  1. It is the same narrative at Buffalo as it was at Wyoming. Josh will make some mistakes early in the contest. Josh's overall stats won't be terribly impressive. But when the game is on the line in the second half, he comes to play and flat out makes plays. Not to mention the way he is able to fire up teammates on both sides of the ball. The debate will never end and he will always have his detractors but Josh Allen is one dude that everyone would love to have on their team.
  2. After having watched every college home game during Josh Allen's career, i was extremely disappointed on draft night that the Broncos decided to forego the most physically gifted QB I had ever seen since John Elway. I didn't think that journeyman Case Keenum was the long term solution for the Broncos at QB. I had tears in my eyes knowing that the Broncos let the guy that had more heart than I had ever seen on the football field slip through their grasp and that I would not longer be able to watch him live on a weekly a basis. My opinion has not changed one bit. But...I get so many Bills fans that come talk to me on the ski slopes about the Bills while I am wearing my Blue and White #17 Bills jersey! Now, I don't bother watching the Broncos games because I already know the outcome and tune into the Bills games so that I can continue to be inspired. Stats are for losers. Give me Josh Allen over all the others in last year's draft!
  3. For those that still haven’t figured it out, stats are for losers! For those that like winners, it’s pretty simple...Allen competes and wins games!
  4. The Bills don't need a top 3 pick. They need multiple 1st and 2nd round picks to build a competent offensive line. If Bills can get a top pick and trade down for multiple picks that would be ideal.
  5. The current line cant sustain their blocks and the receivers can't catch making the drop back passing game dangerous and ineffective. To neutralize this, I would wait for Josh Allen to come back and: (1) roll Allen out often on passing downs because he is a more accurate passer on the run than in the pocket (strange but true); (2) run a lot of read-option and let Allen and McCoy generate some yards on their feet; (3) every other play should be a run pass option to mitigate teams from loading the box to stop the run. Additionally, this offense would not be a quick score offense and would be based heavily on execution. Accordingly, sure handed receivers are an absolute necessity for such a scheme because zero yard plays would make 1st down conversions very difficult. I would bench Kelvin Benjamin and pick up possession guy(s) like Tanner Gentry. I'm sure I will get blasted with this unconventional thought approach and how it wont work in the NFL. I can only speak from what I see with the current Bills team and the ways to neutralize the shortcomings.
  6. This is possible as Allen could get hurt but that is the risk with a competitor like that. That said, the Bills front office is certainly making the right move to bring in a veteran to help Allen along as he is about as raw as they come to be a rookie starting in the NFL.
  7. ?? I would love for the Bills to beat the Colts and sweep the Jets but I think that is some wishful thinking. The Jets ran all over a pretty good run defense today. Josh Allen will continue to get better every game but he is a rookie with a huge learning curve. I actually wouldn't be surprised for the Bills to pull out a win against the Patriots and lose a couple of head scratchers. There will be ups and downs this year. Playoffs is wishful thinking but 8 wins is definitely in the realm of possibility IMO.
  8. My Solutions for the offensive side of the ball this year: 1) Get Incognito on psych meds and see if he can regain coherent thinking to come back and play. 2) Bring in Karlos Williams and other FA running backs for a workout. Preferably one that can pick up a block and catch passes out of the backfield. 3) Immediately sign Tanner Gentry off the Bears practice squad. 4) Spend all of the high draft picks on offense linemen in April.
  9. If you were actually a Bills fan, why would you create such a ridiculous name and actively root for such a circumstance? It makes no sense unless you have some real issues that go far beyond football. I can't believe all of the negative towards Josh Allen. Very surprising. Here is a gifted competitor that is in his 3rd career game coming from the Mountain West Conference and being put on a team with relatively poor offensive help. Expecting him to light up the opposing defense every week is beyond unrealistic. Frankly, I think he did ok against the Packers at Lambeau given the circumstances. He will get better, there is no doubt about that. From where he was when I saw him in his first college career start until now, he has made tremendous leaps and bounds. Buffalo found its Jim Kelly franchise quarterback replacement. Now it just needs to have patience and build an offense around him to give him the tools to be successful.
  10. As a fan of the Wyoming Cowboys, we choose to self medicate with a bottle of whiskey. Let downs are something we are all too accustomed with. Well...you know they say it sucks to be a C...S...U... Ram ? That is a true statement! How can you not root for a guy that will literally bleed for his team. Sorry Bills fans, Allen is not going to magically start sliding. In his first start ever in the 2015 season he tried to bowl over a linebacker in the first quarter (and was successful) but broke his collarbone and was out for the season and redshirted. It isn't in his nature to slide and frankly that is what we Wyoming fans really came to love. When you are a Cowboy state, toughness is celebrated.
  11. Thought I’d let you all know how many Bills fans you all are gaining in Wyoming. The local over the air CBS station for Cheyenne and Laramie just announced today that it will be changing its broadcast next Sunday to show the Bills-Packers game.
  12. That's certainly a reasonable opinion and is the thinking that allows these 'diamond in the rough' type players to exist. He certainly does not have the game breaking speed that you would usually want to draft a guy out of Wyoming at the WR position. The last receiver drafted from Wyoming a few years ago, Robert Herron, certainly had world class speed but he couldn't hold on to the ball, had a case of the drops and flamed out in less than 6 months. On paper, I would have rather had Herron. Watching the 2 guys actually play, I would rather have Gentry in a landslide. The fact of the matter is that Gentry is still hanging around long after many of those guys in his same draft class that were drafted are long out of the league. There is a reason for that as well.
  13. Actually there is only one 4 year college in Wyoming (the University of Wyoming) and no professional teams to speak of. We don't have many people in Wyoming but the overwhelming majority are Wyoming Cowboys fans. It is the one state where being a fan of the college football team and having pride in the state are synonymous (in fact they both share the same trademarked logo).
  14. Another moment that speaks to the competitor he is! This is my recollection. It was about -12 degrees with the windchill in Laramie for a game against San Diego State in maybe the coldest game I have been to (I know you Bills' fans are used to the cold but that was really cold). I just decided to wear my ski clothes to the game. A back and forth battle. Late in the game (I believe 4th qtr), Wyoming has the ball in their own end and trailing. I was actually standing behind the end zone at that point. I believe that it was 3rd down but it may have been 2nd down. The play breaks down with one heck of a pash rush. Allen scrambles around and then makes a mistake throwing the ball back across the field trying to make something out of nothing. SDSU picks the ball. Allen comes charging full steam ahead and it is Allen standing between SDSU's cornerback and the roughly 10 yards to the endzone. Allen takes a great angle and lowers the shoulder for a booming hit and the SDSU player loses the ball and is sent flailing out of bounds. The ball stays in bounds and Wyoming recovers for a first down Wyoming! Wyoming would go on to lose the game but wow what a game and wow what a hit by the QB.
  15. I’ve only recently come here so have no idea to the extent Gentry has been discussed. I can only speak from my personal knowledge and what I have seen of the Bills through the pre-season and early season games. I can only speak of actually watching Allen slinging the ball to Gentry for hours on those ‘hot’ 70 degree Laramie summer days. I can only speak of a poor Wyoming line causing Josh to run for his life and throwing it up for Gentry to go up and come down with. That’s my perspective and I’m sure it may be a little biased but you pay Gentry a lot less than Kelvin Benjamin and I can pretty much guarantee he would have caught those balls that Benjamin couldn’t hold on to. Most receivers are not accustomed to the Allen fastball because very very few receivers have had sufficient opportunity to catch them. Gentry has and has proven he can reliably catch them.
  16. Then again. Gentry played at little Wyoming and didn’t face any ‘real’ competition so he must not be any good and will absolutely be a bust when he faces ‘real’ competition. You may have seen that argument made before too.
  17. He isn’t a rookie. This is Gentry’s 2nd year in the league. There is a reason Allen’s stats dropped off significantly from 2016 to 2017 in college. Kenny Britt is the last guy Josh Allen needs to be successful. I haven’t followed the Bills until this year but drops appear to be a serious issue. Kenny Britt is king of the all world talent but can’t actually catch the ball. Gentry catches Allen’s rockets plain and simple. Don’t see a lot of guys currently on the Bills roster that I can say the same thing about. My two cents without having watched those guys at training camp, etc.
  18. Gentry is on the practice squad and can be signed by any team that will add him to their roster.
  19. I believe Gentry led the Bears in catches and receiving yards in the preseason. He has proven at least that he belongs on an NFL field IMO.
  20. In my opinion the Bills need a sure handed receiver that Allen trusts with his fastballs. Solution: Sign Tanner Gentry off the Bears practice squad. The guy isn’t blazing fast but catches everything. I call him a taller Wes Welker. Josh Allen and Tanner Gentry spent their summers together in Laramie running routes and playing catch on a daily basis. They have an amazing rapport. Gentry rarely (if ever) dropped an on target Allen pass. Bills should act quickly. Anthony Miller was hurt today for the Bears and Gentry is a possible signee to the active roster.
  21. Granderson has been great and is super athletic at DE but he has struggled a bit getting off blocks this year. It’s been puzzling. He might be available in the 5th round. The better pro prospect on the DLine is actually Ghaifan in my opinion. He is a junior that I’m afraid may declare early this year. Honestly at this point I’d probably pull for the Bills over the Broncos. Broncos needed a QB and had the chance to take Allen. I honestly thought that Elway didn’t take Allen because he saw a lot of himself in him and didn’t want any other QB to interfere with his legacy.
  22. I wouldn't compare him to Brady personally. Brady usually makes the intelligent play and tries to minimize risks. Brady can seemingly put the ball wherever he wants. Josh Allen throws caution to the wind and will try and make the impossible play...and you know what, he does fail sometimes turning into an INT but then he will come back and make the impossible possible with a run for his life scramble and 65 yard heave downfield across his body to the receiver for a touchdown.
  23. I will give you one to start. Wyoming versus Northern Illinois to open the 2016 season at War Memorial Stadium in Laramie for a night game. Rare lengthy rain storm comes through Laramie game was slated to start at about 8 PM but ends up starting around 11:00 PM or so. On paper, Northern Illinois was the more talented team. Back and forth battle with Josh Allen getting some long runs to get Wyoming points in this first half shootout. Northern Illinois makes some adjustments at half and the game is tied and headed to overtime at about 1:45 AM or so. Wyoming scores in the first OT and UNI matches it. Wyoming defense comes up with a stop in the 2nd OT. Wyoming drives the ball down and it is 3rd down with Wyoming needing a FG to win but with a freshman kicker that was anything but consistent. Wyoming's line can't block anything and Allen runs for his life to the right. I am screaming for him to throw the ball away to try for a FG but he inexplicably jukes 2 defenders and cuts back all the way to the left side of the field and into the endzone to win the game at about 3:00 AM. Insanity erupts and everyone including the players and fans run to the end zone to pile on top of Allen. He didn't want to leave the game to chance on a field goal he wanted to win the damn game and he did it!
  24. Your uncle Conrad was at my house a few years ago for a poker game/bachelor party! I wasn't around to follow him when he played for Wyoming but he was a lot of fun to play poker with and to talk to. Your thoughts are spot on with Josh Allen and how I feel about him. Never seen a more physically gifted and bigger competitor at QB in my life! (John Elway is 2nd for me) He will make mistakes and throw bad interceptions but he will do everything in his power to get his team to win the game. Yep, stats are for losers. Give me Josh Allen.
