I believe if Watson is suspended, the Browns are not obligated to pay him his weekly salary. That raised eyebrows when last year's salary was set at NFL minimum, so that Watson only lost about $60k/game for his 11 game suspension or $660k total. Looking it up, the same is true this year. So the Browns would not be on the hook for about $60k/game for any games Watson is suspended. They stay on the hook for the rest, though. I missed it but to be consistent in NFL enforcement, he should have been.

The two face mask penalties were bad enough - he could have hurt two players. When did he shove a ref, and why wasn't he tossed for that? AJ Epenesa got tossed for putting an elbow back when a ref shoved him from behind, then turning around and apologizing when he saw it was a ref. Ref tossed him anyway.

My only concern about Bernard, from the way I've seen him play, is just that - that he can get trucked - maybe not just by OLmen, but by physical RBs and TEs. I would have liked to see him come in with a more muscular build, but maybe he did get stronger and it just didn't show up as bulk. The other thing that really struck me yesterday watching the Browns at Steelers game, is how the Steelers defenders often seemed to be on their own, to tackle or not. The Bills defense seems to do a much better job of "flowing to the ball" and assisting each other, so maybe that can compensate. We'll see when we play a team with a top TE.

I couldn't see this on the televised game, but it appears to me from the snap counts that Taron Johnson was substituted out about 5% of the snaps, and Dodson took them (probably scattered throughout the game, meaning the Bills were in base 4-3 on some snaps) The point wasn't that Dodson played extensively or anything like that; it was to the OP's "I never want to see Dodson on the field again" well, on Sunday you saw him and nothing particularly notable went down, it wasn't even noticed he was playing.

He may or may not be better than Dodson right now in our system. Let’s assume for a second he is Dodson is a regular and a leader on ST. 79% of ST snaps so far. Kirksey last played significant ST snaps back in 2017 and regular in 2016.
