  1. Totally agree with you here RochesterFan. Hoping that we can improve the OL, snag a CB one way or another AND land Breece Hall or KWIII. Too much to ask for though.... unless we get a miracle in the Free Agency or via TRADE. Beane is one smart GM though and there has to be a way.
  2. NewEra..... You get a little bogged down with schemes.... I think we can all agree that we already have a great passing game but could benefit from an improved running game. Simple As That
  3. I'll just put this here: https://www.nfl.com/news/peter-schrager-2022-nfl-mock-draft-2-0-bills-add-offense-chiefs-double-down-on-d
  4. You know, this draft is deep at WR and I'd rather see who's available as a potential long term player for the Bills with 4th round WR options. Interesting idea though. I think that the FO thinks more about whether a player will help the team win superbowls moreso than thinking about 5th year options. If a bon afide PLAYMAKER can be added, I think they just go get 'em.
  5. Yes, and actually although I'm SURE they tried to shore up the position, the silver lining is that they will have more time to assess Tre's injury.
  6. One of my all time favorite players was LaDanian Tomlinson and I saw him GUSHING over Breece Hall's skill set recently. As far as I'm concerned, if Hall is as good as LT thinks he can be, it would be worth landing him despite our need at Cornerback. I'm actually thinking that if we don't trade UP for a cornerback, the best option would be to trade BACK for Breece Hall, and get an extra second rounder out of the trade (using one or both second round pics on cornerbacks). I also read an article where Beane was discussing our CB need and he is in a "don't panic" mindset and feels that there is plenty of time to address CB in the draft, and during the time after the draft, when guys like Joe Haden (and others who are testing the market) could see their prices reduced. In Beane I trust.....
  7. Depends on whether we draft a very high round OG this year that proves in training camp that he could beat out Saffold or Bates. For all we know, we might just draft a few developmental Interior O-linemen, and run with our current starters. Depends on what the draft provides.
  8. Thanks for contributing nedboy7. From what I'm seeing, there are a core group of nay-sayers but also some who agree with some of the points I layed out. I know I differ in opinion than most, hence the outlier thread topic. I'm holding strong on the need to create dominant run game and give Allen more protection. That includes targeting Hall or KWIII, and shoring up the interior OL (and for me, that includes Center, a point that many disagree on, but that's okay). TE seems to be another point of contention. I DO like Knox, but think we can add another TE. Some squabble over where I had CB, but I still feel that we should target CB in the first three rounds despite where they are on my list (because, like I said in the OP, that position is "amplified" if you will.... and being weak at CB or QB, those positions have to be addressed earlier in drafts). Anyways, I like the way Airseven outlined himself and I'll do the same. NOTE: If a top 15 prospect slips to 25, go with BPA, including WR, LB, OT, DT, S (and of course any positions listed below) Round1: CB, OC, OG, RB (but only in a trade down). May need to trade UP for a corner in the first, because I feel that the best first round corners will be gone before 25, and I hate when teams reach on "need" and miss out on "value". Remember though, we would need a trade partner, which does not always happen, so for me, if the top CB's are gone, we should stick with VALUE and I believe that would be an interior O-lineman. Linderbaum (the player we seem to be all upset over....) has been flying off the mock drafts earlier than 25 in some cases, so he might not even be an option. We MAY be looking at an OG in round one if one of the top 15 prospects does not slip to us. Best value, BPA, and a position of need. Round 2: Depending on what we get in round one; CB, OC, OG, RB, TE. (If we get a position above, cross it off the list). This is where I feel we may need to either trade down to get Hall or KWIII OR trade up to the top of the second. I strongly feel that Allen and our WRs would explode next season if we had defenses having to contend with a top 5 running game. Round 3: CB, Interior OL, TE. Here is where I'm hoping for either McBride, Likely, or Ruckert. HOWEVER, if we still haven't landed a cornerback, I think you have to go Corner unless Beane finds some magical way to get a starting corner outside of the draft. We've seen draft day player trades before so although it's rare, I'll be looking out for it on draft day. For the rest of the draft, I basically think BPA is the way to go and my positions are below. Numbers below that. Round 4: CB (I would pick CB in any round as we not only need a starter, but better depth), DE, DT, OT, LB, WR Round 5: CB (I would pick CB in any round as we not only need a starter, but better depth), DE, DT, OT, LB, WR Round 6: CB (I would pick CB in any round as we not only need a starter, but better depth), DE, DT, OT, LB, WR Round 7: CB (I would pick CB in any round as we not only need a starter, but better depth), DE, DT, OT, LB, WR Numbers: No more than two CB No more than one OC No more than one TE No more than two OG No more than two RB No more than two LB No more than two WR No more than one DE The reality is, that on this high talent roster, late round picks will have a hard time making the 53 man roster, and will be more likely destined for the PS, and developed. Cornerbacks have a chance. I'd say linebackers as well.
  9. And another article from "right here" on TE Likely as a potential target. Projects to the 3rd or 4th round. https://buffalonews.com/sports/bills/draft-profile-tight-end-isaiah-likely-could-bring-downfield-presence-to-bills/article_cab968fe-ba93-11ec-b5d4-2309fca42ab8.html
  10. So if the above article were right (and with the writer's justification of such a pick), my guess is that Morse would slide to Guard. I'd approach the rest of the draft as above. I wanted CB in round 3, but the value wasn't there.
  11. Thanks for the discussion and entertainment today. ....and now back to your regularly scheduled program. It will be interesting to see what happens on draft day and who our starters will be. Go Bills
  12. Yeah that makes a lot of sense. So who are your "hopefuls" in early rounds? And do you have any sleepers beyond round 3 that could fill that role?
  13. Yeah I agree. It's slim pickings out there for CBs. Nobody's arguing that CB is a high draft need. I just wished Beane landed a quality FA. We only see the outcome. We don't see how many OFFERS were made to land an FA CB. Can't win them all (I'm assuming here though... that there were calls). Just found this on PFF discussing potential post draft cap casualties. If the draft board shaped up to draft OC high, Morse might be a cap casualty. That's a big IF, but I'm not the only one thinking that the INTERIOR O-LINE needs to be addressed. From PFF: "BUFFALO BILLS: C MITCH MORSE Cut cap savings: $8,500,000 Cut dead money: $2,750,000 The Bills signed center Morse to a four-year, $44 million contract heading into quarterback Josh Allen’s second season, an important addition to help the young signal-caller make protection calls and oversee a high-octane offense. While Morse has been solid if unspectacular, he agreed to a pay cut prior to the 2021 season and followed that up with his lowest pass-blocking and run-blocking grades so far in Buffalo. Buffalo has made it clear that protecting Allen is its top priority going forward, but the $8.5 million in potential savings from releasing Morse may help accomplish that goal more than retaining him. "
  14. Yes, I agree with a trade back, but not out of the first. He'll be gone sooner than pick 45 IMO.
  15. Nobody expects draftees to be immediate starters. Even some first rounders need some time.... You draft for team building, continuity, and adding youth to aging positional groups. If you are lucky enough to find an immediate, starting caliber upgrade, you are doing well, especially on a playoff caliber team like the bills.
  16. I said in my OP that CB is likely at the top of the list that I posted...... And I didn't say anything about Siran Neal or Dane Jackson being better than Morse. Both are most certainly NOT better than Morse.... I see Taron Johnson as a player with more upside actually. We need to address CB in FA, and pick CB in the top 3 or 4 rounds.
  17. Just disputing the "look at me" comment John.
  18. Geez.... I'm just having a conversation here. Not enjoying the negativity.
  19. RB Breece Hall in round 1 TE Trey McBride in round 2 Corner round 3 O-line round 4/5 Late round considerations: WR, LB, DL, OT. (WR is deep in this draft and we can get a speedy option in round 5) Depends on how the board shapes up each round. Honest to God I'm not a troll here. I just see RB/TE/OL as a higher need than many of you. CB is a huge need. I just hope that there will be a post draft CB FA that becomes available. It's unlikely but Beane really should have addressed this hole earlier IMO. I'm not sure if I want the team going into the season counting on a rookie CB in a starting role (with a playoff game on the line).
  20. Just read the actual words I wrote about CB..... I appreciate your response. I just respectfully disagree that TE is set. I want a dominant playmaker there. Not an average player. I hear you about Safety and just thought that we'd be good for one more season. Our starters are HIGH quality at both FS and SS. TE, I just feel Knox isn't much of a threat. That's all.... I like Singletary but not as a feature back. Watching Hall and KWIII in the lead up to the draft has me thinking we could do much better. I don't think defenses do much planning around Singletary, but would potentially take more time/notice scheming against Hall or KWIII. Thanks for your response. Wow, you thought up that joke all by yourself. I'll give you a trophy.
  21. That I think we can ALL agree on.. Here's a question. Which player do you think is the weakest STARTING link on offense?
  22. Thanks for the well thought out post. Let me respond. Center: This team can win with our current center, but I'd be happy if the BOARD fell a certain way on draft day and the OC was the best of window Beane is looking at. I wouldn't throw my beer at the TV if we picked OC even in the first round if it were Linderbaum (and the other candidates would be considered reaches). Runningback: Seems like we are in agreement, although my description of the group we have is more harsh. DE: We are in agreement except I was listing Miller as a Linebacker (and yes I know he can play at the line too. Corner: We are in agreement OT: We are in agreement (which is why OT is close to the bottom of my list). Not a high need, but we could add a developmental late rounder to shore up depth and look to the future. Linebacker: Seems we are in agreement here too. WR: I agree we need speed but if the question was down between a WR vs. a RB like KWIII or Hall, I'd go RB. As for the "fatal flaw", I think what some are confusing here is that I don't expect an upgrade at every offensive position. Just the ones at the top of my list. My "needs" at the bottom (and you can see this in the OP explanation) are LOW DRAFT NEEDS (almost negligible, but worth mentioning). Thanks again for taking some time to think about this instead of piling on.
