  1. To me, the only way that trading for Woodson makes any sense would be if you signed him to a long term cap friendly deal and planned on Nate Clements leaving next year. You can't tie up that much money in cornerbacks. Also, I think that with the rule changes, cornerbacks are not as important as they were a couple of years ago. The Pats sure got a lot out of their no-name cornerbacks this past year.
  2. Wow, they must have offered him some sweet dollars to take him off of the market so fast.
  3. There is no way that the Bills can commit $5 million/yr to PW. If he holds to that number, he will be gone. If he is willing to make closer to $3 m, he will be back. At age 32, I don't know how many teams would be willing to pony up a $20 million/4 yr deal for him. I will hate to see Pat go, but if some team is foolish enough to pay those dollars for a 32 yr old DT, we can only wave bye-bye.
  4. Bong Water. I should have never drank it when they dared me.
  5. The Raiders are $15.7 million over the $85.5 million salary cap, not counting the Jerry Porter contract and the future acquisition of wide receiver Randy Moss, who has a $7.25 million salary. ESPN story Franchise tenders can backfire. Woodson signed it and is guaranteed the $10.5 million. The Raiders probably hoped to do a cap friendly deal to keep him. Now they have major cap problems.
  6. It really is mind-boggling to see what they gave up and now have to do some major contract restructuring just to trade him. Then Moss will want an extension with a large bonus. Some day the cap is going to catch up with the Skins.
  7. Too bad that karate guy wasn't in the pizza place when that other fight occured. Would have loved to see that smackdown.
  8. You would think that the pizza guy would have a bat or something under the counter. Would have like to see that big mofo get ko'd with a bat or something.
  9. "She asserts that when plaintiff 'delivered' his sperm, it was a gift - an absolute and irrevocable transfer of title to property from a donor to a donee," the decision said. "There was no agreement that the original deposit would be returned upon request." So it's considered a gift? My anniversary is coming up and I couldn't think of what to get her.
  10. I just read that Phat Pat is seeking $5 million a year. At that price, I just don't see us resigning him.
  11. When I first saw the headline I thought that the extra head was on an infant. That kid looks to be 1-2 years old. Must be nice to carry around another head.
  12. A buck a rock, $2 for big ones, and give the proceeds to charity. You should be able to sell out a pretty large venue for this POS.
  13. The worst thing is that the little girl scout peddles all of these cookies and her troop gets about 3 cents a box in profit.
  14. DETROIT -- Motor City Mechanics coach Steve Shannon was suspended by the United Hockey League for the rest of the season for offering his players $200 to take out Flint Generals forward Kevin Kerr. UHL commissioner Richard Brosal said Shannon never admitted to offering the money, but a league investigation found that he placed the bounty on Feb. 2 when the Mechanics played the Generals in Flint. Before the game, Kerr criticized NHL players who had joined UHL teams, saying they were taking time from minor league players. Chris Chelios, Derian Hatcher and Kris Draper of the Detroit Red Wings joined the Mechanics on Feb. 1. Another Red Wings player, Jason Woolley, recently signed with the Generals. Now this would get hockey ratings up. ESPN Story
  15. Always thought that he was a great punter, even if he played for Miami. RIP.
  16. The premise of his column is that Peter King must have heard about the Bledsoe coin-toss fiasco by someone in the Bills organization. Since King didn't state who told him, Decesare automatically assumes that it must have been TD, so he proceeds to rip him a new A-hole over it. Is it possible? yes. Probable? yes. A Clear Fact? NO!!!
  17. The players are going to kick themselves when this thing is finally over. Every month that this thing goes on, they will lose more and more. The next offer from the NHL is going to be worse than the last one. I wouldn't be surprised if the players lose guaranteed contracts, arbitration rights, and a salary cap between $30-35 million, with some teams cutting spending into the low 20's. There is no way that the NHL offers close to $42 million again when talks start up again.
  18. MSG would only have the right to televise the Sabres games in WNY and only have the right to televise Rangers games in the NYC area.
  19. I love this trade for the Bills. Not only do we get JJ's replacement, but we also keep TH away from Miami. AZ will have to negotiate a new contract with TH but they can probably get a reasonably good deal since TH has a year left on his old contract. TH gets his big money a year early and would get a starting job. $3 million a yr for 4 more yrs for a LT is a bargain for the Bills.
  20. It depends if she's good looking or not. If not, can her ass.
  21. You make some real good points. But do you think that minicipalities, corporations, media or other new owners would want to get into investing in a sport that is in dire shape due to the lost season, lack of tv contracts, etc. How do you even put together a business plan without knowing if the fans will come back, what they will be willing to pay, what the players will demand, etc? The NHL owners and players have really dug themselves a big hole. While they each try to get more of the pie, the pie keeps shrinking. I think that the players are going to kick themselves when they realize that they gave up a portion of their careers and they will probably end up with less than if they had taken what was initially offered.
  22. They usually black out all of the out of market professional games, so I'm not sure that you would get the Red Sox games. You would get the pregame, etc. I once added Empire to my Dishnetwork programming when I lived in FL, but all of the Sabres games were blacked out. The first day that I got it, I was watching the sabres pregame and then they switched to bowling or something when the game was supposed to start. Boy was I pissed.
  23. I knew that Empire was toast, but I wasn't expecting it to be replaced by Fox-Pittsburg. (I live in Hamburg) I called Dish today and asked about Empire's replacement and they said that we were supposed to get Fox-New England. The CSR wasn't sure why I was getting Fox-Pittsburg. She seemed pretty clueless. I guess it doesn't matter yet, but I'm concerned about getting the Sabres games when and if they ever play again. I thought I heard that they would be on MSG. Hopefully, we Dishnetworkians will be able to get the games. Anybody know anything further about this?
