Maybe it is the mood I am in but I am pessimistic as to how much damage is going to happen to the Democrats. The moral decay is so rampant in society that people will choose their personal preferences over the good of the nation. That anybody marching under the banner of the Democrats will accept the denial and deflect blame that the leadership puts out. Expect the media to go full tilt on "Trump's plan of political persecution" stories. The truth could be sitting there naked for all to see and it will be painted as a fabricated lie that serves the President's agenda. Hillary, Podesta, Comey, etc sitting inconvenienced in prison would be an unexpected bonus to me. Many rats however will get to flee the ship so much as without a single shot fired their direction. I am sure the DNC is putting the finishing touches on "the Democrats from 2016 are by and large not the ones we are showcasing for 2020. We were in the dark and had no control over the activities of certain people. Why should the loyal patrons of our party be punished by the misdeeds of a few to have our current crop of candidates prematurely closed out of the ballot box." I am all for ending the barbaric practices of centuries ago but saddened to think that nobody will have the guts to call for treason charges and further that anybody found guilty will not receive the death penalty. While Hillary being driven out of the country would be satisfaction enough for me it makes me sad that if she lives for a few more years that at the end of that time she will be as comfortable as she was when she was ruling roughshod over the DNC back in 2016.

Did anyone ever cheat in school?
RochesterRob replied to Another Fan's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I took a 100 level meteorology course while at Cornell and found the material very easy to learn. Thankfully, the course was available to fill my physical sciences requirement and was told by multiple people to sign up for it early instead on getting stuck in "University Physics." An early example as to recognizing grade inflation or deflation depending on the point of view. -
Did anyone ever cheat in school?
RochesterRob replied to Another Fan's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I took an intro to stats course while at Cornell. The Instructor had a reputation as being super tough. She said she would tear up the test of anybody caught cheating and probably a couple dozen got caught out of approximately 150 students in the hall judging by the early walkouts. This happened in the days before cellphones and other electronic devices. No doubt some cheated that did not get caught so I don't know if they used devices of the day or what they did. A student was allowed to bring in sheets with formulas written down and such but the instructor said that would be of minimal use if a student did not know how to apply them. That day was easily the most tense of my college career. I got a C for the course and was happy to be done with it. -

The Deep State War Heats Up

It is interesting as the conspirators here most likely never gave any thought as to what might happen to affected parties around the world. In some places the death penalty still stands available for those guilty of treason, espionage, etc.. Trump being Trump has heads of government worried that for once it will not be threats and there will be real consequences. Do the Clinton's have a plane on standby for Thailand? Does it have room for Tibs and other minions? -

And yet big population states such as NY and California elect Republican politicians to state and federal office from time to time. Russian tampering? -

People like Biden? Not enough to get him across the finish line in his past attempts for President. What's changed? Nothing! I'll be sorry for asking but what do you think is a coalition of Republican voters to lead you to believe that the Democrats have a broader base? It might surprise you but I don't run to the radio when Limbaugh is on. -

I still think that Hillary will poke her head up from the sewer hole at some point. How does the DNC keep harping on Trump when Biden's son has had Russian dealings? -

Her stints as SOS and US Senator were very unremarkable to be polite about it. At least Jimmy Carter could claim administration experience as Governor of Georgia. Does your mom dole out your allowance 1 dollar at a time or does she decide to live on the wild side giving you 10 bucks for Friday evening? You sure do not inspire confidence in terms of judgement with your thoughts on politics. Might just as well see if Booger Armstrong from Revenge of the Nerds is interested in running to replace Booker. -

You are hoping that the FBI intervenes. Just that you want it to intervene against Trump and fear that it will not. Trump has fared better than Putin had expected so he will follow the long tradition of Russia getting in back of a Democrat. Biden has said nothing in terms of supporting GND so those people will be waiting on someone else. It takes a con man to know a con man. -

Your fear of Trump winning is very evident when the election is nearly a year and a half away along with Biden being no lock to get his party's nomination. I'll be the one to force reality in that Biden will falter and will be attacked by people within the Democrat Party. The Oldrichwhiteguybad narrative is already being put in place. Would be supporters will not turn out Election Day or realize that the world did not end with 4 years of Trump. Further, they might see life might have gotten better for them. This terrifies you. -

It's mental masterbation for Tibs to think that. The reality of Trump being reelected terrifies him. -
So if Russian tampering was evident in prior elections and favored a Democrat you would be in favor of investigating and prosecuting those occurrences as well? I didn't think so. Tell me anything that anything back in 2012 and prior does not matter for whatever reason.

US birth rate: 30 year low
RochesterRob replied to BeginnersMind's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I generally agree but see the advance in medicine that happened after the Civil War for the reason households grew larger for a time. Rural couples reproduced at a rate based on what they knew from generations past rather than what they could expect in terms of medical science. Also, we don't like to think of our ancestors as frisky but they only had so much to occupy their time when not doing chores and they probably knew what we know today in that it is pleasurable. -

Muslim women have access to education and birth control? Are they allowed to say "no" when the man of the house is feeling horny? I see it as a problem if immigrants do not want to adapt to the host country. A lot of us here will probably live for a while yet and don't want to see growing contempt when we are out and about in terms of our culture. -

RochesterRob replied to BeginnersMind's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
From my vantage point birthrates are down in general among younger women/couples regardless of education or employment. The problem is immigrants seem to be offsetting that. Look at Western Europe. The native people have had declining birthrates for a while now while the birthrate of recent immigrants appears to be completely offsetting that. All this is fine if immigrants want to adapt to the host country but in a lot of cases this is not happening. I would not count on the children of these immigrants to be happy worker drones in the economy as one poster here is speculating. -

Historically, that has been true in recent times (1980 and onward) but I see it different this time. I don't know that even a younger Kennedy could get by without a reelection effort of some sort. Time will tell. My Mass friends tell me that the party operatives like hearing their state mentioned for the Presidency so I see that coming into play. We shall see. -

Same difference. She was -reelected in 2018 so her term runs until 2024. Massachusetts has a fairly vibrant Democratic candidate base of which they will be aching to get the new models into office to see what they have on the Presidential level. She will have to show a body of work to get the Senate nomination from her home state which I don't see happening. She would be better off to be from a state that has a shallow pool of warm bodies to run for office like Sanders. Bernie already has Vermont wrapped up so some state like Wyoming or North Dakota for example where you are king (or queen) until you decide to move on. -

What future? She will be 70 this June and will be 75 when the 2024 convention happens. She deceives people on the eyeball test because she could pass for early 60's at present. Her age will most likely catch up with her by 2024. It is now or never for her in my mind. In her mind the one that rebuffs middle America the most goes on to be the nominee in 2020. -

NPR too centrist? I have not heard that since I left Cornell decades ago. That aside I think that a fair number of true libs know that Hillary was a wolf in sheep's clothing.
