Overpaid yeah but Redskins make playoffs with Cousins no doubt. They're a much better team than I thought outside of QB. -

That's a good take. His coverage is perfect really so he hasn't been tested to play the ball when QBs throw it his way anyway to top dog WRs that can gobble the football on a good throw and catch. He certainly doesn't see it in practice! -

He's completely with his man every time, never gets beat really. Just has to start defending freak circus catches against the opponent's no 1 -

Draft Josh Allen... 2019

Lol something like that. Just draft like the Cowboys have and get a Travis Frederick type late in the 1st and f*** the mock drafters for calling that a reach. -

LT or WR if it's there at the top. I don't like to get too worked up over mock drafts, or follow top college players, so I don't know if that's feasible. If nobody's apparently elite I want to trade down in a heart beat for interior OL -
Draft Josh Allen... 2019

He dropped and anybody should have taken him at that point. Sucks he's not stacking up as he was expected to be but I wouldn't take a guard that high ever. Y'all still had D'brickashaw and a pretty solid OLine IIRC. Albeit it was aging -
Draft Josh Allen... 2019

I wouldn't ever second guess the Leonard Williams pick. I thought it was a steal at the time and bolstered the next best DL unit in years. In hindsight I'd assume the Jets make that pick 10/10 -

Man anybody named Patriot Killa is alright. I'm actually ashamed we didn't snap up that name. Much respect to this Jets fan. And I don't give that away lightly! -
Good route running is a very underrated skill.
-
I remember my friends saying with pretty strong conviction he'd blow everyone else out of the water. I don't think he dropped a ball. I remember thinking "yep I guess that's what makes him so good among everything else."
-
If you don't have a guy that can do all the route runnimg, catching, physical contested balls, consistent hands, and speed, than you can have a nominal #1 and #2 that give you both. But once you need 3 guys that are elite at all those attributes, ya don't really have a #1. I'd say a guy with 3/4 or 4/4 of the top WR attributes.
-
Yeah probably I mean I'm sure there's 3-5 you could name at the top.. ODB, Jarvis, and Brown. I remember the probowl reciever challenge made that skill pretty clear. Chad Johnson won it easily hands down, and it was never close. If you lumped all the WRs together in a challenge like that, you'd get a very simple measurement of everybody's skill at catching. I remember the Dolphins had that slot guy from Hawaii who had hands of glue and until he faded out in his 3 year prime I wouldn't ever say anybody had better hands than him. Dude who caught passes for Colt Brennan. EDIT: Davone Bess! Wasn't perfect. But damn he never dropped the ball. Unfortunately didn't have all the other athletic attributes the very best WRs need.

Draft Josh Allen... 2019

Well when you put it that way I'M SOLD ON THE OP'S IDEA Now if he said Jim Kelly... We'd be all aboard. -
I'd say Thielen is arguably a true #1 on most teams, but Diggs beats him out not necessarily on talent, but on being harder to game plan against. Not that Thielin isn't hard. But Diggs is tough and I don't think hands are brought up as an issue when you talk #1 caliber. Yet Theilin probably has the best in the league.

Clickbait. Just say what you want on defense and don't bring in Josh Allen (on the thread title no less!) for absolutely no reason.. please -
Draft Josh Allen... 2019

We're drafting the defensive Josh Allen. It's genius I'm going to start a thread about signing the WR version of Josh Allen. And maybe a few OL JA prototypes. JA'S everywhere! Next up: is Shady going to carry the torch and play RB like JA does QB? Or is there a JA in FA that plays RB.. -

How do you figure. They suck. primarily at the Quarterback position. The OP is about Cousins a bit below Case Keenum's performance last year. If any Quarterback can consistently put up those numbers every year that's HOF first ballot. Not a fair bar. Keenum or Cousin's stats would have them winning the division.. even Alex Smith had them winning it. Shocker.. like this offense only narrative doesn't happen every first half of season and all the offense only teams get exposed December through playoffs. -
I don't think there's a surefire approach. I'd hazard coaches just need to be willing to go either route and not stick to one way to protect a lead. If Falcons HC was winning regular season games playing that way he might have blindly adhered to that system despite the fact that his whole team was ****ting their pants. Read your team. If they confident, take some risks to seal the deal. If they look like the Falcons did.. don't let em shoot themselves in the foot because they forgot there were 2 halves in football and play conservatively to give yourself the best chance. Most coaches go with philosophy over game flow seems like. I guess sometimes trust your players to win games but know the time when to take over knowing coaching can cover up a lack of confidence. Doug Pederson played an excellent game just knowing his boys were up for the challenge. Pete Carroll likely shouldn't pass it to that WR as he did NOT look confident and got bullied to the ball playing with no aggression. I thought the down, distance and time called for a conservative pass and on paper wasn't a horrible idea. But who was it.. Tyler Lockett?? Certainly looked shook when his number was called that he couldn't even contest the ball to force a PBU instead of an interception. Look the man in the eyes and judge if he ready. I know Marshawn had no nerves.. too much of a block head to really care about any game situation. Dude's a gamer. Heck I would have called the slant to Marshawn.
-
yeah the whole team simply isn't as good. And they've had virtually no running game either. Dalvin's been out or banged up all year.. hasn't put up ANY numbers. And he's not worth his contract no.. but it's silly to knock him by comparing his stats to Case Keenum's last year. Keenum had a damn good year, and maybe it was a flash in the pan. Expecting ANY quarterback to replicate that season every darn year is expecting Peyton Manning consistency. Hard to judge Cousins if he has to constantly meet another quarterbacks career best season success as Cousin's lowest bar he's allowed to go.

it's not like the Chargers were so hot without him. They had a great team that lost in the playoffs a couple years straight under Marty. He gets canned. And the Chargers seriously regress for the next few years. I guess ya can't lose playoff games if you don't have a winning coach making playoff games Chargers! I always think those are stupid moves if you don't have a clear upgrade available to win at the same clip Marty did. The general manager over there was the star of the show though. Very talented teams during Marty's tenure.
