  1. Arizona would be crazy not to trade down and let someone overpay for McCarthy.  They would get a very valuable asset in return and still get a top WR. Same may gor for Chargers. If they are ok with an OT they can drop a few spots say a swap with the Bears. Bears get a WR to go with Williams and Chargers still get an OT.

So much intrigue with all these QBs at the top. And I think at least one team will reach for another QB in the first round.

  2. If Nabors is still on the board at 12 or 13 I think this would be the move to make.

It can happen if a few things occur. All 4 QBs are taken by pick 11 with the Giants beating out Minnesota for McCarthy. Then Bowers is a top 10 pick by Jets and Chargers take OT instead of WR.  Titans will go OT or CB. This leaves the Bears with the choice of Nabors or Odunze.  Minnesota already has two good WRs and probably goes OL or DB.

Lots of assumptions there but all are reasonable.  My biggest concern is the Chargers and what Harbaugh will do. I think he gets an OT to protect Herbert In a deep WR draft and gets a WR in round two.

Both Denver and Raiders need a QB but both Nix and Penix should be still available at 28. Nobody else in between really needs a QB. Maybe Pittsburgh but don't see them taking a QB.

Denver and Raiders are both in need of roster overhaul and needs picks.

#28, # 60 and next years #1 should be enough to get to 12 or 13. This leaves two seconds for next year.

Excuse me? Did you not notice all the guys under contract let go and the free agents that signed elsewhere?

There are only 28 players left from last season.  There are a lot of holes to fill.

Bills have 49 guys under contract now. 48 really when you consider they have two punters on the team.

They lost starters at safety x 2, wr x2, edge, and center. Every other starter returned and they get Milano back from injury. They already filled one of the WR spots and 1 safety spot in FA. They filled Center and 1 safety spot internally.  They signed a few special teams level guys and some guys like Collins that will be long shots to make the final 53.

They absolutely need a starter at WR. They need an edge that will play significant snaps and hopefully will be better than AJE. They need a backup RB, a rotational DT, and a safety #3. I don't care much about the position but they also need a punter returner. They probably will add another WR or a CB that has some return ability late in the draft.

Also they will have a little more FA money after June 1st for a couple more depth guys.

  4. Happens all the time to me.

Saw 2 guys wearing Bills hats and Yankees jerseys at the Guardians game last week.

Saw two in London, two in Milan, and even a guy wearing a Josh Allen jersey in San Marino ( an independent city state inside of Italy - not Dan Marino's house).

Go Bills and fist pump is usually all I do

I don't think they have a shot to get a starting edge this year in the draft unless one of the top 3 and maybe Chop falls in round 1. My three round 2 grades are all 3-4 OLBs.

I wouldn't force it. If I have to live with a timeshare of a washed Von and AJE for a year then so be it. You can't make someone the answer just by overdrafting them.

Agree. Much rather draft edge in round 2.

My distaste for AJE is well documented.  I think the corpse of Von will rise and have 9 sacks this year. AJE will have 3 in the first 6 weeks and then disappear again.

Only 1 rookie was in the top 30 WRs in yards last year.  Thinking we can get a Diggs replacement for 2024 with a rookie is extremely wishful thinking.  The second tier WRs, IMO, are fine as part of the fill-in with Samuel to replace G Davis, but not Diggs.

I just still can't believe Beane is going to do a rebuild/reset, smack in the middle of Josh's prime.  I think all of Beane's talk about we're fine at WR is an attempt to keep expectations low.

Oh I see what you mean now.

Agree. No WR even the top 3 guys would match what Diggs produced.

My thought is you get a guy or two and hope the offense is more diverse with Kincaid, Cook, Knox, and Samuel getting lots of opportunities.

Are you advocating trading draft pick for a veteran?

FYI I don't believe anything Beane says. The only truthful statement he made was the Bills are worse without Diggs. There is no way he believes the WR group is ok.

Honestly if he drafted 3 WR it would be less shocking than if he takes an edge in round 1.

I have a hard time coming to terms with the on-paper downgrade at WR from last year that we would have with 2 second tier rookies penciled in for large roles.  It would signify to me a rebuild/reset year.  Generally the draft had been considered replenishment for the future - not filling immediate needs.

The idea of a second tier WR being the Diggs replacement isn't right.  Either a big 3 as Diggs replacement with a FA WR (OBJ/M Thomas) or a trade for a vet WR.  I think J Jeff/Aiyuk/Higgins are too expensive ($ + draft capital) but there are others - D Metcalf/C Godwin/DHop/DJ Moore.

3 of the top 6 rookie pass catchers from 2023 were taken after the first round. One of the six was a TE. So only 2 of top six were first round and both were taken after pick 20.  Diggs as you know was a 4th round pick.

After the top 3 guys in this draft, the next ten probably have a good a chance as any to succeed.

This is maybe the worst and least informed mock draft I can remember to have ever read in any year.  I feel like this guy stole time from my life I can't get back.

Agree this mock is as bad as the mock and  real drafts of Mike Mayock.

  9. I have no issue with them drafting an edge if all the WR with a first round grade are gone, but Kneeland wasn't even first team in the MAC.  No freaking way.

If they don't get a star WR in the first round, then I would prefer they go volume in the second and take two WRs.

In this mock Nabers is still around for the Raiders pick at 13 - that would have to be tempting for Beane.  Might be in the possible trade range for a premier WR1.

Nabers at 13 is worth giving up 2025 #1

  11. OMG I would love to see the board explode if this went down.

    https://www.nfl.com/news/seven-round-2024-nfl-mock-draft-round-4

Small school edge in round 1 who had 4.5 sacks in the MAC, while Cinci and KC both add WRs, Miami adds an OT, and Colts add a generational TE.

Blocking WR and Robert Woods clone in round 2 and passing on Franklin

    Then DT and S

    No trades up or down

Standing pat and taking another smurf blocking WR and 3 defenders with the top four picks.... oh this place would melt down

  12. Well done. Excellent analysis.

One question, do you think McCarthy is a top 5 QB talent? Or are you just saying he will get picked there as an extreme over reach. This guy averaged 22 passes pee game in college. He is a game manager with good accuracy. Ok but not elite size. Ok but not very good speed.  Decent arm.

Just curious if you think he is a top 5 talent?

  13. I thought they were until they traded Diggs.

Poyer and Hyde were not difference makers last year. I have no concerns moving on from them.  Milano will be back. Getting DQ to return and perhaps a resurgent Miller should be enough on defense.  Rousseau is in a contract year so he is going to ball out.  Douglas was playing at a level even better than White before his ACL.  He is a steal and I still have hopes for Elam.

My concern is the offense. Yeah Diggs play fell off quite a bit but he still caught over a 100 balls.  They have no one that can get deep now.  Teams can sit on short zones with a single high safety and there will be little place to go with the ball.  Unless you play a team like Dallas that can't stop the run they will really struggle.  Kincaid needs to continue to develop but I don't see him in year 2 being Kelce and being able to carry the offense.

All that can change in ten days.  I don't believe a word Beane says.  He lies and twists the truth at every PC.  There is no way he thinks they can win with this group of WR.  If he really does then we are truly screwed.  But I believe he will draft not one but two WR.  No way he doesn't get Allen more weapons.

As always our rate limiting step will be coaching....

  14. No matter how the McDermott apologists want to spin it, the playoff failures have almost entirely been poor defensive play. Texans and all KC games the defense choked or never even showed up to play. Credit the D for the Ravens win no doubt about that. Colts win was even worse coaching by Reich. Nobody showed for the Bengals.

Allen and the offense has carried McDermott.

Hope he proves me wrong, but if they don't make the SuperBowl this year McDermott has to go!

show me an elite level head coach who did it without an elite level QB

    don't bother looking

the hoodie should have swallowed his pride and rode brady til his arm fell off. the bigger mistake was thinking you could do it without replacing him with an elite level QB.....thats where his arrogance cost em

Coughlin won two SuperBowls with the lesser Manning who was a great playoff QB but far from elite.

Harbaugh took Kaepernick to a NFC Championship and SuperBowl

Doug Pederson won a SuperBowl with a scrap heap QB

I'd take both of them over McDermott

Unless you know you are going in the first 3 rounds, I think this is smart for the players.  They get paid, their education, and learn more about their NFL skillset and see if they would improve their stock.  Worst case scenario, they get their full degree, get paid, and won't be in trouble financially if they don't get drafted

Excellent points. My guess is most of these guys are marginal NFL talents. Like you said they get paid, they get health care, and they graduate. All good things.

  17. Drafting two WR with first three picks is perfectly fine with me. Or using one of the picks to aquire a guy in a trade is fine as well.

Get an edge with the other pick and a safety early on day 3.

I'd be fine if they traded multiple day 3 picks to get back into the third round.

There is probably only 4-5 roster spots up for grabs at this point. 6 if you add another punter.  2 WR, Edge, S, CB  and P. You can trade all the other picks away becuase they either aren't making the team or you can find a LB or CB in UDFA to play Teams.

I'm honestly starting to really come around on the Green Bay method for our Offense.  Especially with Kincaid set to take on a bigger role moving forward.

Still think we need two above average receivers added to this roster, but I'm not as sold that one of them needs to be a bona fide WR1.

Can you explain what the Green Bay Method is?

And if it is as ineffective as the rhythm method I want no part of it....
