  1. Eric Adams surrenders to the border crisis and gives up on New York's 'sanctuary city' title NYC, so brave when the border crisis doesn't impact them.
  2. I think the topic question, "Is healthcare better, worse, or the same?" depends on your economic and personal circumstance. My family has a good plan which has comprehensive coverage but is costly. Some might argue we pay too much but weighing the importance of healthcare, our income and other expenses I feel it is acceptable. I feel the personal circumstance is on individuals to be an advocate for themselves/families when navigating insurance and the healthcare system. Insurance companies are businesses, and their goal is to reduce costs. Just like you wouldn't pay MSRP for a vehicle you should be prepared to fight to get the healthcare you deserve. If you are not satisfied with a doctor or diagnosis you need to be able to stand up for yourself. I live in NH but see a specialist who practices in MA and is a clinical instructor at Harvard Medical School. Our insurance didn't want to provide that referral, but I was a PITA and made it happen. To answer the question, I think medical technology has improved, individuals with money and willpower can receive better care than any time in history. For the majority of the middle class, I feel it has gotten worse. I don't have experience here, but I believe things may have improved for lower wage earners/ACA recipients.
  3. I can appreciate that you are close to a line. If you are in the medial field, you ARE NOT allowed to ask the question!
  4. The fact that those with family members here that have been diagnosed with dementia but don't mention of the type of dementia is telling. In your previous post you indicated that board member should have mentioned the type of dementia. Now you are saying you don't want the personal details. Which is it? Since you work in the medical field, could you elaborate on the ethical or legal rules pertaining to asking about diagnosis on a message board?
  5. That you feel you need to know the personal medical history of posters, or their families is more than telling. Why do you feel personal medical prognosis should be communicated to you? If you are in the medical field and are asking these questions, do you feel it is appropriate?
  6. He either wins or loses. Anyone thinking he's going to prison for a civil suit is an idiot.
  7. I'll be honest in that I'm not in tune with Chicago politics. Would have though Lightfoot would have at least made it to a runoff even with her poor record.
  8. Interesting article..... Seeing Gold in Spinning Turbines: Why Texas Is Winning U.S. Renewable Race "Texas and other majority Republican states are leading the U.S. in both wind and solar power, despite polls showing Republican voters rank tackling climate change as a far lower priority than Democrats do."
  9. Public Schools CEO Paul Vallas and Cook County Commissioner Brandon Johnson will face each other in a runoff election for mayor.
  10. In 4 years, Lori Lightfoot went from breakout political star to divisive mayor of a Chicago beset by pandemic and crime "Lightfoot was dealt a political embarrassment unlike any suffered by a sitting mayor seeking reelection since Jane Byrne — the first and only other female mayor of Chicago — lost the 1983 Democratic primary to Harold Washington." This is what happens when you vote and promote for race/gender/sexual orientation rather than ability. Lori Lightweight, Karine Jean Lollipop, not great looks for the Democrats.
  11. Snowing in NH right now, it's all white. Damn that Nazi snow!
  12. I see what you're trying to say but don't see it happening without a specific plan in place. There is no guarantee that any of the immigrants will work in a field related to housing. You would hope that more immigrants=more workers=build more housing=fixes housing shortages but there is no guarantee of that. Perhaps if the government offered an incentive to fast track legal immigrants based on their occupation/training I could see that working but otherwise I don't see the homeless problem getting better.
  13. I love how these "poor" posters think they're somehow entitled to money earned by rich people. Do you folks have a job or do you just like to complain that you aren't capable of earning more money? I'm rich, let me know what you need and my friend in Sudan can wire the money to you!
  14. So just to clarify, more legal immigrants will allow the US to increase the housing supply and thereby eliminate homelessness? Do we have any data on how many of these people are licensed electricians, plumbers, etc. or are they just going to "start building houses"? Any thoughts on where they will live while they are busy building all these dwellings, there are currently over half a million homeless people in the US.
  15. I'm happy they are expanding legal immigration. I would like to see the plan on how these people will be integrated. I am especially interested where they will be housed given the housing shortage and national increases in homelessness.
  16. My wife and I were lucky enough to have been vaccinated and boosted with the J&J/Janssen before it was pulled due to blood clot risk. Was that vaccine a win or just an oops?
  17. So, if the balloon were to fall from the sky and cause damage or kill Americans what would happen? Is China going to take responsibility or will the Biden administration apologize for Americans being in the way when it crashed? I guess "open borders" apply to pretty much everything now!
  18. I think every American, Democrats and Republicans are rooting for the Ukrainians. As Ron indicated in the previous post, we shouldn't underestimate the brutality of Russian leaders and how many troops they're willing to sacrifice. The official Russian estimate for soldiers killed in WW2 is 8.7 million but some estimates are as high as 14 million. Add civilian deaths and you're talking anywhere from 20-30 million Russians killed. As tragic as this conflict has been, 100K deaths of Russian soldiers is a rounding error compared to the second world war. If the Russian leadership truly believes this conflict is existential to the survival of their country, I fear this war could last for a very, very long time. A very informative but somber video regarding the number of military and civilian deaths in WW2. The Fallen
  19. No, just a lying hack fooling fools with snake oil. For someone so esteemed in science he must have an advanced science degree, worked for years in industry, perhaps with a patent or publications? No, John Kerry is a leading climatologist because he studied political science at Yale! Ha ha ha ha!
  20. It's like Billy Graham asking for donations! "Just send me a small offering so I can defeat the devil of climate change and bring righteousness back to the environment." What a clown!
  21. The next step will be fireplaces and furnaces. Then we get to trust our lives to an electric power grid that everyone agrees is outdated and unreliable. If they were concerned about air quality, they could have passed a law that require hoods that vent to the outside for new gas stoves. Even electric stoves should have hoods, but of course they aren't really concerned about air quality.
  22. Roughly 60% of American households are paying no federal income tax. I don't see how this is healthy for the country when the majority of Americans are unaffected by tax policy.
  23. It must lodge their panties way up their crack when they have to climb into their climate saving Tesla every day. To think the man that destroyed their liberal Twitter echo chamber is getting rich off them.
