It’s qb play/ben Johnson imo…I don’t think Caleb is bad by any means but despite Moore pretty much always being open Caleb didn’t seem to look his way as much in the Ben Johnson offense compared to other guys. He ran a ton of decoy go routes it seemed like Moore certainly got hurt bad by Caleb’s rookie year in 2024.

I think that was more a Caleb Williams thing…Moore was getting snaps and getting open last year but he didn’t seem to be the guy Caleb looked for under duress. Gonna be one of those ‘good trade for both teams’ type things imo

They really needed one more year of early draft order and I think they would’ve been a problem for a long time. That team ran on pretty much an unsustainable amount of long term injury luck though and despite makin the Super Bowl I feel like they’ve got a good amount of roster work to do and will now fall into that good not great trap. They were 1-2 injuries away from falling off pretty hard at pretty much every point of this season and you can normally count on that happening they really do remind me of the commanders tbh…cheated parity a bit and now parity is gonna fight them hard

I feel like Campbell probably gets benched if they had literally anyone else…the pats oline depth is absolutely horrendous

Restructurin guys and restructurin jeffersons contract. It’s pretty doable in theory…not sure the Vikings would ever give him up though

It’s pretty interesting in all those Super Bowl appearances they looked like the significantly better team maybe once? You’d think in their massive sample size they would’ve won a few like the Seahawks did yesterday

Can’t even call it disappearance in the playoff for Diggs anymore lol. We’re still waiting for a reappearance since like 2020

Injury free was huge for them because depth is their biggest issue I’d say. I don’t think they were quite 4 win bad last year if they stayed this healthy but they had more average injury luck last year. Definitely improved a lot for sure but that was a big factor too

Oh yea I don’t think there’s ever been a bigger talent level disparity between those three non common games comparing two teams in a division race haha it was three teams that were in play for the number 1 pick well into the season vs three playoff level teams

That’s definitely the vibe I got…it’s pretty staggering comparing maye’s playoff tape to someone like mahomes in the superbowl last year who truly didn’t have much of a chance

The Jay valai/jim Leonard two for one had to be pretty close to best case scenario. Think they played together in Wisconsin. Don’t know much about Jamison but he seems pretty highly regarded too I could see valai getting DC offers pretty quickly if things go at least pretty well in the secondary. Probably got Leonard for at least a couple years unless things go insanely well on defense lol

I mean at least you don’t have discrepancies like the bills getting Houston and pats getting Tennessee though like this year haha it’s gonna be pretty ironic when they blame the first place schedule when we take the division back 😂

Both those teams showed up for the Super Bowl at least and damn near won it

He’s been pretty bad in every big game they’ve just had very few big games. The whole ‘Drake made it further than Josh’ argument is kinda wild…if you give Josh the NE defense or mahomes getting knocked out of an entire afc championship game he’s never losing. Drake had probably the worst all time Super Bowl run by a qb…I don’t think Rex grossman was that bad and Kerry collins had an absolute monster game against Minnesota. Dilfer didn’t have a lot of yards but he limited turnovers at least

I think maye got figured out a bit but they just didn’t see enough good teams for it to really become obvious down the stretch of the regular season. When McDermott has his best half of defense against you in the 4th half of football played against him that’s a pretty big red flag 😂It’ll be really interesting to see what happens next year but I think he’s in the 10-16th best qb area somewhere feels like that scramble up the middle is a bit of a crutch and if that’s not available he kinda loses track of the pocket when he’s under pressure. Sam Darnold was way off accuracy wise a lot of the night too but it felt like his pocket presence was miles better than maye’s. If you flip the qbs teams I think Darnold on the pats makes it a closer game there’s certainly some plays where you just gotta accept aren’t going anywhere against a good defense and cut your losses but a lot of times maye held the ball wayyy too long

I don’t think he’s ever really had elite athleticism so physical dbs in the playoffs that get away with some holding don’t have a ton of trouble with him. Really good route runner with good football iq but it hasn’t ever really felt like you have to double him in the playoffs in the real big games. he had some good games in the first round or two though

It’s a myth that players get better every year…it happens often that the circumstances are right for one season then defenses adapt to it and guys or whole teams even fall off

Crazy they knocked out JSN for a quarter+ too haha I think most think they got pretty lucky…they really had to blow out the broncos or hang with the Seahawks to quiet that argument and they did neither. I really can’t recall something like this happening before lol. That felt like a 7 seed type team had an ‘angels in the outfield’ scenario (if you’ve seen that movie 😂) and it got them all the way to the Super Bowl. bills knocked out one team that would probably beat them, then two teams that would beat them essentially knocked out eachother

It really was an absolute slog for the viewers haha I mean I love defense as much as anyone but when you get into both teams running hb draws on third and long back to back drives something is wrong 😂 the only thing makin that watchable was the pats losing lol I might’ve shut that off if it was broncos Seahawks

I’m pretty sure the Seahawks could’ve scored 35+ but they had the luxury of going extremely conservative because their defense wasn’t getting scored on. Seahawks missed a handful of deep shots by inches and didn’t even really take that many. their conservative gameplan kinda played right into the pats defenses strength and they were still able to move the ball okay. Looked like the pats were getting beat in single coverage pretty often

I feel like I watched a lot of maye and really didn’t see this much….im trying to be as objective as possible but im not sure thats completely possible of course 😂. I think extending plays is kinda a weakness for him relative to the josh/lamar/mahomes type guys tbh.. it just kinda always felt like something was missing for him. I don’t think it’s an age thing either cuz guys like Josh or mahomes etc were doing it from the very beginning. If you give him that escape route up the middle he’s gonna make you pay but I don’t see a lot of him navigating a messy pocket and hitting a big throw. Feels like he kinda panics for a split second under pressure and against a good dline that’s all it takes. He made one real nice throw under pressure in this one where he perfectly led a receiver into a mess of defenders but it looked like he tried the same thing on a later drive and threw a terrible int so it kinda averaged out pats felt like they had guys comically wide open all season until the playoffs it was really interesting. The way the playoffs went down im starting to lean more towards maye is pretty good and mcdaniels was elevating him to great but the talent disparity between the pats offense/opposing defenses was too big for mcdaniels magic to continue in the playoffs He got hurt and missed a lot of time…classic pats luck lol. Had a shot at a huge td before halftime but Darnold missed the throw by like 5 yards.. I think he missed most of the third quarter and some for the 4th the rams were like 2/3rds of the top tier playoff caliber teams the Seahawks saw down the stretch to be fair haha

I’d be curious to see what the Seahawks could’ve done on offense if they cared less about minimizing risk and more about scoring points lol.. seems like they just missed on the very few times they actually took a shot but the plays were there.. I see a lot of the pats dbs getting talked up but it seemed like they were getting beat in single coverage a good amount even though the scoreboard wasn’t even close I think the scoreboard was closer than the game actually was 😂

Yea that was a very weird game that’s definitely not the norm imo.. Seahawks could play crazy conservative on offense because they knew the pats offense was too limited to score. I think bills Seahawks woulda been another both teams score 30 and it could easily go either way games Oline is definitely the most important unit in the playoffs imo.. they don’t want to throw flags so if you let a good oline get away with some holds on top of them being good already they are gonna be very very tough to stop. Pats this year and chiefs last year just didn’t have that. the way the playoffs are officiated I think you’ve gotta shell out for an obscenely good pass rusher that two or three olinemen have to hold the sh*t out of to stop if you’re gonna lean into defense.. I don’t think the handful of pretty good pass rushers really works come playoff time

Football is so crazy…one play changes so much haha I think one really bad throw by Darnold allowed for Gonzalez to go from getting some blame to being elite in the game.. looked like jsn beat him pretty bad in a situation where that absolutely cannot happen just before halftime with no timeouts and Darnold threw the ball wayyy behind where it needed to be which gave Gonzalez a shot at a pass breakup

Yea they could only play that conservative because the defense was very good and pats offense is pretty devoid of playmakers/offensive line really struggled though. It’s a very thin line between lookin like a genius with a conservative gameplan and one big play getting your opponent right back in it
