I believe if you read the posts, in general, most state they voted for the party and the policies (both of which I disagree with, but at least we’re discussing politics) and just put up with the mouthpiece. Many said they wish he would shut up or a similar sentiment.

Yep - I agree we’re not that far apart but I do indeed know three trans people closely. One certainly suffers from mental illness; . One is an employee of mine, and another is much closer; I’ll leave it at that, and hope others will spare jokes on me saying they are close. It’s family. As far as discussion in general, I’ve decided that if I’m going to continue to post on this subforum I’m going to use words and tone I would use if I was sitting at a bar next to the person I’m “arguing” with (despite having quit the sauce 4 years ago next month, I do still go to breweries because shockingly enough they are one of the best places - generally - to have lunch with a toddler in tow.) I have two in particular but I’d prefer to hold on them for now. Enjoying this discussion and I think I’ll get roasted and this will turn south quick if I do. Ok. Fine. You all have been open here; I’ll say the lies/horrific overstating about men being in women’s/girls restrooms. Trans people do exist and do need to pee. And the VAST majority are just trying to do that; pee and move on (sentence I didn’t think I’d ever type when joining TBD ). Will the rare big burly creepy man throw on a dress and make his way to into a women’s room to harass or worse? Sure. But it’s certainly the rare exception, not happening daily like some of the Twitter posts pasted here make some believe. And there are horrible people who will do horrible things in every group. Every one. So I think that’s a scare tactic used by the right to hate/dismiss a group of - almost exclusively - folks who just want to live their lives in the way they feel comfortable. Do I think that means I should be forced to sign work emails with “he/him?” No. But I also wouldn’t overreact if my employer did that. Hope this doesn’t derail things. The second I’ll wait on. There’s an entire other thread on it where I got too heated. But did you actually read any of their replies here? I’m guessing not.

One thing that confuses me about the current defense of Trumps tactics are those that state he’s doing exactly what he said he would. Curious as to the thoughts of those that are defending Trump by saying “this is what he promised,” “we knew what we were getting,” etc. How do you respond to this? Understanding many of these videos are often edited heavily this one is truly clips of the man himself and his “promises.” Does this upset you? Do you just consider this another example of him just “being Donald the blowhard?” Do you think folks less knowledgeable and less economically stable than most here thought he would actually do the things he said in this video? Or they “knew” he would do the opposite and for some reason voted for him anyway? (standard disclaimer that I think Biden was top 3-4 worst presidents of all time). Im truly not trolling. I would love to get some conversation going with folks I respect on the other side of the isle like @B-Man and @JDHillFan, (and others). Let’s see if we can be civil. Was this just a case of a politician being a politician and making promises to get votes? My concern is that his promises and his actual actions are polar opposites.
