I mentioned in the games thread yesterday I expected a lot of ‘experts’ to pick Denver despite the Bills being such big favorites and today I’ve seen a lot of the media guys picking Denver, or at least leaning that way.

Orlofsky did have some interesting things to say about why their D matches up well with Buffalo

    Define “a lot of experts”

I read that as you think most experts will choose Denver, which isn’t true. Are there going to be some that choose Denver? Sure, you are very rarely going to see the experts all pick one team in the playoffs.

The only concern I have is their Defense leads the league in sacks AND does a great job of containing QB's in the pocket.

They keep Allen from rolling right,we might have issues.

It’s going to be next to impossible for them to create pressure, keep him from rolling out, AND keep coverage on everybody

Jack did not pop on film year 1 at all. He was mediocre. Joe is tracking. With his ethic, he could be a pro bowl type player some day. Just needs to keep grinding and working hard.

So I’m not saying he can’t/won’t be a pro bowler,  but do you actually think this or do you just really really really hope this could happen? If he had been a 2nd/3rd round pick from Kansas instead of the undrafted local boy would you still think the same thing based off what you have seen?

It would make sense in fairness. Both played Saturday so next Saturday no one has an advantage. Same with Bills, Broncos for Sunday. If you play Ravens, Steelers Sunday, they both get 8 days and Bills, Broncos only get 6 days on Saturday.

But of course, NFL only cares about ratings.

On the flip side of this-neither Denver or Buffalo loses anything if they play Saturday, and if/when Buffalo wins they get an extra day of rest for the divisional round

Does burrow have a winning record the past two years?

Look, I’ve been railing against Burrow all week….for MVP. The guy is definitely a pro bowler this year. Honestly, winning should never be brought into the conversation when people are talking about Herbert. 1 playoff game his entire career so far (yes I know they are playing next week)

Sorrt of.  51 total TDs to 14 turnovers for Burrow.

Brees's best year, he had 47 total TDs and 14 turnovers.

He averaged about 18 turnovers per year in his prime. Averaged.  Some years were atrocious.

Where do you see 51 total touchdowns? I see 46 passing and 2 rushing

Brees was a stat padder and turned the ball over a lot.  He may have had 1 season where he was worthy of supplanting Brady or Manning or Rodgers.

Sounds exactly like Burrow this season 🤷‍♂️

Burrow has some serious weapons on offense in Chase, Higgins and Gesicki, and even Iosivas and Chase Brown.  But if his defense hadn't let him down and the refs didn't screw them against the Chefs, they'd be in the playoffs.

That doesn't make him an MVP candidate though.  I mentioned this before, but Drew Brees routinely threw for over 5,000 yards, but he was never a serious candidate for MVP until the defense around him improved.  Burrow isn't putting up the stats Brees was so he's in the same boat.

The guy's stats HAVE to contribute to the team consistently winning.  Again, Burrow's stats aren't even record breaking, they are just good stats

Going to get flamed here, but in most other years Allen is the runaway MVP. He yet may still win it this year.  This is the best he has ever played.  No player means more to his team than Allen does, even Barkley.  Being the first NFL QB to get 40 TDs 5 years in a row is unreal, but MVP is a single season - regular season award.

Lamar Jackson going for 4000 yards and 900 rushing has never been done before - I know 17 games vs 16 but it is still unprecedented. He has 13 more TD passes than Allen and his TD/INT ratio is ridiculous.  His passer rating is 18 points higher than Allen's. This season is also the best he has ever played.

Burrow leads the league in passing yards and TDs, and has a higher passer rating than Allen.  He has lead his team with one of the worst defenses in the league to a possible playoff spot.  You can make an argument even with how great Jackson has been, Burrow has been the better QB.

Barkley's rushing season is more historic than Allen's.  His season is 8th best all time, and he is one decent carry away from a top 5 all time season.

In any other year Allen is MVP, but in this one year you can make a case he isn't even in the top 3.

Seriously, this Burrow crap needs to stop. Leading the league in passing yards and touchdowns doesn’t mean you’re the MVP of the league. There’s no way you can convince me that someone with half a mind of their own, someone who is not just parroting what they hear on tv/radio, actually thinks Burrow is a serious MVP candidate. You are clearly only looking at stats with absolutely ZERO context whatsoever. The guy isn’t even setting any records, he’s just having a good statistical season.

So clearly all of these amazing stats Burrow has had the Bengals as the 1 seed right?

No? Well then they are the 2 or 3 seed and have won their division, I have to be right there, aren’t I?

No? Oh well then fine, they are at least in the playoffs, because we know these stats translated to his team consistently winning throughout the season….right?

No again?!?! You mean to tell me the Bengals STILL need 2 teams to lose today, on the final day of the season, just for them to make the Playoffs??

Have I gotten my point across because I laid it on pretty thick

The Ravens are averaging the 2nd most yards per play in league history.

Again, Josh will likely win, but it's hard to dismiss the historical season Lamar is having.

I feel bad for Burrow and Saquon.

I don’t-it’s not like the guy is setting records while his team sucks. Drew Brees was routinely throwing for 5,000+ yards and no one was arguing he should’ve been the MVP during those seasons

Maye threw an INT in the end zone, Stephenson fumbled in Bills territory and  Stephenson gave the Bills a TD from his own 10. There’s 14-17 points the Pats literally handed the Bills after leading at halftime. The Pats were outplaying the Bills at that point and would have beaten them like Mac did last year.

Well then golly gee, it’s a good things those things happened

He's not wrong, but if they didn't implode with turnovers they also wouldn't be the Pats.

If my aunt had a weiner she'd be my uncle.

So am I TBH. We know he can play the run, need to see some coverage.

I just think the “well if that didn’t happen” game is ridiculous. What if Shakir doesn’t have the drops, what if Josh throws a much better deep ball and instead of the pass getting intercepted he throws a touchdown….all of a sudden that game is a blowout

I would trade all of that and a 2026 1st for a premier pass rusher.

This is why fans don’t run teams.

Also, aren’t you the guy in the Von Miller thread crushing him because he might play tomorrow to get one more sack? I can’t even imagine the vitriol your posts would have if this mythical premier pass rusher that the Bills would trade thru entire draft for went maybe 2 games without a sack

Tough spot for the Pats to be in. Definitely looking at that first draft pick, but having to say all the right things to not make it look obvious they are throwing the game.

They would have beaten the Bills a couple weeks ago if they hadn’t imploded with turnovers. Now, they are playing against Buffalo’s backups and will need to put the ball on the ground a few more times to get the loss they badly want.

Outside of the games today, and the Lions’ game Sunday, this game has some interesting aspects and I’m looking forward to how it plays out.

I’ll be happy with a Bills win and happy with a Pats win. Truly a win-win situation.

Cool story but no they wouldn’t have

This is the part that worries me the most because of this weekend.  Mike Giardi was on Buffalo Plus this week and flat out said that he knows that there are some voters that don't watch the games and just look at the stats online.  Giving someone a vote that doesn't even watch the games is laughable to me.

You’re misunderstanding what he said. The NFL isn’t giving votes to people who don’t watch any of the games. Let’s not make the NFL and the voters out to be complete idiots. The voters probably don’t watch EVERY game, which honestly is understandable. Which by the way, that’s how it’s always been. I’m willing to bet that the people who vote watch a decent amount of football

I have also been a supporter of not paying RB's, but a true top flight RB should at least be made a fair offer to retain

Cook is on the cusp of potentially being one of those backs IMO. His smoothness as a runner is a thing of beauty, and he is also a very good pass catcher and appears to have fixed his ball security issues

I would make him a fair offer. If he decides he wants to go somewhere else cause a team wants to pay a hefty price for him, then I let him walk and take the compensatory pick to draft another RB

Boy the Giants certainly found this out the hard way, didn’t they?

Gesicki has almost 150 more yards than Kincaid and the same number of TDs.  And their RB Brown has (slightly) more yards rushing and receiving but 6 fewer TDs.

This MVP has taken so many weird turns. We have now reached the point where people feel the need to make sure to downgrade as many Bills as possible
