We can watch the Chicago Edmunds vs the Washington Commanders unencumbered by a conflicting Bills game tonight.

Very sad. Great Player.

Allen's completion percentage - Him, or Dorsey or the weapons
Chaos replied to FireChans's topic in The Stadium Wall
The impact of turnovers is hugely exaggerated. Bad teams lose. Bad teams have lots of turnovers. Bad teams lose because they are bad, not because they have turnovers. The situation you are discussing is an extreme example. However people underestimate the rump act of a punt. In the modern game the only difference between a punt and a turn over is average starting field position. Against the best offenses, ie Chiefs and Bills, starting field position is not a huge factor. Allen or Mahomes starting on their own 20, is more likely to result in points than Justin Fields starting at midfield. -
Since 2020, Bills lead NFL in point differential at +573...

I am not aware of anyone who posts on TBD disputes the Bills have been one of the best regular season team the last several years. (that #1 seed has been elusive, so not the actual best") -
Josh Named AFC Offensive Player of the Week 2 and Week 4

Everyone who soiled their pants over Josh only getting the team to a tie in regulation should feel embarrassed. -
Every Snap Edmunds played against the Broncos. Five minutes of your life, you will never get back. https://x.com/ImBearingDown/status/1709704176949731688?s=20

About 50% of #1 seeds make it to the Super Bowl. Correlation is more likely at play than causation. Most often the #1 seed is likely the best team in the conference. But 50% of the time someone who is not a number 1 seed makes it to the Super Bowl. This happened as recently as 2021-22, when two #4 seeds played against each other in the Super Bowl. The #1 seed spot does not matter. But it is not dispositive. Side note - Mahomes has shown he can lose at home in the plaoffs.

Allen was brilliant the last three seasons. Then he injured his UCL. Then he had one bad game this year (with a 70% plus completion rate). Now he brilliant again. But now his brilliance is supported by a good oline, a much better running game, and a game plan using more play action. Same brilliant top 2 QB play, with a much better cast around him. -
What are you evaluating with the “eye test”? A subjective judgement of who is the “best qb”? An objective judgement of who is the best passer? or something else?
-
In individual games, there is a high level of correlation between winning and the team with the higher passer rating. Win the passer rating battle, win the game. This reflects both the QB and the defensive efforts. I am not sure any statistic comparing across single games is particularly useful, other than wins/losses
-
Oddly for all the complaints about passer rating, over the course of a season it is pretty effective at identifying the top QBs, and it correlates very well with winning football games.

I specified the last 3 seasons. Which does not include his first or second season. It does include the season the third season where Allen put the team ahead with 13 seconds to go against the Chiefs, with a much a much lesser offensive cast.

Tua: "Loss humbling and much needed by some"...is he talking to Hill?

Random stats, PFF info, Opinions, and more from the Dolphin beatdown
Chaos replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
It does not matter. A punt is as good as a turnover for us. Are expected scoring value does not change much if we start at our 20, our 40, or their 40. Not defending or criticizing the PFF grades. But the Dolphins drove the field with ease for TDs the first two drives, and put up good offensive numbers for the game. The Dolphins had a lot of "plus plays". -
Don't take in personally. I stronly object to the idea that there has been something "wrong" "deficent" or "incomplete" about Allens play the prior three seasons. Allen as been the best QB in the league for several years. This is the first season he has a good oline in front of him, and a much stronger compliment of skill players around him. Allen is not different. The cast around him is different. Allen simply has been given more options on most plays than in the past.

Winning QBs focus blame on themselves when the team loses. Loser QBs draw attention to the failures of others. -
