  1. The issue I have mostly with his interviews is that he hardly talk about joining Arizona. He mentioned Cardinals few times including when he said he was upset after he didn't get picked in top 3 and thought he'd have to fake smile once he's picked, then he forgot all of it when he go the call. But in general, every time he mentioned Arizona, it's all standard comments/answers and doesn't seem from his heart that he is happy to join them. In general, he talks much more about himself than becoming a member of Arizona Cardinals. On the other hand, Allen talked about Buffalo Bills in almost all interviews after draft. He didn't just mention Bills, but really talked about it and was exciting to join the team.
  2. First, if people are not familiar with "estimated wins" and "Pythagorean wins", they may be misled into thinking the above bold statement means using two different formulas resulting in similar results that Bills should only have 6~7 wins. In fact, "estimated wins" is just an adjustment from "Pythagorean wins". In other words, "estimated wins" would usually be fairly close to "Pythagorean wins" after Football outsiders adjust "Pythagorean wins" by DVOA(s), or the so called "forest index". The basic idea of "estimated wins" is to take strength of opponents into account. Second, with "estimated wins" based on "Pythagorean wins", the next question is what "Pythagorean wins" is? It's a formula created by Bill James for baseball advanced statistics. Only two factors are used, points for and points against. The following is the formula (after adjusted from Bill James' original formula): How good this formula is is up to debate. However, one obvious flaw in the formula is the sample size. Using points for and points against from 162 games and 16 games is totally different. With larger sample size like 162 games, few good/bad games and injuries have much smaller impact on points for and points against. The same can't be said to a 16-game sample size. Pretty much all Bills fans know this team won several close games this season and lost two games by large margins (10-47 against Saints and 24-54 against Chargers). Points for and points against are greatly affected by these games. Again, how good Pythagorean win formula is is debatable, but obviously it wouldn't work in football as well as baseball simply due to sample size.
  3. Seriously, what's wrong with Zach Brown?? Any reasonable person would agree this kind of hit has no place in football especially in this CTE awareness era. Davante Adams: Thomas Davis was 'head hunting' with blindside hit that led to concussion
  4. report is Brady smashed his phones after hearing the news and denied ever knowing the fan who pull the alarm. When asked about the smashed phone, Brady replied he thought iphone9 came out today.
  5. It's a 3-year contract that it can be voided after the first season, the 2nd and 3rd years were made to reduce the cap hit. There is no way we do not reconstruct the his contract after this season if we want to keep him. His cap hit is 10 million in year 2 and 3. Edit: Contract detail: http://espn.go.com/blog/afceast/post/_/id/75707/bills-get-creative-with-percy-harvin-pact

  8. You are assuming Bills can sign Murray in FA with the same contract Eagles gave him, which is likely not true. There are rumors that Raiders actually offered significantly more guaranteed money than Eagles, but Murray went to Eagles anyway. Free agents may start to view Bills differently with the new owner, but Raiders and Bills are usually low in FAs' list. Source: http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/eagles/297321071.html Kelly obviously didn't want McCoy back - as evidenced by the comparable contract he gave Murray. The Eagles offered Murray more per year than the Jaguars, general manager David Caldwell told reporters on Monday. And they bid more than the Cowboys. But the Raiders did offer Murray significantly more guaranteed money, an NFL source said.
  9. Sometimes I also ask myself this question. I have no tie to Buffalo, never been to Buffalo, and never watch a game in Ralph Stadium, but somehow I support Bills and keep suffering.
  10. Of course, Smith is the sole reason Jets are 5-4. Just like Dilfer is the only reason Ravens won their first superbowl. /sarcasm off
  11. one question to Lewis and Suggs is how Goodell can predict blackout will help 49ers. If Goodall wants to take a chance, why didn't he just take a chance that 49ers will play better even without blackout? In week 2 this season against Seahawks, 49ers played like sh*t before a long lightning delay and played even worse afterward. Obviously a long delay doesn't always help them.
  12. exactly, no win is easy especially on the road. If Panthers went for 4th&1 and converted or refs didn't call PI on Kuechly, people on this board would have talked about how Jets would dominate us. Now, after a win, people become cocky and talk about easy wins.
  13. Joe Buscaglia ‏@JoeBuscaglia League source confirms @RapSheet's report that the #Bills and C Eric Wood have agreed on a contract extension. No numbers yet.
  14. Tebow, the mighty Tebow.
  15. It looks to me he actually makes progression in his read. He was looking at someone else who likely didn't get open, and looked at #15 and threw to him.
  16. Aaron Hernandez Destroyed Home Security System and Phone, Sources Tell ABC News http://abcnews.go.com/US/aaron-hernandez-destroyed-home-security-system-phone-sources/story?id=19445131#.UcNLS0FKzRa Police plan to go back to the home of New England Patriot's tight end Aaron Hernandez today with another warrant based on evidence that "he destroyed his home security system,'' an investigator close to the case told ABC News. The investigator, and other law enforcement sources, confirmed that the security system - which included video surveillance - was smashed intentionally. And a cell phone used by Hernandez was handed over to investigators "in pieces'' by his attorneys, the sources said. Police also want to know why a team of house cleaners were hired on Monday to scrub Hernandez's mansion, sources told ABC News.

  19. You are confusing "market value" to "market price". In your example, $8m is the market price, not market value. When market price is higher than market value, the person is overpaid. When market price is lower than market value, the person is underpaid. So yes, people can be overpaid or underpaid. http://en.wikipedia....ki/Market_value http://en.wikipedia....ki/Market_price Market value is a concept distinct from market price, which is “the price at which one can transact”, while market value is “the true underlying value” according to theoretical standards. The concept is most commonly invoked in inefficient markets or disequilibrium situations where prevailing market prices are not reflective of true underlying market value. For market price to equal market value, the market must be informationally efficient and rational expectations must prevail.
  20. Jimmy Clausen agrees with you that their grading is correct.
  21. Teams can still utilize the roll-over cap and take less hit in the cap in future years though. One way to do it is, instead of giving big signing bonus, give roster bonus to the FA. Vikings did this on 2004 when signing Winfield. Vikings had lots of extra cap room that year due to quite a few LTBE bonuses didn't meet in the previous season. By giving Winfield 10.8M roster bonus instead of 10.8M signing bonus, this 10.8M all counted to 2004 cap, not prorated to the length of the contracts. Of course, Viking had much more extra cap room in 2004, but this tactic can still be used when there are fewer extra cap room, for example, reduce signing bonus and give more roster bonus in the 1st season. There are some risks, for example, players may not agree to it because they want the bonus when signing the deal (signing bonus) instead of when season starts (roster bonus), or players can choose to retire early and don't need to repay the bonus. But these are relative minor issues. In short, there are ways to utilize the rollover cap and not waste it while taking smaller cap hit in future years. --------------- WINFIELD'S BONUS IS 2004 MONEY The Minnesota Vikings have made good use of that $33 million in cap room. According to the Minneapolis Star Tribune, Winfield's $10.8 million in bonus money wasn't a signing bonus but a roster bonus. This means that the money gets paid in 2004 -- and that it counts against the 2004 salary cap. Winfield's 2004 cap number, including bonus and salary, is $12.5 million. The move means that the Vikings will carry only Winfield's salary against the cap in future years -- not prorated portions of his bonus money. It also means that the Vikings can dump or trade Winfield at any point during the life of the deal, with no cap hit.
  22. There are still too many possible scenarios in this whole mess, for example (1) Te'o didn't start the hoax, never knew about it the whole time, didn't embellish his relationship of his "girlfriend" to get publicity (2) Te'o didn't start the hoax, never knew about it the whole time, but embellished his relationship of his "girlfried" to get publicity (3) Te'o didn't start the hoax, but knew it early and embellished his relationship of his "girlfried" to get publicity (4) Te'o started the hoax and used it to get publicity Now, from Te'o's side of story, he "probably" didn't start the hoax, but he never showed anything to remove the doubts about him embellishing the relatinoship to get publicity. In fact, there are reports saying he wasn't that close to his "Lennay" and just used "her death" to get publicitgy. However, people defending Te'o are quickly to toss the whole thing away and claiming nothing to be seen here. When others have any more questions about him, they are called Te'o haters trying to trash a young man like Te'o. There are many things still needed to be answered for public to form their opinion on Te'o, maybe Te'o doesn't care, maybe Te'o doesn't have the evidents like 8-hour nightly call, maybe Te'o just thinks he doesn't need to prove anything anymore. But the bottom line is there are still questions and Te'o defenders are way too early to anounce his innocent. Personally I don't care if Te'o started the hoax or not, what I care is whether he used death by cancer to get publicity no matter he started the hoax or he embellished the relationship. When you have famility members suffering and fighting cancers, you wouldn't be able to support Te'o until he clears his name on whether he used cancer and death for publicity in any way.
