  1. If you could only upgrade one group, would it be better to upgrade O-line or receivers? I would say O-line because Allen can work with the receivers. If O-line could protect long enough for routes to develop or open holes for backs, that would go a long ways. Allen is going to make everyone around him better. I really think he works best with fast receivers but they need at least a year with Allen to adjust to the velocity of his throws.
  2. So he can be called trash and be completely lambasted by everyone but he can’t talk back? He’s been told he sucked his whole life and look where he is now. Talk away buddy. And if he busts, well I guess they’ll be right and that will shut him up. He is completely respectful off the field and never has a discouraging word to say outside of the lines, but inside, that’s his field and he is trying to own it. Head games are real.
  3. If Allen can run for 100+, the Dolphins will have to put a spy on him which is really going to open the field even more. If they drop the spy then the running lanes open back up.
  4. Keep the playbook wide open because when Allen is back there running around is when he is most dangerous. He is used to playing behind a bad line, he's been doing it his whole career. He'll be back there running for his life flinging lasers. lol
  5. The preseason will go away as soon as colleges have to trim down to a 53 man roster. There are a lot of 6th-7th rounders and UDFA who need those games to prove they can play.
  6. They have quit on plays like that their whole life. They’ve probably never played with a QB that could scramble and still overthrow them. It takes time to break bad habits. Same with Allen, he has typically been able to get away with some boneheaded plays because he hasn’t played against a lot of great defenders. Give them time, they’ve only been practicing together for a few weeks.
  7. That was perfect coverage by the DB too. There is nothing he could have done different. Perfectly placed ball, perfect catch, better luck next time DB.
  8. The completion percentage for deep balls is so low. A good play action 30 yard crossing route, where the safety has been cleared out is so much easier and has much higher higher completion percentage. How exciting would it be for a RB to know that the D can no longer stack the box. Once he gets through the first line, there is no one there.
  9. I would say pass on the WRs and get offensive linemen. Give Allen some time in the pocket because he can throw it anywhere on the field. If a defense has to worry about a great RB, a moble QB and defend the entire field, there are going to be some huge holes 25-30 yards downfield. I know 60 yard bombs get cheeks out of seats but so do 2 30 yard bombs with YAC.
  10. Wyoming is not out of their class in the MWC. It was when they played Oregon, Nebraska, and Iowa. When you take the Power 5 teams that Wyoming played out of the equation, Allen was very successful and won a lot of games just because of his will power. When Allen didn’t play the last couple of games, even with the conferences best defense, they still lost to San Jose State, who hadn’t won a game all year. Without Allen, Wyoming would have lost every game last year. The defense was great, but can’t win if the offense can’t score touchdowns.
  11. I never said it was because he was from Wyoming. What I’m saying is he has never had the chance to play with a lot of talent surrounding him. Do you suppose that if he had played in a power 5 with real receivers and an offensive line that didn’t resemble a colander he might have had a better completion percentage? When he has time to stand in the pocket, he can be lethal and the entire field is his playground. All I’m really trying to say is he has a lot of haters because he’s always been in less than ideal situations. Wentz was absolutely able to dominate at NDSU, but that team was already world beaters. The year before Allen came to Wyoming they were 2-10. If you had put Allen at NDSU would he have dominated too? Don’t know and we never will, can he dominate in the NFL with good coaching and talent that is on par with the rest of the league? Maybe. He just needs the chance to show it.
  12. The crazy thing about this whole Allen story is, Firebough knew what they had in Allen and they couldn’t give him away. He fell into Wyoming’s lap after their first choice got a P5 offer. Everybody crapped all over him the second Mel Kiper mentioned his name. The thought was he could never succeed in the NFL because he didn’t play for a power conference. Wyoming knew what they had though. The Bills fans now see what he is and can become but most people still think he is trash. He’s just going to have to prove himself once again. The kid has not been handed an ounce of credit besides from his coaches, his teammates, and his teams fans who will look past some coachable flaws. I had never been a Bills fan before the draft, but I am a huge Josh Allen fan and am now a Bills fan because he was my guy at Wyoming. The way JA plays will win you over. He’s going to make dumb mistakes and at times you’re just going to say “what the hell was that” but you’ll use that same phrase when he does something no other person can physically do. I created an account here at TBD right after the draft and it has been funny to see how the tides are shifting from negative JA to I NEED more JA in my life. If he doesn’t start week one, then his last preseason game will be the last time you see one of his “you’ve got to be shi++ing me, that’s not even possible” plays while listening to the media and everybody else bag on him being a bust, all the while knowing you NEED more JA in your life. Just know, JA has been hearing all the hate and he has a fire in his belly that will not let him fail. Soon enough everyone will know too and you will be able to say, “ I told you so”.
  13. Everybody wants perfection from Allen, but he’s making throws that these receivers have never before seen or thought possible. They also need some time to figure out how to catch his passes. It’s possible they give up on a route because no other QB they’ve played with was able to make the throw necessary where they are on the field. Once they figure it out though, they could be dangerous. This is why he needs time with the 1s. They’ve got to figure him out too.
