The refs said that he threw the challenge flag after the ball was snapped.

I was at the game today and didn’t think that was true, but that’s what the ref said at the game.

From my seats I saw him throw the flag prior to the snap (it was pretty close, and he picked it back up quickly). Very, very fortunate the refs didn't notice and blow the play dead

  2. I'm fine with no deadline trades, I don't think we're in a "win-now" mode that would make sense to mortgage future picks away.

Defensively - why fix what ain't broken? Maybe trade some late round picks for depth guys

Offensively - we could use O-Line or WR or TE (pending on Kroft status), but there's not many guys on the trading block that would be upgrades over what we have. And those guys would probably cost way too much draft capital.

  3. I voted B-

    Positives:

He clearly motivates the players and has them playing hard

    His defense is championship caliber

    We made the playoffs

    4-1 start this season

    Negatives:

The Offense has never been better than mediocre during his tenure

He stated Peterman (multiple times) and thought it was okay to go into a season with a QB depth of Peterman, Allen (some of that is on Beane)

    Terrible with challenges

Poor clock management and situational awareness (looking at you, decision to punt in the Colts snow game)

Lot of reasons to be excited, but I'm not even going to consider moving him into the "A" range until we win some playoff games.

  4. I was never sold on Allen (being honest, I wanted Rosen).

I really like how he's improved his accuracy on short throws this season (prior to the start of the Patriots game).

I don't like how he keeps making the same mistakes over and over. How many times has he gotten sacked (or taken intentional grounding penalty) to knock us out of FG range this season? How many times has he thrown off his back foot? How many "hero ball" plays have blown up in his face?

He needs to cut down on the mistakes to earn my faith.

D- first half, but he was trending towards an A+ 2nd half. Not getting to play the whole game and determine the outcome I give him an incomplete. I’m guessing most of the replies to this topic are from new or young fans!? It took Peyton Manning about 7 years to figure out how to beat the Bellicheck defense.

Our punting killed us far more than Josh’s interceptions. We gave up a punt block TD and had ~20 yard punts. Most of his INTs were deep passes that gave New England worse field position than our punt team would have given them. Hauschka’s miss caused us to not attempt what would have been game tying / game winning field goals. You can’t put Haushka’s miss completely on Allen. Josh was clearly bouncing back from a rough first half and looked on track to pick up the W. The cheap shot just sucks.

    1) It didn't take Peyton Manning 7 years to figure out how to score more than 10 points on the Patriots def

    2) Saying that the INT's were basically punts might hold more water if all 3 INTs did not occur on 1st down

    3) I'll agree the punting was atrocious

i marked results for spreads pools for years, and i can't count the number of times the spread reversed in the last minutes of a nothing game, causing me to remark the pool picks.

i've never felt that a win or loss was at stake in "fixing" but last-minute backdoor covers make me wonder.

The Chiefs had a ridiculous one a few years ago. The Chiefs kicked a FG with 4 seconds left to take a 23-20 lead (Chiefs were favored by 6). On the last play of the game the Redskins went for a ladder play, fumbled, and the Chiefs returned for a TD to win 29-20, and to cover the spread.

  7. I'll go with a C

The game winning drive is great and all, but we were only trailing in that game due to poor QB play. He had 2 bone headed plays that probably should have cost us the game (and would have against a better team). I'm looking at the intentional grounding that got us out of FG range and the INT (similar looking plays).

Dawkins shunts Leo inside and seals. Adams fills the hole, Smith whams him. Zay and Beasley have lost position on their blocks so the outside is dead. Instead of following Dawkins/Smith, Gore turns into the 2 Jets.

I love that you labeled the Jets player in the last screenshot.

Watching that play live I thought Gore should've made it out of the endzone easily. What a piss poor decision and bad running by Gore.

I'm not a hater by any means, and I really appreciate the OP putting this together as it highlights positives that the Bills can and hopefully will build upon.  Some of Allen's INT's were not his fault.  The fumble/sack was.  He also got lucky.  The Jets dropped a pick right before our first FG/points of the game.

All in all, the 1st half was as bad as it was.  Driving down the field to turn it over is BAD.  Good teams (Pats, Saints, Seattle, etc) don't do this.  It was a positive that we can move the ball, but we need to finish drives.  Close only counts in horseshoes and hand-grenades as the saying goes.

Allen also had an INT overturned on a rather weak defensive holding call

  10. You guys need to relax.

Never forget that Beane traded a 3rd +7th for Kelvin Benjamin.

Beane's legacy will largely be determined by how Allen turns out. If he turns into the franchise QB that we all hope, then great. If he flounders and fails....

We also need to wait to see how he's done with his big FA signings (morse, brown, beasley). I'm not terribly impressed by Lotulelei and Murphy from his first year.

Trading mediocre depth players for late round picks is great and all, but  doesn't move the needle very much.

  11. Kyle Williams was over-rated.

He was a very good player, but he was hyped up too much. I think the media latched onto him because he was the best player on some bad teams, and the people of Buffalo latched onto him for the whole blue collar/brings his lunch pail to work/does his job shtick.

  12. I wish I could be am optimist like you, but I see too many red flags to believe that the Bills will be a SB contender in the next few years, or at any time with this coach and GM.

    1) The Process

What is "The Process"? To the best of my knowledge it's never been defined.

Are we trying to remove players that are morally questionable?  If so, why did we trade Cordy Glenn or Ronald Darby? Why is Lesean Mccoy still on the team?

Does "The Process" mean tanking (similar to the Philadelphia 76ers)? We went 9-7 and 6-10 with McBeane. If we're trying to tank we have done an awful job...

    2) The Coach

Does a good job of motivating our players, but I have to say I'm concerned about the number of blowout losses we've had with Mcdermott as coach (8 losses of 20+ points in 2 seasons).

His challenge record speaks for itself.

I'm still upset about his decision to punt against the Colts in the 2017 snow game (we won the game, but it was still a terrible decision to punt).

    3) The GM

I don't have too much to say here.

He's made good moves. He's made bad moves.  Not much different from Doug Whaley...

    4) The QB

The giant question mark for this franchise's immediate future. Josh Allen showed some flashes, but he's still a raw prospect. If he improves (dramatically) he could be a top QB in the NFL. If he doesn't improve he'll turn into a giant "what if" that we'll argue about on this forum for years to come.

    5) The Owners

I love what the Pegulas have done for Buffalo as a city, but I don't see how we can call the Pegulas quality owners when we look at what they've done to the Sabres.
