This is why the Ravens suck.
Britbillsfan replied to tennesseeboy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hopefully Maybin will take care of one of those needs. Or even Ellis (although this may be a little too optimistic, especially around here and I don't really see it myself, but you never know). A DE would be good, even if Schobel returns to form he is not getting any younger. A good RT would be nice too. And a good sized LB to kick Ellison into being a back-up. -

Spikes made the probowl in 2003 and 2004 whilst playing for the bills, and then had two seasons ruined by injury. He was hurt in 2005 and played very little and his final season was 2006. (This does not contradict the wiki entry either). -

Tanks A Lot! - History Channel Daily Email
Britbillsfan replied to Steely Dan's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Panther was a great tank, the tiger was a piece of crap, really. Slow, expensive, constantly breaking down their reputaion was based on the fact that if they got into a fight they were very difficult to KO - especially when facing much lighter tanks such as the Sherman and the T-34. However getting to the fight was always the Tigers problem (and even more so for the Konigstiger), their lack of mobility often made them less tanks and more mobile strongpoints. If the war lasted another year the Centurion would have made an appearance, the first really good tank to come from these shores since, well, the first ones. Personally I have a fondness for the Ha-Go, a Japanese 30s piece of poo which was heavily used in the Pacific. It looked like a toy compared with contemporary fighting machines. -

Agree with everything by G.Host The list does not include Dracula/Saruman/Count Dooku/Scaramanga/Rochefort/Fu Manchu and a sh-- load of other stuff featuring Mr Christopher Lee. I read somewhere his movies have earnt more than other actors (unsurprising given the huge number of films he has been in), so for him not to be even includeed is a bit meh. So crap list. -
Girl walks into police station 18 years after kidnapping
Britbillsfan replied to Beerball's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Fear. Brainwashing. Lack of opportunity. There are quit a few possibilities, there have been a couple of similar cases in Austria the last few years and the victims accepted captivity as 'normal'. It must be a wonderful day for her parents after all this time to have their daughter finally returned. -
I would imagine something along the lines of: 'Until such time as Trent Edwards (and possibly Fitzpatrick as well) has to rely upon the use of crutches and/or a wheelchair to move about.'

Is Wood that good or is Stroud slipping?
Britbillsfan replied to Marv-a-licious's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No worries, I wasn't being serious either. Except about the guards bit... it certainly seems (at this early stage) the Bills could have a hit here with Wood. -

Now you've hurt my feelings. It wasn't a total disaster, in the grand scheme of things. It did mean most the German Panzer divisions were kept facing the British/Canadian forces allowing Operation Cobra to face comparatviely few German tanks. At the time many of the German tanks were so superior to the Shermans/Cromwell/Churchill tanks the British were using it is no wonder they were a difficult nut to crack. Fortunately they could make nowhere near enough of them to cover everywhere they needed to be. Pity the good (totally kickass) British tanks didn't start appearing until '46. It certainly appears drafting Guards is a good thing in the NFL as far as the success rate goes. Last one we had turned out okay... -
ESPN has a quote where Parker is saying - I never said that or threatened this. The original quote appears to come from Crabtree's cousin / 'adviser' http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4381335 It is possible, however much we all despise Parker, that this one is all down to Crabtree. Or even just his idiot cousin...

Peters On Pup List For a Quad Injury
Britbillsfan replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
To be REALLY pedantic but the thumbs down in ancient times was a good thing, it meant for the victor to put aside his blade. The thumbs up meant he was to thrust the blade up into the defeated gladiator's body. As for Peters. The ONLY thing I care about for Peters now is for him to play his socks off, be an all-pro again, and earn the Bills a better draft pick that they would have done otherwise. -
Gotta love Buzz Aldrin for that. As for the numbers, if you phrase a question in a certain way you can often get the reply you want, not necessarily the one the person giving the question wanted to give if the question was simply put.

Also a LOT of interceptions are thrown late in the game with a team chasing a decent sized lead, forcing them to throw in when the defence knows what is coming next. Since we had decent sized leads so rarely this was never much of a concern when playing against the Bills...

Iran arrests British diplomats?

Yep. We have Iran and Zimbabwe. You guys get North Korea and Venezuela. I guess whoever gets the nod from Myanmar/Burma is the winner! -
Iran arrests British diplomats?
Britbillsfan replied to KD in CA's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Yep, the Iranian authorities don't like it. So it must be a good idea. Run by Iranians who were still halfway living in Iran for the most part (renting in the UK while working for the channel, returning to friends and families whenever they could), rather than exiles/opponents of the regime. It also took great pains to show both sides of the story whenever possible (although recently the hardliners have decided not to participate and air their views, so some presenters are having to play devil's advocate on political shows since only the opposition now turns up. A lot of the staff are fairly resigned to the the fact they will not be able to go back home for some time, apparently. -

The Iranians really do hate us at the moment. They are pissed off about the recently launched BBC Persian language service and have been blaming the protests on the activities of 'the most evil of nations' (that's us Brits, BTW). It has all come as rather a surprise for the Prime Minister, to find out (according to the Iranian regime) that he is more popular in down town Teheran than anywhere in the UK. The arrested embassy staff are locals employed by the embassy, not British diplomats. And it sure looks like the Iranians are trying hard to piss off all and sundry at the moment. -
Airbus 310 Crashes With 154 Aboard!
Britbillsfan replied to Steely Dan's topic in Off the Wall Archives
This one was a middle-eastern airline which had problems with that particular plane (only discovered when it flew to France) and then decided never to fly to Europe again. It seems likely that decision was so they would not have their aircraft checked over properly again by European agencies. -
There are other reformers who could step into his role. However if there is a crackdown it could be pretty nasty. Not long after the revolution there was a fair bit of bloodshed (read a lot) where the ayatollahs went after the other groups that overthrew Pahlavi and his cronies. The revolutionary guards and the basij include a lot of hardcore nutjobs who will be more than happy to put the people protesting 'in their place' (probably a large pit, after they are done).

Do you care if Bills players smoke marijuana?
Britbillsfan replied to a topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This. -
The current president is not that popular with a lot of the hardliners either. He is the first non-cleric president of the Islamic Republic, his backing is the powerful Revolutionary Guards and the hardline militas and Khamenei. Interestingly it is possible to have the council remove the supreme leader and appoint someone else. Unlikely to happen, and it will not be somebody all that pleasant either, but it might be used as a sop to the protesters.
