I wouldn’t say I’m not impressed I just don’t think he’s so mind blowingly good of an OC that he’s a can’t miss head coaching prospect and having a great oline definitely opens the playbook up more. Obviously if we get blown out in the wildcard round or something the decision gets easier, but if we lose a tight game in the second or third round that is a toughhhh decision to make. tale as old as time a hyped coordinator leaves for a head coaching job and the team is unaffected but the hyped coordinator completely flames out as a head coach. Heck it just happened with us not long ago and it’s probably about to happen again haha

This fascination with Ben Johnson puzzles me a bit. We’d be moving on from a HC with a ton of experience to a first time head coach that’s OC of a team with an oline so good they’d make any nfl oc look competent. I would not at all be surprised if he flames out when he finally takes a shot somewhere heck Ulbrich was thought of to be a big head coaching candidate to the point where the jets thought they’d get a boost from him taking over early and he has failed his audition massively it’s a big risk and you better be sure you’re right if you take that chance lol

I don’t really get that cuz we’d have more competition if we weren’t as good lol it’s like chicken or the egg 🤣 if the dolphins beat us twice this year they are leading the division right now with an easy closing schedule. If we split we’d be less comfy but still leading and a tough game vs Detroit coming up

I don’t even know that he’s great and that’s not even my argument really…I think people aren’t really expecting how much new Hc/gms turn over the roster if mcd truly is good not great there’s a better shot he gets some good fortune and wins a superbowl than a full reload under a first time hc being successful and that competitive in Josh’s prime.. single game elimination playoffs really are a bit more luck based than anyone cares to admit

I still do also…I think this one put the josh lost a step nonsense to bed. Rams made a ton of plays in this one in tight coverage it was the best collective game from qb/multiple wrs I think I’ve seen in awhile. It’s gonna take a lot to deny Josh playoff wins imo. a wildcard round upset would make next year virtually Super Bowl or bust for mcd.

He is also fresh off running that entire franchise straight into the ground or it would make a tiny bit of sense to me haha if he was 20 years younger it wouldn’t be particularly crazy

I love the asterisks that get applied to bills wins haha. Chiefs win doesn’t count because they almost lost a few games which I saw argued earlier, Seahawks win doesn’t count because of geno smith lol if we ended up pulling this out nobody would’ve considered the rams a good team despite playing great lions don’t have a lot of quality wins either by these standards

How does that ‘force the decision’ any differently than it was forced on 4th and 5 though haha I just don’t get the criticism at all. They netted 2 yards but were forced to make an extra play to avoid coming away with absolutely nothing. incomplete pass,sack, small gain, etc and you have 0 scoring/drive extending options

This is an insane argument to me…rams were going for it on 4th and 7 very very likely. You think a 3rd and 17 is likely picked up cuz of receiver confidence yada yada but they wouldn’t hit on a 4th and 7? Lol It was a whopping 2 yards further than what they ultimately attempted. You back them up and potentially make that decision really tough/impossible on 3rd and long every time. the rams easily could’ve been running out clock on themselves with that decision. kind of the epitome of the mcd criticism on this board to me…yea he does some dumb stuff like the sneak late but a lot of this stuff y’all question in hindsight you can easily make the case for what he did

I think people are saying he got two things wrong in a row but the accepting the hold felt like a great call to me tbh the sneak was definitely a mess and I think they had to go into it saying sneak twice without using a timeout if you get stopped…def a mess up but it felt like a pretty specific situation to me that I don’t think will repeat granted maybe the sneak doesn’t work the second time if we weren’t coming out of a timeout who knows
