I was watching this guy (Helmkamp) yesterday on Cover 1  talking about the WR class.. he wasn’t a big fan of BTJ ( one trick pony) … but loved Franklin and Worthy at 28 ..

Was talking about Corley in the second if they go DL in the first … raved about the guy but seemed to be more referencing his toughness and blocking and how he was a “Buffalo guy the fans would love “ but  didn’t discuss his WR skills all that much…

Awesome, another WR whose best attribute is blocking…can we find WRs who catch better than they block?!?!

  2. Any kid who stays for NIL money who is going to be a top pick is thinking very short sided in my opinion. The sooner you get to your 2nd contract in the NFL the better. Most guys in college won’t make anything near what they will make in the NFL on their first contract. You are also running the risk of getting hurt and hurting your draft stock, which will also end up costing you millions. That’s why the whole Caleb Williams might stay (and every guy before and after him who is projected to go #1) is so utterly laughable-it will never happen

  3. So obviously the big topic of discussion here is Douglas, and here’s the conundrum (playing bad scenario here): what if they keep him and he gets hurt? How many threads will be started next season, including people who right now are saying the Bills would be crazy to get rid of him, claiming what a huge mistake it was to keep him? Or what if they do let him go and he balls out with another team? Then we get all of the “I told you so” threads which are always so much fun to see.

Personally, I would be fine either way. He played well so he has earned the chance to stay and play, but also with him being over 30, that $10 million could go to good use

Unless he's a superstar next year and very good the following year, too, Miller will go down as one of the worst free-agent signings in NFL history. $114 million for 8 sacks, to date. Think of what that kind of dough could have bought elsewhere.

He could still turn it around, but at this point, signing Miller was like putting all your retirement money in Blockbuster--in 2004.

There have been PLENTY of deals much worse than the Miller deal. This is just angry Bills talk

frank clark, Clowney and ngakoue all were tagged and traded

My fault I misunderstood, I thought you meant another team just signing a franchise guy.

I also don’t think anyone is willing to trade for him-he’s not worth a first round pick and the contract a team would sign him to. Lots of good young receivers in the draft

  6. So one guy comes out and says there’s drama so that must be true? I’m not saying it can’t be true, but what if Schefter is right? If it turns out to not be true, what are the repercussions for this dude stating wild accusations? Probably nothing because these guys aren’t held to any standards any more.

can’t it just be the team was figured out fell apart? That their first year (who they replaced) just wasn’t very good?

That's surprising honestly...gonna cost them a lot of money for that one. Somewhere in the $20-21 million a year range, and they are already paying Chase. Doesn't seem very smart considering they are in perfect position to draft a stud WR in a loaded draft...perhaps they still do it and let him develop as a #3 before Higgins leaves next year..

Well they aren’t paying Chase yet, he’s still on his rookie contract. Which is why they can afford the franchise tag for Higgins this year. I do think the Bengals will draft a WR at some point, but even if they had let Higgins walk I highly doubt it would’ve been in the first round. They have Burrow’s huge contract and he can’t stay healthy, so I would think protecting him had to be their first priority

wouldn’t you be about the bag? Players have short careers and one injury can ruin the bag and serious money

Right! Players should always 100% be about the money-it’s not their job to make things work within the cap. People who say they wouldn’t chase the money are lying to themselves. It’s such a weird world we live in where so many people bash the people who put the product on the field and protect the big time billionaire owners

  9. Would’ve been more surprising if they didn’t franchise tag him. Most likely will be gone after next season but they get to keep him for one more year before their big salaries get close to kicking in. It will be really interesting to see how much Chase gets when he signs his new deal

The Dolphins are in a similar terrible cap situation like the Bills but don't even have a division title to show for it.

Lot of pressure in south beach to navigate a tough situation and finally break through the AFC East next year. And they might just finally be able to do it since the Bills are likely going to take a big step backward with their own salary cap mess to work through.

So they have a worse cap situation than the Bills and a worse QB that they’re about to pay but they’re in a better position than the Bills for next year? They are cutting one of their better players, another one of their highest paid players will be about for. Good chunk of the year recovering from his injury, it’s possible they lose Wilkins…I don’t see how they are in a better position

  11. Hahahahaha I love the hate in here! If the Bills had signed him, there would’ve been 3 pages of complaining about his problems, doesn’t know how to hold the ball for kicks, blah blah blah. He signs with the Chiefs and all of a sudden the Bills didn’t sign this all world punter 🤦‍♂️

I love this discussion, but I think we have  to brace for the possibility of not taking a WR in round 1.  I don’t know what Beane might be able to pull off to address DT, DE in FA, but I know that the cap situation is bad and, despite what some want to believe, the cap is not completely elastic (meaning you can’t just keep kicking money down the road forever).  At present, the team doesn’t even have enough DL to start, much less have backups.  That is real and, while it is fun to think that the Bills could just score every drive if only they could add Thomas Jr, that isn’t true.  LSU had BOTH Malik Nabors AND Thomas Jr AND Jayden Daniels at QB and they didn’t score every drive against college defenses.  Whether in 1st or 2nd and 3rd, DL needs attention.

So the problem with this thinking is you can say literally every year that a team has needs at OL, DL, secondary…any position. At some point a team has to pull the trigger and get your all world QB top shelf weapons and stop expecting him to always elevate lower level guys. I’m not saying they have to get a WR, but you can’t go the Packers model and never use high picks on weapons for your QB

Chris Jones and LJarius Sneed are both free agents this year and both will require more than $20 million per year contracts so there is that for KC to deal with. None of the Bills FAs are as big of deals

But I agree, there is enough high end talent at WR this year to not get antsy and give up assets. We need to start getting younger and cheaper as a whole and that means having a lot of draft picks and developing them on the roster like the Chiefs have done and the Rams are doing.

    11 minutes ago, TheBeaneBandit said:

Yep. Add to that I believe three starting offensive lineman a linebacker or two and I think a safety are free agents for the Chiefs as well. A lot of that cap space could dry up pretty quickly.

Come on, that’s not how this works around here! Remember, according to some here only the Bills have cap issues, teams like the Chiefs and Bengals never have cap issues, guys to re-sign, everyone will sign with them for cheap. What you guys are saying is complete bull hockey! Get your heads out of your asses and add to the doom and gloom!

I'm 65 and wanted his arse canned after 13 seconds of pure coaching idiocy. But clearly the majority of "partcipation trophy" fans of McD are content to win some reg. season games for the sheer entertainment.  Go figure?....watching this team fail every year in the playoffs hardly screams entertainment. But if you set the bar low you'll never be disappointed.

Haha I’m not sure you could’ve made a more “get off my lawn” statement if you tried!

    Thanks Jurrah.

Jerry Jones forced this on Pegula and Pegs just rolled over for belly scratches.

Now the average fan will be forced out by the prices.

A buddy of mine, RIP Zach, was a 30 year season ticket holder and would have been one of the many who won't be able to afford them for the new place.

So what would your solution have been? Just keep pumping hundreds of millions of dollars into the old stadium? Prices would still increase

Against the Chiefs, in the final drive, he DID need to do more. On 2nd and 3rd downs, he threw incompletions. If Mahomes was our QB in that situation, he would have thrown a completion (or ran for a 1st down like he did in the SB multiple times), kept the drive moving downfield, and either got close enough for a chip shot FG or got the go ahead TD. If you don’t agree with the latter, you’re lying to yourself.

Btw, I’m not a moron, and have been closely watching NFL football for 50+ years, so I have an “educated” opinion. OTOH, regardless of what all these stats say, people who think JA has no faults are blinded by homerism. I understand the latter, but it doesn’t make it right.

On 3rd down yes he could’ve done more, on 2nd down it’s an emphatic NO, he didn’t need to do more. Sure we all see Diggs was open but A) no one knows if he was the first, second, third read and B) if Dawkins holds his block just a half second longer it’s a touchdown

I just hope Allen can do ONE TIME what Mahomes has done practically every single time he’s in a playoff game, especially a Super Bowl - Win. Have the Bills ever won a playoff game in Allen’s era being a dog, home or away? Serious question.

There was a serious moment there in KC in 2022 that Allen did all he could. Played like a true winner. But…. Haven’t had that opportunity again, has he. That could realistically be his only shot to get one against that guy. The uber great, like Mahomes, are great because they don’t give up too many opportunities to get beat.

So in Allen’s achieving moment (a loss) Mahomes gets a FG with 13 secs left, and throws the game winning TD in OT. Mahomes didn’t exactly ***** the bed huh. He kind of ripped the hearts out of the entire city of Buffalo.

Not sure how many examples are needed to finally admit Mahomes is special special, and Allen is just special? I really don’t know. And unless one argues that Mahomes is just more physically gifted that Allen… well then, the mental disparity is even greater, which is where I stand. It’s Mahomes, then it’s Allen, then it’s everyone else. All the other factors like coaching, Kelce, players who drop (which really is hilarious considering the Chiefs lead the league in dropped passes).. fire away. But Allen is the guy that has to beat Mahomes, probably with another head coach (different conversation) and right now the gap between winning and losing against him is widening.

ONLY BRADY (2x) and BURROW HAVE BEATEN MAHOMES IN THE PLAYOFFS. He’s 15-3! And we think Josh has it in him despite never doing it. Nice argument.

Anyone think Mahomes has it easy with where he is and what he’s doing? I don’t. KC is a circus.

Mahomes is other worldly mentally, and Josh isn’t.

But here’s where your thinking is flawed. Josh doesn’t play against Mahomes. So you wrote a very long, thought out statement but ignored the most obvious part

And nor can Kyle. That is the exact point. That is where they are comparable.

It’s amazing the mental gymnastics some people on here do to prop up other coaches (ex:Shanahan) or players (ex: Herbert) while continually putting down the Bills. Especially in this case-getting the job done for most people is winning the Super Bowl. It baffles me that people are arguing that Shanahan is getting the job done according to their own criteria
