  1. Every metric shows Moss to be the better blocker. It is not even close. Singletary is a 2nd level guy in every measurable metric. (He is actually 3rd level, but I don't need to pile on) I'm not saying Moss is a #1 RB, but in this offense, and the lack of other RB for balance, he is. Moss is the clear RB #1 based on blocking and 4 YPC alone. He is not optimal. Singletary is a devastating RB#2, nothing else. His hands and build are not RB #1 worthy. Brieda can break one, but not an every down back.
  2. I appreciate your point of view. I disagree. There was room to make other personnel decisions. Moss was not one them. When PIT came back in the 3rd and 4th quarter there were no reinforcements available to block there front 4, other than Spencer Brown. No blocking TE, no blocking RB. TOTAL FAIL
  3. Agree 100%. Idiotic. Moss is the best non OL blocker on the team. May want him available to help chip a DE. Buffalo thinks it is smarter than it is. At some point all football games come down to power. Does Breida, Singletary, or Moss excite?
  4. Per PFF and other stats based sites, Moss was a much better Pass Protector than Singletary. Moss is considered top 10 in Pass protection in every metric driven site. Singletary doesn't even register. I don't hate Singletary, I just see him as a RB #2 on a SB winning team. Moss offers another level of Pass Blocking that the other Buffalo RBs don't. The fact he can get 4 YPC is another feather in the cap. Moss lacks in a lot of situations. I don't think he is a stud, but he is the best RB Buffalo has, for what they want to do.
  5. For what it is worth, multiple statistical sites had Moss as a top 5 pass blocking RB in 2020. Not bad for a rookie in pass protect. Singletary did not make the list anywhere. When the OL fails in blocking 4-5 in pass rush, wouldn't a back with a 90+ pass block ability be handy? Maybe. The fact he also gets 4+ YPC regardless of formation may be a strong sign you should play him. Draw play, trap, screen, what is that? We don't do that in Buffalo. Run the draw play with Moss FFS. Moss should be RB1 in a pass first offense because he can block and run. Singletary is a nasty RB2 if used properly. Breida is a luxury RB. Not the other way around. I protect my $250 million dollar QB with my best pass blocking RB, who is a grinder, but maybe I am dumb. That is Moss. Why is Buffalo calling QB runs without their best non OL blocker??? I don't design multiple runs for my $250 Million dollar man without a blocking TE or RB active on my active roster. No good blocking TE, no good blocking RB, run Josh Allen multiple times. Genius. Maybe I am wrong? I see too much 1990's Houston Run and Shoot here to make real noise.
  6. I still don't understand why they left Moss, our best pass protection RB, inactive against one of the top 5 DLs. Idiotic decision. It is clear to me the idea was to go 4 or 5 wide all game, pressure be d@mned. Having a chess piece like Moss who can help change up blocking assignments if the front 5 is struggling allows flexibility. Buffalo has 0 blocking TE to speak of. Breida has never been a (+) blocker. You give up blocking and catching with him in. This is why he has been cut so many times. He is fast, and will break one occasionally, but signals a rush. Singletary is replacement level at blocking, and does not have natural hands. We all saw it. Moss may not be the runner Singletary is, but he adds a pass protection level the other backs don't, and he can chug out 4 YPC. His hands have been equal to Singletary given the targets they have had. Poor game plan and scheme. Total failure to understand the opponent and what they will do. Buffalo was going to go 4-5 wide all game and announced it by sitting Moss. This decision and the empty sets allowed Pitt to drop 6 and 7 into zone coverage with no fear. If the front 4 can get pressure, and drop the rest, you beat Buffalo. Unfortunately (PIT/KC/TB/WAS etc) can all do it. It is the recipe to beat the Bills. Have a (+) 4 man pass rush and drop 6-7 in coverage. They have to figure out how to beat a (+) 4 man rush. Sitting Moss is idiotic. He can pick up the loose defender and can still get 4 ypc should Buffalo actually run the ball. Buffalo needs to become more proficient in a 3WR/1TE/1RB set or 4WR/ RB set. Moss is the best fit for both because of his blocking and running ability. This game came down to arrogance and an inability to change up blocking schemes because Buffalo's best non OL blocker was inactive.
  7. Play action, screens, draw plays and traps can all be used to do this. I saw maybe two draw plays and they both worked. No screens, very little play action.
  8. Davis has shown the ability to be that guy. The problem is he was only in 36% or so of snaps.
  9. Wanted to make sure Kelvin Benjamin wasn't hogging it all? I keep laughing at how much a lot of TBD is counting on Star to make a lot of other highly drafted defensive players better..... Hoping for good things from Phillips/ Zimmer/Butler....
  10. These folks think Baking Soda (sodium bicarbonate) is needed in bread... I'd trust the French more for a definition.
  11. Keep in mind German beer purity laws (Reinheitsgebot) are pretty strict as to what can be called beer. A lot of stuff people like around the world wouldn't qualify as 'beer'. Pretty certain there are similar 'bread laws'. 😄 That said, with DiBellas around every corner, and a handful of good delis, there is no need for Subway in my region. I have enjoyed Subway in the past when living in areas with fewer options.
  12. He could. 1k is only 58 yards per game or the equivalent of 10-14 carries over 17 games. I have reviewed a bunch of games and both he and Moss had a lot of chunk plays where things looked really good, but they were peppered between a lot of 0-2 yd gains. Some of that is blocking. I do think people underestimate the importance of a blocking RB in a pass first offense. Zack Moss showed out as the far better blocker. I think this is a big reason why he gained a 50-50 share with Singletary by season end. Neither is exceptional as a receiver. I can see 15 or so carries per game for the RBs, but not much more. Enough to take advantage of a defensive front, or to switch things up and threaten balance. If Singletary gets 10 or so a game he has a shot.
  13. No I saw a few hundred tickets available from the Bills Website. Cheapest tickets are $108 or so. A few thousand available for resale. No Canadian travel to the US is going to hurt attendance.
  14. Agree. 'Greg the leg' left 4 easy points out there (not talking the 60 yarder). Sure that changes how the rest of the game is played, but it mattered.
  15. largely agree with you. The contracts on Butler/Addison probably stopped any trade from happening. Addison did lead the team in sacks last year, but now he does not have to be the #2 guy in the rotation. Cap hits and lack of partners made this a reality. The FA DL signings have not been good to date. The drafted young guys need to step up, and the succession plan is in place now at DE. That is good work. Epenessa/ Rosseau and Boggie is a nice place to start the DE rebuild. Hughes may come back next year on a team friendly/ pass rush specialist role for a push, but not have to be counted on if they develop. As for offense. Buffalo is a passing team now. 4 and 5 wide sets are not uncommon. This is proven by the shortage of TE on the roster. Vax or not, 3 or 4 WR were dinged up in the AFC Championship game last year, I think that has haunted the team since. Good to have depth in the system, mix in young blood and guys with different capabilities on the roster. On a passing first team if TE is weak, WR better be strong. I think it is now. Kumerow adds WR size in red zone situations, like you would want from a TE. Stevenson adds speed lower on the depth chart and ST ability. It's a different way of thinking for long time Bills fans, but in a passing league, QB (locked up), WR (7) and DE (6) are among the most important positions. Buffalo did a nice job there.
  16. DE is also probable as an improvement with Rosseau, Boogie and Obada. This was the biggest hole on the team last year. Younger and cheaper for going forward. RB is also better with Breida added. I am convinced Breida suits up for more games than not, and Daboll will find a way to get him the ball. As a pro-Hollister guy I will chip in my thoughts. He has been a productive backup TE in the league. (Seattle) He has remained healthy in the NFL, Sweeney has not. He makes the catches he should. (knock on Knox) On this team he is at worst a 3TE and probably the 2nd best. What other available TE matches the criteria above? That said, I really hope Buffalo looks to TE seriously in next year's draft or FA class. It helps a QB so much. (See Brady and Mahomes)
  17. I like both of these. Mike Love has shown some ability when given playing time, which has admittedly been sparse. Jamil Douglas is solid OG depth. I believe he started 5 games for Tennessee last year, no considerable drop off as Henry rumbled for 2000+ yards.
  18. Same. He has a nose for the ball. Might end up being a Robey-Coleman/ D Greer type player. Not a level one starter, but really good in a 5 man CB rotation. I really wish him the best. 5th year, accrued 4 if OTC is to be believed. Other than the Jets what better place to be on the PS? As a vetted veteran he gets more than minimum on PS, and is really next man up if he choses Buffalo.
  19. I think given the reduced cap and some salary cap ramifications and bad contracts (Butler and Addison) they did a masterful job returning most starters. The fact we kept Williams/ Milano and extended JA was really good work. The draft was focused on the pass rush and some OL. They are all on the team and will have to contribute. I see some very good DB depth (both CB and S) out there. After the release/ IR stuff is done, if Hollister is not brought back that creates a position to be filled by maybe a vet looking for a last run. I provided a 'who is available at DB' post in the league wide cut thread. Some good names out there. Clinton-Dix/ Trufant etc.
  20. Largely agree. I would not be surprised to see 2 DE not dress and roll with a 4 man rotation. Most likely Boogie and Obada not dressed but on the 53. Injuries or lack of production from others could change that. Same with Doyle, safely on the 53, but not dressed as he develops. Disagree with Kumerow. He offers ST ability and Buffalo likes 4-5 WR sets. We have a passing team and that means having 5-7 WRs dress. He is also one of our larger targets. IMO Breida will dress as long as McKenzie and or Stevenson are dinged up. He is the next best 'gadget guy' and also offers speed and RB ability. he looked really fast the third game, and I think Daboll is figuring out how to use him. Stevenson I think dresses as KR/PR when healthy. I see 1 or 2 OL not dressed, and or 1 or 2 LB not dressed to make up the difference.
  21. If not Breida fills McKenzie's role and is active on game day, but who is KR/PR? Not good with the thought of a starting S (Hyde) doing that duty.
