Potential Cut Candidates in the Offseason
MrEpsYtown replied to DCOrange's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
His contract isn't a bid deal, as you could cut him anytime with minimal dead cap. I would sign a guy like Maxx Williams who doubles as a tight end and fullback so you free up a roster spot. -

Demarcus Lawrence will get the franchise tag. I don't think Trey Flowers will though. There are rumblings they will use it on Gostkowski. i think most of our cap goes to the o line, a tight end or two, and a receiver. The best think for a young quarterback is a veteran line. I think we add young talent to the defense in the draft. -
I think the Lynn situation required a total blow up and culture change. I think he's a good coach, but we needed a change. Continuity would not have been a good thing after Rex. With Schwartz, the stink of the 0-16 season in Detroit had not worn off at that point in time. Pettine was never considered as HC here as he flamed out in Cleveland before our job was up for grabs again.

I want no part of Tyrell Williams

He looked slow to me. I wasn't impressed. In all fairness, the guy I like, Conley, had two catches for 19 yards. I do think Conley would be better with more targets and plays designed for him, so I still prefer him. But neither were impressive tonight. Mitch Morse was and that is the guy to get at center in my opinion. -
I just can't wrap my head around grabbing this guy in the top ten. I mean he's a good player, but he doesn't appear to be elite. And if he is going to be playing right tackle or guard it's a terrible pick. Plugging holes with top ten picks is a terrible philosophy. Sign veteran linemen and draft the best player available, which is likely to be a defensive lineman or Josh Allen.

I'm not a Kenny Stills fan, but boy is he a great fit for Josh Allen's strengths. -
Agreed. The Jags need a veteran quarterback to take that team to the next level. Flacco is a good fit. If Bortles is a post June 1 cut, it isn't terrible. 11.5 million in dead money with a 9 million cap savings. There is offset language in the contract he signed, so they have to hope someone will be willing to take a shot on teh open market, which is highly unlikely.
