But is he worth it? Will the Bills be better off using that money on other areas of the team. Even if the Bills and Cook come to an agreement at, say, $12m, that $3m could help get someone else over the line.
The way so much the NFL seems to be "massaged" I wouldn't be completely surprised if the MVP vote was steered based on the outcome of the Ravens-Bills play off game. "If the Ravens win give my five points to Lamar, if the Bills win then give them to Josh." The wait is ludicrous. There doesn't seem to be a reason why the MVP can't be revealed before the wildcard round.
I think the argument that Lamar put his team in a hole in a valid one. It's a credit that he regrouped and brought in back but he choked in the first half more than any other QB into he play offs this year other than Jared Goff. And it cost the Ravens.
The Chiefs and Ravens are the strongest defenses in the NFL, with great DCs. I think any QB would find it tough to walk the field against the clock. As for the Bills... we've seen historically it's not so difficult.
Because you have mentioned more than once the failure to score on the final drive last week, and Josh needing to take responsibility for it.
I get it. I also think he would manage it if he was facing the Bills defense rather than the Chiefs'.
