seem like an impossible feat.

Dodson is not it.

For me, it’s less about how many total points they give up, and more about if they can come through in the clutch. Against the Jets, they only gave up 20 points. But they also allowed a back breaking 14 play drive that went from the 4 yard line, all the way to the opposite 2 yard line. It was a 94 yard, 14 play drive when we needed them most. Against the Vikings, they gave up an 81 yard TD drive, 66 yard TD drive and 15 play scoring drive in OT - all in the clutch moments where we needed a stop most (4th quarter and OT). As I type this, the Vikings and Cowboys are about to go into halftime. The Cowboys have allowed the Vikings 3 points and Jefferson has 18 total yards.

Allen just made a comment in the postgame that kinda referred to this. He said something along the lines of “i’m just trying to get it to the right person”.

Were they hurt during the game? They definitely played. I don’t remember to be honest.

I think we were missing 2 starters on defense. Milano and Poyer. Definitely key players. Patriots were without Barmore, who is a very good player, and still absolutely shut the Jets down.

The defense is average. No doubt about it. In other news, Belichick completely stymied a Jets offense that was moving at will on us at times.

Not to have to kick 6 field goals because they couldn’t get into the endzone.
