They've looked out of sorts since they stepped on the field to start Week 1. I'm beginning to suspect that Babich was hired more for his personality than his ability. His lack of attention to detail makes me want to take a turn as a fire everybody sort of guy.

Bills Players Grades...If You Need a Laugh..
Simon replied to Rich Stadium Original's topic in The Stadium Wall
Van Demark is the only one I would take issue with. He was mauling people to the whistle in the run game but he was so bad in pass pro I can't believe he'd be graded that high. Epenesa seems a little bit high, but that was certainly his best game of the year so far. -
He's got no chance this year and possibly next as well in that gawdawful organization with that awful roster. My guess that he'll be a good coach eventually is based entirely on the kind of guy he is. I said it would be over the next couple years and that it would only possibly be in NY and I stand by that.

A few random thoughts about the Saints Game - Please share yours as well
Simon replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
If they're slow-rolling the switch to keep Thompson fresh and healthy for the stretch run, I guess I probably wouldn't complain about that strategy. Well, I would but probably shouldn't. -
From my couch the problems would appear to be, in order: LB (particularly the stunningly lost DWilliams), inconsistent rookie DT's and then safety (especially Rapp, who has been gawdawful while Bishops is getting somewhat better).

Shaq Thompson has been working in on some 1st and 3rd downs but imo should be taking all of Williams' snaps, including when they run 4-3 sets after Milano's return. -
Wasn't that a different play where they actually did get called for a 12th man?

Ravens vs Chiefs Game thread (the Bills lamp is lit)
Simon replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall
Apparently Marlon Humphries is also now gone for a couple weeks with the calf issue. They should probably just go ahead and write off the season, trade us Kyle Hamilton and start reloading. -
He's doing exactly what he's being coached to do and doing it very, very well. If you can't see what he's doing that's not a Rousseau problem, that's a you problem. The Bills have never had high sack numbers from their DE's under McDermott, and they likely never will. It isn't because they don't have good players at DE. It isn't because Beane doesn't know what he's doing when to comes to acquiring DL. It's because McDermott wants his guys up front playing responsibly and not losing edges and overrunning QB's and abandoning gap responsibilities. That's just who he is. If you need to break out the bltching stick, you're wasting your time using it on Rousseau or Beane.

There was somebody hustling off but he made it in plenty of time. I got the sense Coach called it out of frustration and to make a point to the stripes as much as anything.

SEPT. 28: Around the NFL, other games.
Simon replied to Ridgewaycynic2013's topic in The Stadium Wall
This is the solution I've always favored as well; just turn off the game clock and go. But man, it could be fraught with peril. What if you have two really bad offenses with a couple vicious defenses, particularly in a relatively meaningless game. That could go on long enough to create the kind of conditions that get people hurt, and for no good reason. I don't think that's something that anybody wants. Maybe set the clock to 20:00 and see if that's shows a tendency toward having more games decided, and if it doesn't then try increasing increments 'til it does? -
Parsons traded to Green Bay, given $188 million contract
Simon replied to Roundybout's topic in The Stadium Wall
If I'm GB I'm less worried about Parsons and more worried about the fact that nobody on the field or sidelines could take advantage of all the doubles the guy was drawing all night. Dallas sold out to make sure the guy didn't have himself a day against them on national TV and yet still nobody else in that front7 was more effective than him. -

If Only They Could Tackle..It's Not Just the Coaching
Simon replied to Rich Stadium Original's topic in The Stadium Wall
Wait, are you saying that you can present an alternate opinion without being an obnoxious jackass and in a way that you will still be respected?! And that being a pariah is primarily about how you act and not about what you think?!?!?! What a stunning concept!!! -

Tough to get a read on this kid. Two years ago I was convinced he was going to be just fine. Then I wasn't. Then I was. Now, it seems to depend on the week. 🤷♂️ -
Agreed that he panicked on the first one, although I doubt he was legitimately worried he was going to need a full set of TO's trailing late. The second one changed the scoreboard and was a good call, imo. The Saints showed them something they hadn't seen and weren't ready for AND they only had 10 guys on the field. That was about to be a successful 2 pt conversion if he doesn't call it and htey ended up getting the stop afterwards. I'll trade a TO for points any time in the game, particularly in the 2nd half.

I thought the first one was unnecessary so maybe you just mixed them up. Although I think McD was pretty comfortable with the fact that he wasn't going to need them to stop the clock trailing late.
