  1. But - his "metrics" are wonderful even if he can't make plays???
  2. THANK YOU for the intelligent and informative replies. I have coached teams (baseball) for many years. I KNOW you can't win games with players that have just great metrics. A guy that hits a HR every few games but is a liability in the field may have wonderful metrics. Winning games is a statistic that can be measured. I see the phrase "great metrics" for a player that doesn't have great statistics as a prop.
  3. A lot of people seem to make excuses for the LACK OF PERFORMANCE of individual Bill's players. Ed Oliver doesn't get sacks or make big plays. Yet, his metrics for causing disruption on the opponents OL is high? Edmunds has great metrics for covering receivers but he has yet to make an impact in games. Trent Murphy & Star are similar examples. We keep waiting for Josh to take over a game with all his great metrics! KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) are much different from metrics. Literally anything, as long as you can count it, can be a metric. The problem is that a metric doesn’t actually do much for you. It doesn’t give you a true indicator of how someone is performing. It’s just a number and not and indicator of performance. That number can be divided or multiplied by anything to support a pre determined inferential statistic. If a player is recording sacks, making tackles, throwing for touchdowns or making FG’s that’s a performance level that counts and can be measured!.
  4. Over 11 seasons Matt Stafford has passed for over 40,000+ yards with a completion percentage at 62.4%. He's led the Lions to 4 winning seasons and 3 play-off appearances. If Josh Allen has similar stats in his career as a Buffalo Bill what would your expectations be for the team??
  5. I think we're already all in for 2019! The key is Josh's play and that's it!
  6. of course! after going 6-10 last year with so many blow-out loses this is great!
  7. A supposedly great draft, the same for free agent pick-ups etc., etc., etc. We're a better overall team ! A great defense. All is wonderful ! But, what it's all about is a 23 year old QB. Can he be the team leader? I don't see it! He's immature. He looks it, acts it and it shows on the field. Can he throw more TD's than Interceptions? I wouldn't bet on it based on his history! A winning NFL QB can't have a 52.8 completion %. Can he do much, much better? He's a nice kid but can he ever be the MAN? Why do all of the major NFL polls predict the Bills will finish 23-25 out of 32 teams??? Is it because of Cole Beasley, John Brown, Ed Oliver, Tremaine Edwards, Mitch Morse or Tre White? The days of the 4-5 year re-build are way, way over. Players demand trades and new contracts quickly! Two (2) years is a reasonable re-build time now IF YOU HAVE THE QUARTERBACK !! DO WE HAVE HIM?
  8. 2019 Injured Reserve Cap Cap breakdowns for players currently on injured reserve. denotes a player designated to return. All count against the team's salary cap. LaAdrian Waddle RT $1,500,000 0.75 Senorise Perry RB $538,000 0.27 Vosean Joseph LB $458,324 0.23 Jason Croom TE $395,000 0.20 Mike Love DE $393,000 0.20 Garrett McGhin T $378,000 0.19
  9. I agree with your view. He's made very little impact, especially against the Detroit starters. I don't think he can out muscle anyone even in pre-season!
  10. I could really care less if they draft this player - really. I just see how the Bills "process" makes this sense for the overall good of the team That's all!
  11. I think this FO will do as you say!!! Maybe some big surprises???
  12. Is that still going on? With the Pegula's daughter? I'm surprised that is common knowledge!
  13. I apologize for the name spelling mistake! I was just so excited about this pick!!!! We can find a nice OT in Round #2. Is a 1st Round DT going to really make the D that much better in his rookie year? An Edge rusher is needed but there are plenty of steals in the 3rd and 4th Rounds for that specialty position. Newly signed TE Kroft has just 67 career receptions over 4 years. His Dead Cap for 2020 is a very manageable $1.6 mil. Jason Croom has just 22 career receptions and is being paid $500,000/season. He's an URFA next year. The BILLS need a great - not good - TIGHT END! GO BILLS!!!
  14. NO injury history, played 4 full years at Ohio State, under-rated as a 'star' in the draft, 4.31 speed that made draft-nicks think he's one dimensional and also has played special teams exceptionally well!
  15. Agreed! Why not at that pint in the draft and the upgraded state of our roster!!!
  16. Other than Murray none of these guys are really deserving of a 1st Round NFL draft pick! I don't think ANY of them would have been close to last year's class!
  17. I think as of Thursday night it won't matter - he'll be headed to the 49er's!!
  18. I know enough that if the Bills do sign his 5th year option by May 3rd he'll get around $11mil in 2020 (avg salary for top 25 DE's). That's top $ for an established edge rusher which he hasn't proven to be!!! We'll just to see what the BILLS THINK - not you or me! IF the Bills draft an edge rusher - - -
  19. WHAT are you talking about?? They need to sign him by May 3rd of this year for the 5th year option to take hold!!! He'll get a big salary increase also!! They have to sign him by May 3rd to that option - - no pressure???
  20. Wow - he's played in 35 games and has a total of 42 solo tackles. Every time he makes a play the fans think "maybe he is coming along" !! He runs stiff in his hips and will never be a big time edge rusher.
  21. The why haven't they re-signed him to make sure he doesn't walk away? After 4 years of watching him play they must have a pretty good feel for what he's all about - right?
  22. Because he isn't that good and he can walk next year for zero compensation - that's why!
  23. I look at DEAD CAP as the major factor in a team’s future. The cash the team has to give up if they trade or cut a player. Keep the DEAD CAP under control and re-tooling a team on a regular basis isn’t a crisis. Examples of our GM's maneuvers for this season are: 1 --- Getting Shady, with his $9 mil Cap Hit, to a very reasonable $2.6 mil DEAD CAP number. NO new 2 year contract offered! Last year the DEAD CAP was $11.5 mil and there was no way we could trade him. Now, at age 31, he could easily be dealt for a medium round pick if the Bills feel he’s on the down side of his great career. LeSean is an Unrestricted Free Agent after this season!! --- 2 --- Not signing Shaq Lawson for a 5th year and with a DEAD CAP of $3.2 mil he would cost the Bills just $1.8 mil in a trade or by releasing him outright. I can’t image a #1 pick isn’t worth a 6th or 7th pick to someone??? Shaq is an Unrestricted Free Agent in 2020. 3 --- Russell Bodine at Center was a mistake! His DEAD CAP is down to $500,000. Why keep him around? The original contract was great so we could let him walk! 4 --- IF we keep Patrick DiMarco at FB he will earn $2.2 mil this year. His DEAD CAP was $3.4 mil in 2017 but is now a reasonable $1 mil. Can a young player with more skills do the same job?? Nice job Mr. Beane!
