  1. FDA just cancelled the flu vaccine meeting to establish the strains in next year's vaccine...not good. FDA cancels pivotal advisory meeting about next season's flu vaccine - ABC News https://abcnews.go.com/US/fda-cancels-pivotal-advisory-meeting-seasons-flu-vaccine/story?id=119234794
  2. So what of this apparent mineral deal? How invested will we be? What type of exposure will the US have and what obligations?
  3. Because we benefit from a free and stable Europe. Because Vladimir Putin is an international criminal and terrorist who does terrible things to the Russian people and should be overthrown and the Ukranian fight is clearly a way to work against him in a meaningful way. Because our military leaders are learning invaluable battle field information about one of our top two adversaries in the world. Because innocent Ukranians will be slaughtered, murdered, raped, and tortured if we give up the ship. Because if we're going to spend untold billions on our military we might as well make it count against one of our adversaries while doing the morally correct thing.
  4. Ahh, 100% disagree. I've followed this thread for a long while and there's a drumbeat here of Russian propaganda. The reposting of party lines is "sympathizing" in my book. The entire line of "stopping the bloodshed" is a Russian cover. It makes sense to the weak, western mindset and the Russians know it. It has seeped into the MAGA echo chambers and is now pounded out. The Ukranians are fighting for their survival and unless the invaders are absolutely repelled they are finished and they know it. The Ukranians are smart and tough. They will cede strategic advantages but they will go to ground and continue to fight. They won't stand by to let their wives and daughters be sold to oligarchs and their kids be sent to "re-education" camps.
  5. Lots of Russian sympathizing bots on this site, not saying you by any means, just making my position known.
  6. And so would I if someone was doing what the Russians are doing to my country. Ukranians know they are fighting for their survival. This has less to do about land and boundaries than it does about an actual life worth living. If the Russians are allowed to take control there is not hope for the Ukranian people. They will be raped, murdered and pillaged.
  7. All I can keep thinking of is the NIN song "Head Like a Hole"..."...bow down before the one you serve, you're going to get what you deserve!"
  8. I mean, in all honesty, what did you expect? Somebody's getting relieved.
  9. Not where I live. The private online schools are about 3x the student #. The brick and mortar ones within driving distance are about 30% more and offer NO, zero transportation. Plus, pay for everything (lunch, extracurriculars, uniforms, on and on) NY public schools are really, really good generally. They align their curriculum with their state standards and test that way. Most of them offer more college credits than the local jucos (exaggeration, but you know what I mean). The private schools in NY actually have to compete with the public ones, not just be exclusive.
  10. Yes Yes Yes Agreed, what would you like me to do at this point but watch. I've been in the fight vs ignorance for my entire professional career. Here we are. If they do this all I can take solace in is the above. Thanks...
  11. Yeah, my. point is that parents are the problem. The rarest human to find on earth (and one I most respect) is one that overcomes no/$hit parents to achieve. Most title 1 schools are keeping kids alive and giving them a safe place for 7.5 hrs per day, that's it. Education is way down the list when life is dangerous and terrible as a kid. IMO schools mostly fail because parents fail. Out in the country where I live...it's poor and there's plenty of bad parents but we hang on and have glimmers because of our Title 1 designation. The working poor abound and need every bit of edge they can get. Little do they know that they're voting for vouchers that will decimate their school and leave them holding the bag for another 15 grand in tuition at some "private" school. As it unfolds I'll be able to drift away into the woods and streams...can't wait.
  12. Oh no, not really a vent. I'm actually highly interested to see what will happen. My kids are through and my point of reference is very close to the issue. The major functions of the dept. of ed. that I'm curious about are Title 1 funding and any actual enforcement of special ed laws/rules in states and then in districts. I'm pretty sure most people don't have a full grasp of what public schools do in a community. I think they're about to once the funding ripples hit along with the "my kid doesn't really have any binding federal protections". That is if they can actually scuttle the entire department. We'll see.
  13. Yeah, it's pretty exciting to see what will happen. People have for too long relied on public schools to babysit their kids with no repercussions aimed at their children for poor performance, absenteeism, disrespectful behavior etc...let's slowly drain the money from public schools and funnel it to private ones that can kick their $hitbag kids to the curb when they suck. This is gonna be fun. By the time people realize this their local public schools will be in such bad shape and the entire system will be so far gone that we will have at least a generation or two of completely failed education in this country, which should supply the new oligarchs with enough dumb labor to thrive. With relaxed federal oversight local districts will only be beholden to whatever rules and regs their states can muster and this won't last for long. States will quickly realize that the entire building is on fire and that no amount of water will save it. The first to go down will be rural districts that are cash strapped anyways and have poverty issues with no real solutions for alternative education close by. At that point states will probably just float a remote program which will be fine for older kids. Good luck with primary aged kids.
  14. Yup, all fun and games unless Milley and/or his family get whacked by the Iranians. New times...
  15. Hegseth = White guy DEI hire that is all...
  16. The Thunder-Fuk was some wild 1st gen ***** in AK in the late 90's...Dolly Varden...
  17. Yesterday was my birthday... My name is Josh... Joshes show up for other Joshes on their birthdays... You're welcome...
  18. The bigger issue is that when the Cards won the coin toss they elected to receive. We elected to be with the wind in the 1st and 3rd. This was nonsensical to me. It's Marv Levy 101 to take the wind in the 2nd and 4th quarters. In the fourth quarter at home with the momentum and the crowd there is no way we should have been battling the wind. There would have been no chance for a Hail Murray into that roar either. I didn't understand the choice to take the wind in the opening quarter and fight it in the last.
  19. It's the chin...yup
  20. I disagree if your position is that America has no vital interest in Europe. Ukraine is a country in flux (politically, economically, socially). There is a war there for a reason. It is also a barrier between one of our big three rivals and NATO. No argument that our biggest threat is China. That is clear. However, Russia is a close number two and operates in a different, but not less effective manner than China. In the end, I feel for the Russian people in this scenario. They are being used brutally by a criminal dictator. I cannot imagine what would happen to Ukrainian citizens without our support. The crying here reflects no perception of reality IMO.
  21. Why does every post you make go against American interests? It is a brutal world, you seem not to understand that. Ask the Israelis. If you are an American citizen you are either a coward or a liar.
  22. Chechen rebels are predominantly Sunni. ISIS is Sunni. Vlad is covered in the blood of thirty years worth of people whom he has slaughtered for his own twisted purposes and the Russian people have paid the price. Everyone here can come up with discussion points when the children of murdered Ukranians commit acts of terrorism fifteen years from now. This one is in the books. More to come later...unfortunately.
  23. It's not a coincidence that the two teams in the Super Bowl this year have the two best tight ends in the league (we can argue who THE BEST are) but, you get my point. We have needed a guy with this kind of talent for our O. Now, we need a Spiderman type #1 that can high point a ball, soon, and we'll be looking good. Might be able to get away without Spiderman if Kincaid really develops and the offensive scheme becomes in the league of the two offensive coaches in the Super Bowl.
  24. So, B-1 bombers? Weigh in on that Sherpa. Combined with other assets? What are your thoughts?
