  1. Beasley absolutely didn’t fall off a cliff last year - he never had any speed to begin with. Some fans like to justify a player Leaving by saying such things. My opinion is the Bills grew a bit sick of his antics and Beasley didn’t like some of the backlash he got from the public. Fresh start for both I suppose
  2. Agree. Brown needs to improve at RT this year, and i think he will. Asking a 3rd round pick to start at RT as a rookie (especially one from a small program) is asking a lot. He struggled a ton, which would be expected, but Josh bailed him out a lot. Josh had one of the highest pressure rates in the NFL. It's one of the subtle differences between a Josh Allen and Joe Burrow. You pressure Josh and more often than not he escape; you pressure Burrow and more often than not he's sacked. good theory - quite possible
  3. Correct - can't restructure it until next year. I really like this signing - I didn't think we'd match and he was really really good last year. He's got a lot of quick in his game and Kromer will utilize this - a lot of pulling, probably a lot of zone blocking. Bates and the new LG we signed are really athletic. The guys we cut free, Feliciano and Williams were not.
  4. This is what I think happened: Beane tendered Bates at the lowest level cuz he didn't think he'd attract all that much attention - this turned out to be be incorrect. Beane should have put the 2nd round tender on him. It would have cost a bit more than the $2m lower level tender but would have dissuaded other clubs from attempting to sign him 'cuz nobody's giving up a 2nd rounder for him. In the end Beane pays a bit more this year for Bates than he wanted, but the good thing is they get him for 4 years at a reasonable contract instead of 1 year (having to go through this all again in a year). Contrary to what some have said here, I think he did grade out very well in his starts at LG. Singletary took off around the same time Bates got in the lineup. Big Q is can he play RG as well as he did LG? Personally, I have more concern with Brown at LT than i have with Bates at LG
  5. nope unless he's a guard like the Colts drafted in the 1st (right before we drafted Josh) - can't remember his name. There are no guards like that in this draft, certainly not at 25. my picks: rd 1: CB or WR rd 2: CB or wr (Whichever you didn't pick in rd 1) rd 3: Guard (or Tackle who projects as a guard) rd 4: CB or WR rd 5: CB or WR, whichever you didn't choose in rd 5 3 picks in rds 6 and 7: Bets player available, one should be a punter
  6. Maybe they are and just are making Chicago wait. Then they take the Bates money and put it towards a veteran?? or Beane is irritated that Chicago signed him, plans to match, and making Chicago wait puts Chicago in the disadvantage of not pursuing another guard
  7. Only $20m for Diggs? Where did you see this? I would think with receivers getting $30m, he’d want at least $25m
  8. No offer reported (I don’t think) - Bills have to Wednesday to match
  9. Instead of having to take him in the 3rd or 4th, I’d rather wait and take the Penn St or GA punter with one of sixths. Both of these guys are really good and we don’t punt all that much anyway
  10. Not the complete 2.5m gets added back cuz the next highest contract hits the cap now - so prob a minimum contact of around $900,000. So around 1.6m becomes available - not a ton….. I think the deadline to match is Wednesday
  11. Really nice Wake forest kid who wake forest wouldn’t feature for whatever reason. High character, smart, fast and talented- he’ll be a good one
  12. worked for Knox too. I could see them trade up for a WR, but not really a CB. Their zone defense hides deficiencies in CB's
  13. Correct - Beane talked about Tre giving him a big hug the other day That doesn’t make sense given the timing of the injury. You might be confusing his acl injury with Jameson Williams (Alabama we) who tore his in January and may be out a bit into the regular season
  14. Nope - Jones will have got vet minimum and, once you knock off whatever guy is 51st $$ on the Bill's roster, Jones will cost a couple hundred thousand the cap. Virtually nothing
  15. Makes sense - so the cap hit would be his salary minus whatever contract he knocks out of the top 51; probably something around $850,000 - so cap hit of $150,000 = nothing
  16. Taiwan's contract most likely won't affect our cap. It won't be in the top 51 contracts so it's irrelevant = smart signing
  17. Great measurables but does it translate to his onfield production?? Wouldn't mind at all Dotson in the 1st, O-line in the 2nd, Castro-Fields in the 3rd and Stout in the 6th
  18. Don't like Hall in the 1st at all. Switch that with another CB (draft two CB's) and draft a RB where he drafted the LB (Rd 4). waiting until the 5th to draft an Olineman is pretty bad too
  19. I can't believe people are getting upset over possibly losing Bates. He's a nice player but really JAG
  20. It depends on the Bear contract. If they frontloaded it, the Bills probably don't match. For all we know, Bates could be viewed by the Bills brass the same way as Wallace obviously was - highly replacable. Also, with Bate's RG spot filled already, would he be as good at LG??
