I believe the DA just got the case recently and is making their prosecution decision. If everything reported is true, I can’t see how he/she could justify not prosecuting. It seems like the girl followed every possible channel to report and did it timely. Apparently a rape investigation takes 9+ months (something I never knew).

If everything mentioned in that article (public sex, rape kit, reported allegations the next day, witnesses) then I can’t see how the DA could justify not charging Araiza in this. Seems like as open and shut as rape cases can get.

I don’t understand why this hasn’t already been charged? Is a 9 month criminal investigation common? It seems unnecessarily long.

Precisely what my recommendation has been for years. Such a simple solution I have no idea why it was never brought up. Just keep interest rates at zero while resuming payments. The government still gets the money it loaned out, payments stay affordable without exorbitant interest rates, and balances don’t balloon to unsustainable rates if you lose your job and require a forbearance.

I still feel like there is too large of an imbalance between home seekers and available homes to cause a drop that large. But we will see.

They definitely need to start allowing federal borrowers to refinance to lower prevailing rates at least a few times over the course of their 20 year loans.

As many people have said, what does this do? It does absolutely nothing to stop the problem, which is the runaway cost of tuition at any school. Even state schools are getting out of hand. UB is around 10k per year now and that’s sure to rise rapidly. 10k per year means the potential of 40k in debt after your undergrad. And that’s at a state school. Reduce the amount of loans available to all but the poorest students and see how quickly that school price comes down. Tie the loans into job marketability where the school foots the bill if they misrepresent job prospects. Do something, but not this. At least not debt cancellation alone. If it was accompanied by any sort of plan to fix the actual issue then fine. But this is just straight pandering to voters by buying them off, which was illegal the last time I checked. A far better option that I’ve been saying for years is just set all student loans at 0%. That way the students take what they need, pay back what they take, and don’t have to pay exorbitant amounts of interest.

The GM basically telling Drake that he should be thankful for a personal phone call sounds more like DISrespect to me. Doesn’t the GM meet with every player being cut? I thought that was the thing. You get the call to meet with the GM and he tells you that you are cut. How does this GM usually cut guys? Via text?
