After the Hutchinson mess, Seahawks signed Nate Burleson today to a seven-year, $49 million offer sheet. Based on the merely 5+ million signing bonus, the last few years of this contract are probably bogus with very high salaries. The contract has two 'poison pills' that make the whole contract guaranteed if Burleson plays certain number of games in state of Minnesota or earns more than the highest-paid running back. In short, NFL needs to do something on these 'poison pills' or Marv needs to put some 'poison pills' next time when he signs a RFA.

On paper, TO will get more money in next three seasons. However, he may not see the last year of his current contract. TO will be 35 years old then and Cowboys can cut him with minimal cap penalty to save 7M cap space. I believe in TO's old contract with Eagles, Eagles will be forced to keep him one more year because of the high cap penalty. I may be wrong though.

How come Colts not in the list of the top 5 losers? They did re-sign Wayne and Brock, but they didn't have any significant FA signings. Colts also lost James, Thorton, and Tripplet in free agency. (Vanderjagt won't come back either).

My question is why waste cap space to find a backup QB who plays like JP now. We have so many holes, especially on O-line, and we don't have many cap room left (6-8 million?) We are not going to be a contender in near future and will get a better idea of JP's ability next season. Why not address a QB problem like this next offseason? JP may not even be our starter then.

It doesn't make sense to cut Holcomb and bring in another journey QB. Cutting Holcomb basically saves nothing in cap and it'll waste extra cap space to sign another quarterback. Why not just keep Holcomb in this case?

This sounds like our old QB, who didn't do well without an offensive line. We still don' t have an O-line and need to address that first.

I doubt Owens can see the last year of this contract. He will count about 10.2 million against Cowboys' cap on 2008. It's too high for a 35 years old wide receiver. Besides, Cowboys can save 7 miillion cap room by cutting Owens before 2008 season.

my 2 cents: Randy Moss - The assumption is the players are healthy. Moss and Walker both have attitude problems (Remember the feud between Favre and Walker last season?) Hines Ward - 30 years old do-it-all Ward vs. 27 years old Walker with attitude problems, I'll take Ward Roy Williams - 24 years old, His QB is Joey Harrington. Walker has Favre. Reggie Wayne - more consistent than Walker, who only had one good season. Andre Johnson - 24 years old, best season: 1142 yds, 6 TD. His QB is David Carr and his team hasn't had a o-line for a long time.
