He was pathetic today. Pounding on a man who was down. Then stomping on him when he got up. That was Ben Davidson style dirty and he should be suspended. Worst of all were his lies about it after the game. What a baffoon this guy is.

Stay Classy Mr WIlson, pay Fred Jackson
Bob in STL replied to THE GASH STATION's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So what is it? You said he is under contract right? To honor his contract he technically should play it out and re-nogotiate it when completed. What honor are you talking about? The fact that Fred has even asked to re-negotiate his contract suggests that he might not to honor the one he has. I am not saying that he is not worth a new contract at a higher salary but please get your story straight. If the Bills made a verbal committment to re-do his contract after the season then yes, they should come to the table. Lets take Freddy off the pedestal for acting like a normal person should act. He has a contract today that he has no legal choice but to honor. -

What drama. Fred is under contract for another season. True or false? -

If Spiller fails this week...
Bob in STL replied to John Cocktosten's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We are toast. The #9 pick has little to do with out. We cannot stretch the field. Spiller will have few holes as the jets will play 8 on the box and their dbs will press our wrs at the line. Only hope is to hit some big plays early and hope that Sanchez turns it over a lot. that might keep it interesting. -
Wrong. Rhinehart will go to right guard and Andy back to left guard. Problem solved? We do not know how Urbik will perform at center. He might not have known the line calls well enough to play there last week. He seemed like the more logical choice last week because he has more experience at center and he is much bigger than Andy, yet Chan went the way he did. Urbik might have matched up with Miami's 360 lb NT much better than Levitre. There must be a reason that Chan went with Andy. Problem Solved? We have a rookie 5th round draft pick starting at LT. I will bet that Rex and his boys are shaking in their boots.

Why isn't Bell starting at LT?
Bob in STL replied to Chris in Syracuse's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Keep him for depth? Stop making sense. This is the Bills and this is what we do. First we let our starter walk creating another massive hole to fill. Then we draft another offensive tackle in any round from 5 through 7. Next our GM tells us he cannot fill all the holes in one year but we will build by the draft and keep our own (even though we very rarely do). After that we might even pick up a very old, washed up, third tier free agent OT that was never very good to begin with. Next year, we will wonder how we got worse on the OL, just when it looked like the line was coming together. After the normal rash of injuries, when all else fails, we will sign a prospect off of a good teams Practice Squad and hope we can develop him. That way we can pay him minimum wage for a few years. -
What he says ^ Our drafts have been very poor. 2011 looks to be a step in the right direction but we have a decade of misses to flush out.

Time to bring back the traditional offense

So you like run, run, pass, punt? -
Our team would be better with both Evans and Hangartner on the roster. Nothing to argue about here. We are $20M under the cap and we do not have a legit backup center or a veteran WR on the roster. Nix is responsible. If these decisions are made elsewhere in the organization then Nix should walk. Pathetic to even be in this position.

The first drive looked so easy, right down the field
Bob in STL replied to Chuckknox's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Our defense was so bad in the first quarter that we simply deflated. After our first possession they steamrolled us. Miami made a few adjustment on defense and we never cpnverted a 3rd down all day. They beat us up on both sides of the ball. We went into the game without a legitimate NFL center. Just be thankful that Hairston did not get hurt or else our TE would have been playing tackle. Next week will be similar. Buddy Nix should be shot for letting this happen. -
I am tired of hearing that the defense played good. They gave up three TDs in less than 15 minutes. Long drives and miserable third down performace. No pressure on the QB. Game over. This great defense kept the ball out of Freddy Jackson's hands for the third straight week. They played a lousy team and made them look great, what game did you watch?

A few years ago our secondary was an area of strength. Now it is a disaster. I think the defensive coaching staff has to answer for that.

A Few Thoughts About The Game
Bob in STL replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hi Bill. 1) Agree. Nelson played like a baby today. 2) Agree X 100. Andy is a warrior 3) Sad but true. Spencer should be a backup DE on a 4-3. 4) Agree. Worst game Pears has played all year. He was also playing hurt. 5) Agree. Sheppard shows potential. 6) Agree. Spiller pick looking worse each week. 7) Agree. Aaron Williams needs more time. Once we get eliminated from the playoffs he should be moved to starter. 8) Don't know about wheels, seems like the wheels are falling off to me. 9) I wish Smith was still a Jet. 10) A bit harsh. 11) Agree. Chandler is a football player, however, don't re-sign him yet and ruin him. 12) Fitz looked bad too. He did not need help from his receievers. 13) OK. 14) Of course. -
We had Hangartner but we cut him and replaced him with Colin Brown off of somebodies practice squad. Colin makes the league minimum wage by the way.

Maybe Baltimore will give us a 4th rounder?
-
Evans is hurt and out so that explains the 2 catches. That has nothing to do with Buddy Nix. Baltimore sure wishes thay had him. Not saying that Evans is a Pro Bowler and a 4th rounder seems fair based on his recnt past but Evans brings more than Jones, Roosevelt, and Ruvell Martin can ever bring. Watch the games and then tell me we improved ourselves at WR in the off season. I can excuse the 2009 draft when it comes to OL because they obviously had higher rated players on the board when their number was up. For picking up Urbik and Pears I give them credit. Still -- my issue is two straight season coming in with no experienced depth on OL. This season has become a repeat of last year on the OL. We are just lucky that Hairston is holding up well for a rookie, he is not a natural LT. We are not lucky at center. Just when Wood was starting to dominate and become the player we expected he could be.
-
agree. We are always replacing the same positions because we do stupid things like that. Next draft what will we do? Draft a WR, or a LT, or a pass rusher? I know, lets pick a gaurd!
-
Hangartner starts for Carolina. Not saying he is a great center but he is better than nothing, as in no backup. We kept Colin Brown on the roster for a 2nd year (was on the PS for awhile). Is he better than Hargartner? Heck no. If he was he would have stepped in. Another dumb move to save a little bit of money.
-
He played tackle in college. Can't find anything that says he ever played a game at center in college. I don't recall him playing any center in preseason, but Urbik did. This team did not bring adequate OL depth into the season, just like last year. It is typical for an NFL team to dress at least 8 offensive linemen - a swing tackle, a player that can play gaurd and tackle, and another player that can play guard and center.
-
You forgot no WRs, no pass rush, and no chance at stopping the run.
