It’s actually not. He was a boundary corner last year and only switched to part time slot this year. He plays half the time as a boundary player. This year was the first of his career (college and pro) that he played slot at all.

I don’t know where people get the idea that McDuffie is just a slot CB. He played outside corner in college when he was drafted, then the Chiefs play him as a boundary CB half the time too. They flip/flop him all the time from outside corner to slot and even sometimes to safety.

Chris Jones was the Chiefs MVP last night. Or perhaps McDuffie. It certainly wasn’t Mahomes, but they just always give it to the winning CB.

I remember when KC traded up in front us to get McDuffie and thinking “man I hope he sucks and the better player falls to us”.

100% you kick off. The defense has the commercial timeouts, plus the coin toss procedure to rest up. A few extra minutes after a full gameplay is not going to get you any more rested. you always want to know what you need to get to win the game. Or tie up this honestly felt like a very McDermott-ish game for Shanahan.
