  1. Here is a newsflash - all teams are out to make money. They are business enterprises afterall. Some teams have much more money to spend and still be profitable. Jacksonville is at the bottom of the barrel revenue wise, a failing franchise. The bills have avoided the bottom due in part to the Toronto deal and in part because there are real fans (unlike Jacksonville)who continue to support the team by coming to games. So even though Buffalo has cheap ticket prices, no personal seat licenses, and a dearth of corporate sponsorship dollars, they are able to stay in business. The Jags cannot afford an $8 million QB who deoes not figure in their long term plans. No surpise there.
  2. If they address OL depth in the next week or so, Moats may be the first cut. Like you said, he is third string inside or outside right now. They are not through tinkering with the lineup yet.
  3. I do not understand the man love for this guy around here. He is a fringe player at best, evidenced by his bouncing around the league. He will likely be cut by New Orleans as well when their real RB gets healthy. Better than Spiller? Better than White? You people need some perspective.
  4. I watched the game his morning and do not see what the OP was talking about. I thought Troup looked pretty good myself, much better than last year. I think he is coming along nicely.
  5. Very well said. +1 I think the point on this was career punt return average. He did not happen to break one for the first 8 games he played last year before getting hurt. One long return changes this completely.
  6. I like straight up.
  7. We will probably never know what happened between Polian and Wilson that led to his departure. Maybe Polian will write a memoir some day but until then it is conjecture. One thing people tend to forget is that Polian was operating in Pre-salary cap days, and the Bills were big spenders at the time to keep their core together. Butler came in continuing that approach with the cap to the point that in the years following his departure, theBills were in salary cap hell. Also, as I recall it, Wilson tried during Butlers contract year to negotiate a new deal and Butler refused to discuss it. It was widely believed at the time that Butler had a handshake deal in place with San Diego, but clearly he wanted to leave. Was that because of Wilson, or because the Bills we in major trouble with the cap and were headed for a downslide because of it. Perhaps he just did not want the challenge of cleaning up the mess he created. As for Smith, Butler took him with him. He was not fired as I recall.
  8. It is a question we will be forced to answer soon enough. I suspect that if the team does in fact get moved after RW dies, a more than good possibility, you would be hard pressed to find too many fans who would say"oh well, they sucked anyway". I am not ashamed to admit I am much happier to have had Bills football as part off my life for the last 50 years than not to have had that opportunity; warts, disappointments, infuriating moments and all.
  9. I think he is being a baby and selfish and not showing any class or leadership. It seems my opinion is in the minority here, and I understand the arguements, I just generally do not like it when players spout off like this and put themselves before the team. It is highly counterproductive, even if he has reason to feel slighted. Very disappointing from Fred Jackson IMO - I thought better of him frankly.
  10. If that is what you think you are free to be a fan of some other team. The OP and the many of us like him who have lived through many ups and downs, and far worse Bills team than the current (and far better) are also free to be fans and continue to hope for the best and look forward to a turnaround. It is very tiring listening to the constant unconstructive whining. My suggestion is to enjoy it while it lasts because sometime soon this team will be elsewhere. Then you can be a Pats fan full time if that is what you want.
  11. How is 4 years/7.5 million for Jackson a lowball? They renegotiated a contract with him despite the fact he was locked in, and was not even a starting running back on the team. He has been treated just fine. I am not sure this is an issue except in the minds of a few fans. I do not hear Jackson complaining. As for Spiller starting, Gailey said it was to get a sense of how far he has progressed. Myabe we should take him at his word until we see some evidence to the contrary?
  12. If they wanted to throw a 7 th rounder at him in the supplemental draft I would not throw up, but anything else's a complete waste. Pryor is very unlikely to ever be an NFL player and has no chance of being a QB.
  13. Obviously, I missed the sarcasim. My bad. Too serious this morning I guess.
  14. Yes, if only we had picked up a cut twice retread LB we would be a much better team. Buddy must be asleep. Are you serious?
  15. Agreed. Not an issue of being a "homer" as some suggest - this article is just bad. Highly inaccurate observations.
  16. AQccording to Gailey it is precautionary. He felt a slight tweak in the hamstring that he previously injured so they held him out. Roscoe will be fine and he will be the slot receiver. No chance he will not be.
  17. Good points. Let's examine this situation - "I currently live and work in San Diego, a very nice city with perhaps the best climate in the country. Would I rather move to Miami or Buffalo? Let me think - yeah, Miami sounds good. Weather, beaches, babes - yeah, that sounds good". In the days when the Bills were a perenial contender, free agents ignored all that because at least they could be on a winning team. Until the Bills become competitive, they will have a very hard time recruiting anyone. It seems to me they are trying, but they are going to have to make this transition in the short term lacking the ability to recruit free agents with choices. Get used to it.
  18. Not saying this is a spectacular move or anything, but I am not sure who the "great guys" are on the Bills returning kicks. Spiller was the best and he averaged 23 yds per return. Smith averaged almost 29 - 2nd in the league in yds/return and 5th overall in yards. He did not return punts for the Jets and probably will not for the Bills as Roscoe is very good at that. This is a major upgrade to the return game and adds offensive flexibility and roster flexibility potentially. Good, not great, move IMO, although I would prefer to see an OT and ILB first. If they manage to fill those plus this move, it will look alot better.
  19. Agreed. This is a siutaion of little risk for the Pats. Only a 5th round draft choice, which they probably have stockpiled anyway. Haynesworth has always had attitude issues. This did not suddenly manifest itself when he arrived in Washington. He is lazy and the epitome of a me first player. If Belichek can turn him around, he gets a guy who can contribute and cause problems for opponents, especially with another player clogging up the middle. If not, no risk. In any case, not a good fit for the Bills. By the way, in case people forgot, the Bills just spent a high number 1 pick on a player who has potentially even better skills and a much better work ethic. Not sure where people think Haynesworth would fit in our defense anyway.
  20. You are a serious jerk. If you have a differing opinion, fine, but your post is a personal, insulting childish attack. Grow up. To the point of PTR's original tounge in check but accurate post, who they sign does not matter, the range of resposne from the masses here would be the same. Pretty well documented. On the Poz signing, I have already seen the entire range. If we signed Clabo, for what no doubt would need to be rediculous money, you would see the same thing. While ther might be some initial excitement, after the first sack he gives up, or if he got injured, the world would indeed turn quickly. Its the nature of a forum like this. I thought PTR's summation of it was quite humorous and dead on.
  21. Great post PTR! You are spot on.
  22. Agreed, and in fact, monopoly is the ultimate goal of any capitalist enterprise in its purest form. The NFL is a monopoly, protected by the Government as such. In order to maintain that monopoly and keep the busines growing they must ensure that all members of the monoploy are able to survive and thrive. This benefits all the members.
  23. With UFAs, no, I do not think so. They can sign anytime, once it opens. Obviously, sooner is better. The real key according to what I heard is that free agency will open with undrafted free agents, then on 7/25, teams will have an exclusive opportunity to resign their own free agents, through 7/27, then on 7/28 they are completely unrestricted. This gives the Bills a short window to resign Poz and Florence before crazy offers start coming in. We will see pretty quickly whether they want to be here or not, and whether the Bills are anxious to keep them or not. I would think so, at least in Poz's case. It will be a feeding frenzy on 7/28.
  24. There is aboslutely no evidence that Pryor has the skills, intelligence, decision maikng ability, or leadership qualities to be an NFL QB. None. I wish all the Ohio State fans would give it a rest already.
  25. I see your point but I thought Lynch had plenty of opportunity here, and Jackson ran behind the same lines. His performance is Seattle last year was very similar to his time here. Time will tell, but I do not think Lynch will ever amount to much more. Also just my opinion of course.
