Being a Western Michigan alumni I follow MAC basketball pretty closely. One thing I will say is that Buffalo seems to be peaking at the right time. The MAC is usually a very tightly contested conference so the teams that peak at the end of the year tend to do well in the MAC tourney. As for a possible at large bid for Buffalo consider it a long shot. For them to have any chance they will need to win the next two, get to the MAC championship game, and make a decent showing. Even if that happens I still consider them a long shot for an at large bid. I don't say that out of disrespect, Buffalo is a very good team and they certainly deserve at large consideration. The problem is the selection committees lack of respect for MAC teams. Last year Western Michigan went 23-4, and 15-3 during conference play. All year long ESPN gave them an at large birth in their brackentology section. After such a great season you would think they would be a shoe in for an at large bid, well that wasn't the case. Thankfully for me they won the MAC tournament but had they lost just about every analyst had them getting the shaft. Is it fair? Hell no. But that’s just the way the committee views MAC teams. In any event this years MAC tourney should be very exciting. Parity has taken over the MAC this year even more then usual, and with 4-5 teams standing a chance to get the automatic bid it should make it very interesting.

How Far Has Darius Rucker Fallen?
Mikie2times replied to Alaska Darin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I always thought his last name started with a F -
Not a bad idea for a year, my only concern would be Garcias arm strength. Just look at how many times this past year weak armed QB's struggled in Buffalo.

Since my response was so unreasonable why don't you share with us what a person should do in this situation. The question was what should a "NEIGHBOR" do if somebody else's dog has a barking problem. This thread has some great suggestions in it about controlling a dogs bark. The problem is only the dog owner would find these suggestions useful. Bark collars? Citronella collar/spray? How the hell is this person supposed to use that stuff if its not his dog? The ultrasonic thing sounds interesting, but don't you think this person should at least mention something to his neighbor before he spends any of his own money? If the guy is a reasonable person he may just buy a bark color or another anti barking device. If not then his only other options would be the cops or the ultrasonic thing. The cops probably would be a bad idea and that point, like you said it would be obvious who called them. Personally I would rather talk to the guy myself then call the cops. Then again who knows, maybe I just have exceptionally nice neighbors. So either talk to the guy, call the cops now, or buy the ultrasonic thing. Those are really the only three things you can do.

First and foremost its the owners responsibility to take care of this situation. That said I think a lot of people are just assuming the owner is negligent with his dog. Some dogs are predisposed to certain behaviors more then others. Shepard's dig and bark, Dalmatians are hyper, Labs are great swimmers etc. I'm sure the owner is at least somewhat aware of his dogs barking problems, but I'm also sure its at least a possibility that he doesn't know how to fix it. Just try and talk to the guy about, express your concern over the situation and offer him some possible solutions. If the guy is still a-hole about it then call the cops. They might not be able to do anything about it but it could scare the owner into taking things a little more seriously.

If you're not proud of our Country RIGHT NOW
Mikie2times replied to AKC's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I'm not so sure they can. I'm sure many like myself find it difficult to be patriotic when we so adamantly disagree with the actions being taken. Like I said before, I will always support the troops. To me that support has nothing to do with my patriotism or lack their of. So many people are dieing and for what? AKC posted it was for free elections. Well if that actually held up then yes that would be a legitimate reason, the fact is it won't. Eventually we will withdraw our troops and then what? Iraq will be left in shambles with no significant military and no means to stop the next insurgent from taking power. First we rallied around defending our country, then when we realized their was nothing being threatened. Next we rallied behind Iraq’s freedom and now their is no legitimate way to ensure that for the long term. It's just not worth losing Americans over and it never was. What I'm saying has got beaten to death, but since the elections this MAJOR issue in our society keeps creeping below the headlines. It's frustrating, seems like nobody gives a sh-- anymore. -

First this thread should be in politics, but I digress. Just like most I respect the hell out of the sacrifices the military makes for the greater good. My problems not about the military, it’s about the mission. I'm sorry but what have we done in the last year to defend the right you just spoke of. Free speech? Rights? How have any of America’s actions been remotely close to those goals? If anything the path we have taken has had a negative impact on Americans. I'm just confused, just like many I have friends involved in this. I just don't understand any of it. Sometimes any decision is better then indecision, and while that philosophy may have floated at first it shouldn't anymore. Its like were stuck with our hand in the jar. Everybody knows we shouldn't be there but rather then admit that we just keep insisting its ok. Unfortunately the rest of the world won’t buy into to our sweet talk. At least for Bush the world suffered a major catastrophe in the Tsunami. That bought him at least a couple more months to try and find a legitimate reason for any of this. It’s hard to explain the correct pronunciation online but I'll give it a shot. First drop the G sound, that’s the biggest mistake people make. The word is made of two syllables. Together its sounds like "heero". If you really want to get accurate the h at the beginning almost sounds like it has a g following it. It’s a spitty tongue rolling sound, kind of hard to explain online. All hail Greece

In Michigan people think we don't have accents. I say that’s impossible, everybody has an accent. Take the origin of the English language; I'm pretty sure no group of humans speak English the same way they did back then. Maybe I'm missing the big picture but if nobody speaks English the same way as when it originated wouldn't everybody have an accent? Stupid response I know but I'm drinking so I'm smart. IMO the Michigan accent is very nasally, probably similar to WNY. Then again I'm sure other people would be more qualified to make that comparison then myself.

New NFL policy forces teams to interview at least one minority cheerleading candidate for job openings. Either that or you have the makings of the worlds largest Bukkake half time show.

I have a story like that to. I'm walking up to this party a couple years ago with my Bills hat on. The chick that lives their is obviously wasted and she keeps yelling at me Bills suck, 4 straight super bowls etc. After I got over the initial shock of the situation I ask her what her favorite team was. She conveniently replies with the defending super bowl champion Buccaneers. So this chick won't stop, and it was getting to the point of major annoyance. It was obvious this girl knew nothing about football, and was being so rude to me that I felt the need to call her out. I ask her to name 5 players from the Bucs, I mean after all she has been claiming how she has been a huge Bucs fan for like 10 years. She responds with ONE player, ONE!!!!.....Warren Sapp. I proceed to have a little chuckle and it became obvious she didn't appreciate it. She says fine, you name 5 players from the Bills. I say what year? She says this year. If she didn't stop me at 30 I was going to name every player on the roster and practice squad. She gets so mad she kicks me out of the party. As I'm leaving all I can hear is Bills suck as I walk out the door. What a weirdo.

Your right, and I'm sure in the contracts of these employees smoking was cited as an activity that could cost you your job. No way in hell this holds up
-
I agree, I mean when do you draw the line? I'm a very healthy smoker if their is such a thing. I eat a very regimented diet, work out all the time, and have under 7% body fat. At 22 am I more of a health risk then a 40 year old obese non smoker? I doubt it. So many people have a crutch.... food, boos, smoking etc.... How can you single out only one of those health hazards? Look I know how bad smoking is, and I'm making serious efforts to quit. But what bothers me is the second class treatment people receive because they smoke. Its like I have a choice whether to smoke or not yet the person who's 200 pounds over weight never had a choice when they let themselves get that way. I know this is a cut and dry example, and many people have weight issues that are very difficult to tackle. But it is so annoying to have a obviously unhealthy person preaching to me about my poor decision making. It's understandable that a non smoker would not want to breath my smoke, so I don't B word about restricted smoking areas. But this has nothing to do with that issue. Bottom line is this company went way to far with this

Stupid cool .......I know I gotta quit

I chose just to include Offensive skilled players, to many O-Lineman out their that I have not seen enough of to form an opinion. The players I decided on are based on the the largest gab between the medias view of them and reality. Of course this is my reality so feel free to post your own selections or comments. QB Jake Delhomme- SB last year, great season this year despite major injuries. Rising star RB Curtis Martin- Underrated his whole career RB Domanick Davis- running and receiving threat, back to back huge seasons. WR Muhsin Muhammad- Been good his whole career, been great the last two seasons. Most TD's and yards this season. WR Joe Horn- Top 5 every year, for whatever reason doesn't get top 5 recognition from the media. WR Derrick Mason- Similar to Joe Horn, not flashy but an extremely effective player his whole career. TE Daniel Graham- Quickly becoming Brady's favorite red zone target. One of the better young TE's in the league.

I had very similar problems with my German Shepard and my girlfriend and I were able to make huge strides with his development. So while this maybe a long winded reply it is essential to being able to correct his problem behavior. Dogs are pack animals and you and your girlfriend are part of his pack. In the wild each pack has the alpha, or dominant member, and each other member is then ranked accordingly within the pack based on dominance. In reality your the alpha male of your pack, the question is does your dog realize that or not? In order to find out you simply need to watch the dogs behavior. Does he walk threw doors first? Does he walk a few feet in front of you on the leash?Does he run up the stairs first or does he let you go and follow behind? If he is doing any of this leading type behavior then your dog views himself as the alpha male, and when that is the case you will encounter the types of problems that your experiencing. The reason for this is its the alphas job to protect his pack, so if your dog views himself as the alpha he feels its his job to protect you and your girlfriend. When you walk into the park what is going on in your mind? I ask this because dogs have a uncanny ability to sense their owners emotions even if they are not visibly showing them. Subconsciously your probably nervous at the park, nervous that he might have the outburst he keeps having, or nervous that your dog might put himself in danger by barking up the wrong tree. Well if thats the case your dog senses that nervousness. The problem is he relates that to you being afraid. As the alpha its his job to protect so he naturally becomes very aggressive toward other dogs or people. So how do you go about correcting this behavior? First you need to establish yourself as the alpha in his mind, and in order to do that you need to completely change the way you act around your dog. First of all your dog needs to understand that you are alway in control of him, and that he is not allowed to behave how he wants anymore. Don't let him sniff or interact with people or dogs unless you want him to. Don't let him go to the bathroom, or sniff the ground, or do anything unless that is precisely what you want. Constantly enforce good behavior with positive reinforcement, but more importantly ALWAYS punish him if he does something that you don't want him to do. NEVER let your dog lead, not threw doors, stairs, or on the leash. You need to establish yourself as the dominant one and thats a difficult proposition when your dog already believes himself to be just that. Here is a couple quick fixes that should help to mask the problem as you establish dominance. Relax as much as you possibly can at the park, remember if the dog senses any nervousness he will go into protective mode. Another thing you can do is incorporate another dog into your walks at the park. If you know of any other dogs bring them over before you leave to the park. Socialize your dog and the other dog and then take them both to the park. This will help to calm his nerves, distract him, and also show him that other dogs at the park are not a threat to his pack. Bottom line though is you need to establish dominance with him....Good luck

What song rocks u the hardest?
Mikie2times replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I listed Welcome to the Jungle as my GNR song but like you said a few of those GNR songs are almost interchangeable for their rocking ability. Its difficult to single out just one of those songs as rocking more then the others. The same goes for Metallica and many of the other bands being thrown around. -
