Weather Watch 2022, Part IX: Vikings at Bills, Nov. 13th
Simon replied to RiotAct's topic in The Stadium Wall
A 10 degree change in the wind direction could bring the lake effect further North on Sunday than it's currently projected. -
Anybody see replay of Dion's holding penalty
Simon replied to LABILLBACKER's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah, I thought he was off balance and pulled him down with his right hand. It wasn't a horrible penalty; he hid it very well, most refs aren't going to reach for non-egregious flags at that point in a game and they'd been letting them play all day. It was just really ***** luck that probably not only ended up changing the outcome of the game, but led to Allen being injured shortly after. -
Some items for all the wags who have been telling us how awful he is: > Ed Oliver not only led all DLinemen in tackles yesterday, he had twice as many as anybody else up front. - He had more tackles than all the other DT's on the roster combined - The fumble that Epenesa recovered would never have happened without Oliver's play so he also had a hand in a turnover - He also had the hustle play of the day when he sprinted 25 yards downfield on the opposite sideline and saved a 70+ yard TD Going into yesterday Ed Oliver led all Bills DT's in QB hits despite missing 3 1/2 games with injury He's also had multiple sacks taken away due to penalties on other players Just because you don't "notice him" or some talking head fails to mention him, doesn't mean he sucks. It means that if you can't see what he's doing then you don't know what you're looking for. Some folks ought to consider practicing some humility instead of spouting off about things that they don't understand. Yes, it's the same utterly clueless crusader that you think it is

I agree with this 100% and not just because I don't trust Phillips (which I admittedly do not), but I think the Bills coaches are so slavishly inflexible with their rotation that they're hurting themselves at critical moments. Today was a fine example when the Jets got the ball inside their own 5 with about 7:00 left and who comes trotting on the field but Jordan Phillips. 10 seconds after my wife told me to stop grumbling about it, the Jets were on the move. The reason they run that rotation in the first place is so they can have everybody fresh at crunch time, but when crunch time comes around it's time to get your best players out there. Ed Oliver should have been out there to start that series right next to Settle or Jones, as opposed to Phillips who still spends way too much time trying to slip blocks instead of aggressively engaging OLinemen to stone opposing offenses like he should be. Somebody on that staff needs to sit him down and explain to him that if he continues to go out there and play for himself and hang his teammates out to dry, he's going to end up right back in Arizona or some other place that is looking for a glory hound. Guy's got a ton of talent but until he starts playing more like a fighter than a dancer, he's always going to be a liability at key moments.

If you're disagreeing with that guy, you're even more wrong than you usually are.

Thanks, Doctor...

By default, that back judge should have called it a pick so that it would automatically activate a review on a turnover.
-
There was eventually, but do you really trust an official to see it the way you do and overturn his teammate's call? Enough to risk losing one of your second half timeouts, which we ultimately needed to even have a chance to win? That one was close enough that I write it off and move on to the next play.
-
That was one of those plays where the original call on the field was going to stand regardless of what that call was.

Earlier in the year, Mahomes threw at 57% for 260yrds with 1TD and 1 INT in a 20-17 loss against a far worse Colts team. Quit making crap up to add to your already annoying crusade.

Oliver and Settle came in for a couple plays mid-drive when McD yanked Phillips and Jones off the field, but they weren't out there long at all. I don't care who's due on the DLine rotation; Oliver and Settle should have been out there to start that last drive and they weren't. Thanks for doing that. I don't know if they were tired or what, but there was some half-stepping going on out there late.

Can we talk about how 2 teams in a row ran it down our throat...

If you can't see that he's clearly having the best season of his career by far, that is a "you" problem. -

If you watched the game you would know that is a ginormous pile of horseshlt. -

wtf are you watching? Edmunds may have had as many tackles today as the entire 8 man DLine rotation combined. -

That would be a disaster, imo. -

There is nobody on the Bills roster you could replace Taron Johnson with and have a better defense. The problem the last couple weeks hasn't been the nickel, the problem has been Jordan Phillips, Daquon Jones and even Von Miller spending too much time looking to play hero and too little effort playing a complete and physical game. -

You're going to take your nickel off the field, who is currently the most effective and impactful player in the Bills secondary. And who are you going to replace him with for a better result?
